You should also show how to get rid of them. We need balance and only allowing to grow is not good. They are most easily dealt with by spraying gasoline on leaves at night from what I understand.
This alternative approach you suggest is based on understanding what needs to be improved, studying the variety of mangroves structures, salinity… so it is an holistic approach on BIO-diversity . Not just planting like monocultures do, or traditional restoration (only offering a linear range of a same specie). Very instructive.

Controlled branch cutting is an excellent way to utilize the mangroves with out destroying the whole tree...
