Excellent informative and intelligent video. 2 years ago, I bought a NanRobot x4, in my opinion the best entry level scooter... staying with the product, I soon after bought the D3. While it’s the most beautiful of all the ‘Bot scooters, in was a lemon. Then I bought my current scooter, the D5+2.0 from NanRobot This is a 40-ish mph scooter with a 27 AH battery. Real world range, in Nashville Tennessee is about 37 miles, IF you toggle the power buttons correctly, considering traffic conditions. I always ride in the street. Now. Considering the amp/hour battery, the fact that you have two-1000 watt motors, and the subsequent range, I consider the $1200.00 that I spent on it during “Black Friday” last year, a great deal.
One OTHER thing to consider when buying an upgrade, is (1) the price-point, compared to like-powered scooters, and (2) are you, personally ready to delve into the maintenance/upgrade/learn/and make PEVs a real hobby I’ve learned a lot, and made the decision to stay electric, the rest of my life (I’m 67). These things really are the wave of the future, and for me, are the BEST hobby that I could have. Don’t really want a “plug-n-play” scooter. Again I got a low-end quality, semi-high performance scooter for $1200.00. During the time that I’ve had it, I would have spent, easily twice as much on beer, cable, bingo ect.. I stopped staying inside all the time, gave my tv away (I still watch movies on free phone apps), and when I wake up in the morning, I act on my thoughts (and, previous night dreams) about my scooter. There is SO much offered by this technology We’re in the baby-step era now. I’m from the time when televisions were black and white, only. I would turn the TV set ON, take a shower, and by the time I got back to the den, the picture tube was warming up enough to see the picture. We all know the saying that “history repeats itself”. I believe it’s not only humanitarian history, but also, what and how, humanity utilizes technology. I would also like to say that I have lived through ( in the US) the “Jet age” the “Space age” and now we are in, for wont of a better phrase, the PEA ( Premiere Electric Age). There’s a lot of advancement to be made in the near future, and I “don’t gotta” say the rest...

You do a really great job with your videos. Thanks for taking the time to provide such detailed information. People should also base their decision on if they are mechanically inclined on not. A scooter like the Segway Ninebot Max requires little to no maintenance, where as a Nanrobot scooter requires LOTS of maintenance. Happy and safe riding everyone 🛴😃

For my first scooter I decided on a Vsett10+. My desire for a scooter is for commuting around 14 miles a trip as often as possible per week in the hopes of reducing my reliance on gas. Quickly found that was difficult to accomplish with the scooter that first caught my attention, the Unagi. As I started going through reviews and other videos similar to this looking for that perfect one I realized that safety was the thing that should be my primary focus. Suspension, air filled tires because hard rubber isn’t good for the wet conditions of Florida, decent water resistances, high quality brakes and good power when needed are just a few features that bring up the price quickly but offer much more safety. I finally decided that trying to low end it would most likely cost more in the long term with the increased risk of injured as well. To find the perfect scooter I concluded I would need to start from the top end and work my way down, eliminating unnecessary features and ignoring price with the expectation I might have to wait longer to afford the more expensive one. So was this rationalization of spending more to save money good enough to sell to my wife? Really hope so or I’m screwed 🤣😂🤣✌️💕

    • @grazz7865
      @grazz7865 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You hit a lot of good points here. The more you spend, the better you get. I’m not sure about starting at the top end. You’re talking $9,000 (rion for example-80mph. Long waiting list. Definitely top end). I would start with what is important for YOU (speed, features, suspension, dual motors, single motor, etc) and work from there. The unagi definitely looks like a budget scooter. I find them a little flimsy. Definitely easy to carry around for a commuter scooter but you pay for that with the ride.

just bought a go trax G3 to ride to work. it claims to have an 18 mile range in economy mode. my commute is 7 miles, but i can also charge it there so i ride in fast mode. i bought it because i needed a way to get to work (car died, need a lot of money to fix it) but i'm loving this thing. its a fun ride. i think i have a new hobby

Great video and tips as always, I can say some of these you don't think about until you have owned a scooter and realize, shoot, this thing sucks because of this one little feature missing, or something like that. The Mantis that RK9 features is special in the folding department because there is only one other scooter in that power class that folds and locks like the Mantis does.

Bought a Kugoo S1 like a year ago. Cheap as hell at 220EUR, but some definitve drawbacks. Rear brake was just the mudguard pressing onto the tire, front brake was the kinetic recovery system only, so no quick stops possible. Started to rattle after about 300km. Battery doesnt wanna charge up to the acclaimed 42V but rather 40.2V. Handlebar studs are a bit loose, so doesnt feel reassuring when cornering fast, solid tires are a nightmare on cobblestone and the mudguard just broke off from simply jumping down regular sized curbs(no rear light anymore)
But it was cheap, has about 20km range, top speed of 29km/h and is somewhat light at 12kg

3:00 Or just use a backpack and carry 1 or 2 extra batteries with you. Battery technology really needs to advance. There's a few out there can out perform lithium ion right now but we are still stuck with Lithium for some reason. Anyway, looking into getting one but I really think even $800 is a bit of a rip off. Glad to find a channel doing actual customer reviews that isn't also an Scooter merchant selling them.

Heh, I went entry level on my first scooter a week ago. I did a lot of research and I got the Inokim Light 2, which I noticed (watching your video for the first time now I have my scooter) in the pics of scooters you showed.
The information you provided falls very much in line with the information my several hours of web searching provided me with, so a good all round video. Thumbs up (both the sentiment and the Like button).
I like the Kaabo Wolf Warrior 2, and the Inokim OXO. I was already planning the OXO in a year or 2, but now the Wolf Warrior is out of the running as I don't know if the UK companies do stem bolt upgrades and I would NOT appreciate such a catastrophic failure at 40MPH.
The OXO has a few bugs to sort out before I consider buying one, so maybe the OXOX or whatever they call the next gen, which autta be available by the time I want to buy a new one.
My plan is to use my Light 2 for communting and general public transport avoidance (also it cuts the commute down from 1h to 30 mins, give or take) and when I have a 2nd scooter with a bit more power, and a lady friend visiting in the future, she'll be able to use my Light 2 and be safe and comfortable (I mean, that's literally it's main design focus) so we can go for rides together.
    Hyperthetically.
Hell, an OXO could prolly carry me and the Light 2 around so I could go meet someone, and starp the Light 2 to my back :-D
Now THAT's a date! (And would likely end at my place.
I'll also have to get more hgardcore safety gear so my current gear would make a good loan too.
    When I plan, I don't screw around.

just got the mantis pro my buddie had an Apollo pro and i tried it and loved it ...the speed on it is perfect bc anything more on the road you'll get pulled over, i asked a cop and they said if your going over 40 you'll need to make it a more official vehicle. like mirrors and plates and if your caught going over 15 on a side walk its a fine. always check the regulations where you live each town is different but that the general idea...i feel if you get anything that pushes over 45 mph and you don't use it recreationally then its not worth it in the US at least,,,,when have you seen a warrior king go down a road doing over 50 and trust me a lot are out there lol ... but none do bc its not allowed. plus scooters cant go on highways. many places are 30 mph max for scooters

ps i weigh 140 n get the pros to 43 mph both mantis n Apollo my buddie weighs 210 n can get the mantis around 39 n the Apollo to 41 of consistent speed to dead. i noticed the Apollo drops in juice more bc of the 10 percent extra power but truly both are matched with barley no difference. i prefer a more serious look which is why i choose the mantis ...anything above these for just commuting is over the top for US

How is your water resitance going? Have you inspected if your battery or controller had contact with water? Does it get more hot due to sealed airflow holes?

Here's my problem I live in a converted school building and will be keeping my eventual mobility device in a basement apartment so a flight of stairs up and down every time I use it is unavoidable making weight an issue. My town has its fair share of hills. Maybe not an overwhelming amount but enough to be a factor so weight and hill climbing are important factors when considering my options. So do you have anything that might work for me? A motor strength? To give you an wxamppke I'm looking online at a Hilboy it weights just over 30lbs with its battery installed. I figure I can remove the battery out that in a backpack and lug the now less than 30lbs scooter up the stairs well enough. However what I've seen of reviews it's hill climbing ability isn't stellar but to be honest I don't know if the Hilboys stated ability to do 15 degree inclines is as a limitation? Is that a speed bump type hill, small hill, medium hill, etc? Also using my visual inspection of my areas local hills I have no idea what their inclines are? It makes being an informed consumer a bit tricky.

Anything light is probably not going to have descent power for hills. You want dual motors for hills but that comes with added weight. The light weight scooters can climb hills. It will just be a painful 7-10MPH.

Im à beginnèr but my place is at a high place so i think i nèed about 1000W or double 800W. I hàd my eyes on Zero 8X. I also like Kààbo X (1500) or Mantis Mini X (800, would this enough power to climb to our place?) or Mantis Mini (800 x 2). Whàt would be best?

I think weight limit is most important. Where's that category on your list?

The next step in this tech will be in batteries. GRAPHENE (you heard it here) is ultimate, at this early stage of the game. Right now, they’ve married lithium with graphene for a battery that will charge in 1/2 the time, and won’t degrade for 2or3 times as long as a lithium only battery will. The expense of creating a totally graphene battery right now is CRAZY! These batteries are made from shaving graphite (what’s in a common pencil) ONE molecule thick. It can be done, and has been done. But even though a totally graphene battery can be charged from 40 volts to 100 volts in 190 minutes, and the cells, themselves, won’t degrade for 5 years, we, right now, can’t economically produce them...

So i actually received my Mantis Pro a couple days ago but literally 3 miles into my experience i got a rear flat, i tried reaching out to Fluid but no response, i did realize the tube might have been placed at a weird angle and pinch i dont know if the tube slime is something that would fix or if i should just get a new tube, any ideas?
Thank you for your vids by the way, stay cool 😎

I’m currently using a hover 1 rally, my daily commute to and from work is 6 miles, but getting there is all uphill. My scooter can barely get there and goes about 2 miles per hour towards the end of my commute it’s very irritating.. what would you recommend to be a good upgrade? My budget is around $400

My situation is I’m 57yrs old. Post car accident 30yrs ago. I walk ok now but can’t run. I’ve tried bike and I’m ok with it. And I like this scooter. My place is at the foot of a mountain, about 600 mtrs up. Needing 2nd gear in car transmission. That’s why the usual 800W motor starting point is bit questionable in power. I’m in Cebu Philippines, the Kaabo shop (I’ve trimmed down the choices)here has 800W, 800Wx2(dual motor), and 1500W motors available. I’ve picked the 800x2 for my choice, as they say it’s better than single 1500W. Is dis ok?

It's even more dangerous riding scooter cause these asshole drivers don't see you and just turn right in to you for a collision. You try to avoid them but they aim at you. If you don't want to die fast I would recommend stay away from electric scooters.

I thought they were easier than hoverboards , I just rented a scooter 🛵 today and I didn’t step on It just because the throttle was moving fast the scooter while I was walking and pushing the scooter. I wish the throttle was like bottons with numbers and to choose the speed that way. And also, the scooter moves to the sides. I could not even to step on the scooter 😒

The cheapest scooter I’ve seen with the most range is the e-move cruiser (about $1400). 52 miles of range. If money is no object, the high end scooters can go 90-100 miles of range, but now you’re talking $5000 and up.
