I actually think the most attractive thing about Mads is more how he carries himself. He just exudes calm but also he is interesting. He makes you want to know more about him and weirdly you know instinctively that there is so much more to him. He has perfected the art of a man of few words but what he says is worth listening to. Obviously he is a nice looking man but it’s definitely more about his quiet confidence rather then how he looks.

Just like there are gorgeous men who don’t interest me in the slightest. There are so many elements to attraction I think that is a bit of a ridiculous statement. With him it’s more then him been quiet he is extremely charming and like I said he gives off the impression he has more going on then what he says. When he was younger he was very fresh faced and while attractive it didn't really go with his bone structure and while he's aged he's really come into himself. Mads is like an abstract painting. He is beautiful in a way I can't describe. I can't find a word I feel could do him justice. He has like a rough, ethereal look to him. But at the same time he looks commandingly aristocratic. Mads oozes this form of mature, absolute, confident masculinity. Not un-aware masculinity that breeds toxicity, but just *mature* masculinity. I feel as if someone were to sneak a quick glance at him, in the same way one would a Picaso painting, the appreciation lies in the interpretation.

Would be interesting to analyze how beauty standards change over time. Renaissance paintings are meant to depict the ideal image of man/woman but a lot of us today would maybe see these people as just okay looking. An even more recent example is JFK, who's often considered one of the best looking Presidents in US history, but even though we have pictures of him people today might not find him nearly as attractive.

The thing is that today the standards are more competitive on a global scale. Just until half a century ago, people's lives were just about their near surroundings, there were pretty people, but people compared with what they saw in real life, for example, the prettiest girl in the neighborhood or town... then with movie stars people started comparing themselves with a more specific group of people who were usually chosen because they looked pretty on film. A fun fact I found is that in early film, there were many more stars with darker eyes, even very dark brown, because they photograph better on black and white instead of lighter eyes, like pale green and blue, that looked ghostly. Now, with TV and Internet, beauty is "globalized". Now isn't enough to be the prettiest girl in the neighborhood, some people start comparing themselves to a much narrower group of people who are considered attractive. Anyways, there were also different standards of beauty usually reflecting societies' hardships and accomplishments.

Also I think he has the same effect Cillian Murphy has, where they both have very masculine jaws and amazing cheekbones but very feminine pretty eyes. I guess his open, round eyes and rather arched eyebrows could be considered more feminine. This is a contrast to his strong jawline etc. Also he has a rather small and not a long face, so no matter how strong his jawline is, there are other aspects which are more feimine and this builds a contrast.

@Blair Waldorf Obviously this is somewhat subjective. However, in my opinion I believe her face was uniquely beautiful. I think it's the softness of her features (which ultimately went with age) and the hardness of her jaw. Also, each individual feature was not 'perfect' but I think all together they gave her that wow factor; it's what he was saying before about the optimal mix.
