Something about Mads makes him perfect for this role. His sort of aura and accent and physical build as well as his facial features and expressions make him perfect for a psychiatrist like Hannibal. Well done Mads!!!
I don't usually like NBC dramas or psych/horror, but Hannibal is an exception. it's amazing watching Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen act. truly talented actors.
I agree, 100%, I believe there was probably millions like us. Possibly the greatest three seasons of network television ever created. Of course the networks didn’t have the foresight of streaming services because they really should’ve kept another 2 to 3 season of this.
that wool sweater though.... Mads is hands down one of the best actors in the world. each episode of hannibal just keep getting better and better. amazing.
The reason I think I find Mads as Hannibal more appealing than the Anthony Hopkins version (while his portrayal was still bone-chilling) is that I saw Hannibal as a literary and a chef and more of a psychiatrist than what I saw in Silence of The Lambs, I think that in Silence of the Lambs the plot did a very good job at showing the savage side of Hannibal Lecter but the series gave the role more appeal to me, I guess reading the books before watching the movie or series would've been better for me to experience Hannibal's persona but that's just my opinion, reply if you agree so I know I'm not the only one please.
+Rjorjin Kinda agree with you. I'm in the middle of reading "Hannibal", I did read "Red Dragon" & "Silence of The Lambs" before and watched each movie after each book (I need to fulfill my free time somehow XD) and I think Hannibal from TV series is way less kill-ish than Anthony Hopkins' character. At least that was my impression when I compared these two. When I read/watch a movie, I know he's the killer and he could kill Will/Clarice/whoever in a minute. He was just scaring. Not to mention, Hopkins' appearance did a very good job in that. But when I watch the series, I sometimes forget Hannibal is the Ripper and focus on his side as a psychiatrist & Will's friend. In my opinion in the movies we already know who he is and what he's done and in the series we slowly discover his deadly side (at least slower than in the movies) so maybe it's the reason why we feel this way about Mads' character :)
@@olivermateee547 Wow 7 years, i’m an entirely new person living a different life and things are good, my opinions on portrayals of lecter hasnt changed much besides maybe being more articulate now, i cant believe i wrote that when i was only 14, time flies
@@rjorjin6537 That's good to hear, just thought I'd comment to see if you were still around really lol! All the best to you and hope you have more great years to come! Hannibal's a classic, he lives on in us haha.
How is Mads sexy even in that sweater XD But anyway, interesting take on Hannibal, I definitely agree he enjoys life to the fullest and doesn't let things bother him. Things that would normally make someone upset or squeamish is just exciting. I wish I could be like that :)
I adore the Hannibal books, movies, and the tv series. Mads portrays the character of Hannibal quite delightfully. It's creepy in the most wonderful way.
I'm thankful that Bryan Fuller and the casting people had the wisdom to choose Mads for the role of Hannibal. They could have cast any number of well-known American actors. EDIT: Sorry, Bryan FULLER, not Bryan Singer!
I know he's an actor and he's playing a role but this man freaks me out. He's Hannibal Lecter playing with all of us. Com'on, who the hell would accept an invite for dinner from this man?
I prefer Mikkelsen's rendition. He's been Hannibal for longer so his is the true definitive rendition, anyways. At least for this point in time in the life of the character.
***** They are. But the Mads character has had more time to evolve and show genuine moments of human interaction with other characters that makes him way more dynamic, unlike the other ones where Hannibal just manipulates everyone and is one step ahead all the time.
In Denmark where i live, he were just a normal actor playing standard roles, in comedy movies, funny thing is' he always act's the same, that nonchalant way' he speaks, like he does not care, that's like the way he always act's actually he didn't change his acting for the role of Hannibal, it seems like he's still just acting the only one way he knows :D
Silver Wolfson Odd. He seemed to play a completely different character in Casino Royale, that movie where he runs an orphanage in india whose name escapes me, the Hunted, Valhalla Rising, etc. I see he does things differently quite often. But that's just me. Maybe he's Denmark's Keanu Reeves?
He's so mesmerizing and disarming, I would find myself suddenly wondering if (over the course of the interview) he was always assessing me for my "tenderness". Then I'd have nightmares for a week, wondering if I was somehow uncouth.
Dont even worry about it, Kelly!! You have ur fuckin fun with Hannigram! I love the heck outta that ship to ;D Get excited for Season two airing this friday!!!!
the show requires a lot of suspension of disbelief but the actors provide that suspension . Sooner or later Hannibal will probably be caught so why will we fans probably feel both relief and dejection if this happens well Mads provided the answers in this interview
and I said IF because this a retelling of the Thomas Harris books and i remember reading Red Dragon when it debuted in the early 80 s but only time will tell where the Tv show will take Hannibal and if Francis Dolarhyde will appear and how he will do his uhhh deeds. I wonder if Mads is familiar with Francis Dolarhyde .
Hannibal killed a bunch of people, then spun it to make Will look like the killer. Will found out, but now is questioning himself as Hannibal is going into the next layer of his deceptive pleasure: making Will believe he actually did it. So yes, Hannibal killed all those people. (although there were some tableaus that weren't his work and were little villains of the week. Like the old man with the body totem)
***** but so has Will and he's definitely more of a threat to Hannibal, and I assume Bedelia knew to some extent as well and he let her get away once too.
He does a good job of playing Mads Mikkelsen.
hahaha
Jacob Seibers Haha how fucking original
"He really really loves Will. And he wants to get him back"
AND. MY. FUCKING. HANNIGRAM. *let me alone*
Something about Mads makes him perfect for this role. His sort of aura and accent and physical build as well as his facial features and expressions make him perfect for a psychiatrist like Hannibal. Well done Mads!!!
I agree. And, although Danish, he has a Baltic/North-Western Russian physiognomy which goes perfect with a Lithuanian character.
Look at him in his cute little sweater. Mads. Mads. Please.
One of the many words that I love Mads pronouncing is "rude".
Yeah, he has a beautiful accent. Sorry for asking, but are you the nosebleed grinder?
root
it's like he's still in character
I don't usually like NBC dramas or psych/horror, but Hannibal is an exception. it's amazing watching Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen act. truly talented actors.

This ship is sailing itself
He would be a great man.....IF he didnt have 'that' little hobby....
Hahah i love this line.
I love listening to his voice. It's so smooth.
The more I see him play Hannibal the more he becomes Hannibal, his performance is more chilling with every episode.
"is the baddie" 🤣💅💅

He is gorgeous they couldn't pick a better person for Hannibal!
It´s so chilling how well Hannibal Lecter acts as Mads Mikkelsen.
Besseralswiedu haha how fucking original
Top comment already says that mate.
"...including animals"
Oh boy...he's thinking of the infamous horse scene
I will never be able to take anyone else seriously playing Hannibal. Honestly Mads is amazing, marvelous marvelous work!
"One thing that is for sure, he really, really loves Will. And he wants to get him back."
I love how he looks with that sweater 💙
I'm jealous of his kids...I'd want him to read me stories every day with that voice...(in a totally non pervy way ofcourse) lol
Probably the coolest actor ever. Big man crush points!
This made me notice how nice Mads' hands are.

“He really, really loves Will”
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I watched one episode of this and then had to keep going. It's SOOOOO fascinating!!! Well done Mads!!
how the FUCK can a man be this perfect?

He is more like Hannibal than I've ever thought he would be... :O
and I love it :)
that sweater...
not the best, but goddamn does he make it work.
I know right!!!!!
"He really really loves Will" ------------------------- ☜(́≖◞౪◟≖‵)and i know it
So far, season 2 is much better than 1. Its getting better and better.
its amazing mads can switch into languages with such ease. It amazes me every time :)
god bless mads accent

2:11 the line we all came here for.
I would employ Mads to talk me to sleep every night
Dick Grayson only if you want to never wake up... ;)
You think he got that for Christmas?
'Praying' - Alex Gray
if I'm not wrong that is.
I know he's an actor and he's playing a role but this man freaks me out. He's Hannibal Lecter playing with all of us. Com'on, who the hell would accept an invite for dinner from this man?
Mads done a great job taking over from Anthony Hopkins, I'm not saying he's the same but at least he is believable.
I prefer Mikkelsen's rendition.
He's been Hannibal for longer so his is the true definitive rendition, anyways. At least for this point in time in the life of the character.
Really enjoying the new season of Hannibal.

Believe it or not, I'm here for the sweater🤣
Admirável e inesquecível, Hannibal!
He's so mesmerizing and disarming, I would find myself suddenly wondering if (over the course of the interview) he was always assessing me for my "tenderness". Then I'd have nightmares for a week, wondering if I was somehow uncouth.
Dang, he's gonna be in Kung Fu Panda 3 also.
He is so perf and adorable
I love how he says 'two' 😂

Best show on tv. That is all.

Hannibal is a baddie tho 😍😍😍😳😳🥵🥵🥵😫😫✨✨
They don make'em like this anymore , do they :/
🥺🥺

Can somebody please explain what exactly happened in season 1? I am so confused. Did Hannibal kill everyone?
no! Hannibal is innocent man!
Thing is I also thought Hannibal loved Abigail, and he supposedly killed her. What happened there?
***** but so has Will and he's definitely more of a threat to Hannibal, and I assume Bedelia knew to some extent as well and he let her get away once too.
I don´t think Hannibal killed Abigail, I´m convinced that he locked her in the basement
*****
Your naivety is cute.
***** I'm pretty sure Bryan said in an interview that Abigail is most definitely dead. I guess Hannibal is just a very confusing creature.
wow messages from 6 years ago "well yes but actually no" suits here so well lmao, i assume you guys watched the rest, rooting for season 4?
