19 Premier League clubs vote against scrapping VAR

Premier League clubs today voted in favour of continuing to operate VAR in the Premier League. While VAR produces more accurate decision making, it was agreed that improvements should be made for the benefit of the game and supporters. Sky Sports News has been told Wolves were the only club to vote for VAR to be scrapped. All the other 19 clubs voted for it to continue, with certain criteria for improvement.

It also makes better decisions than it was before it, so despite it's flaws, it's still better now than before.

I used to hate all the controversies and fights about wrong calls back then. Now the complaints are mostly about time wastage. I'd rather they waste a bit of time and get it right than get it wrong and move things along quickly.
VAR is about to relegate wolves single handedly.

Noooooooo. It's not the machines at fault but the people operating them.
The "clear and obvious error" rule is the problem. The VAR official is a qualified referee and should be able to make calls without worrying about the on-field referee. Game-changing moments should be up to the VAR because, at the end of the day, the VAR has the angles to be able to make a better-informed decision. Angles that the on-field ref does not have access to.
Thank god, can you imagine going back to obvious offside goals being allowed...yes I know there's the Liverpool Spurs game but var gets a lot right which people take for granted.
Not fixing var, not pursuing charges against city, randomly taking away points from teams whenever they feel like it, and now actually being sued by city. Somebody give me 1 good reason i should bother watching any of this league next season. its all completely fake and rigged and theres nothing entertaining about any of anymore

I think the innovation of having a wrist-like monitor on the Referee hand could save a lot of time instead of going to the touchline screen and also having the assistant referees should partake in decision making , not only the main Referee
All of those points that have been made, lets just hope that we see improvements. It can be a great tool but only when it is used in the correct way

Glad they will try to aim for higher level of consistency, it seems that would fix a majority of my complaints and with new tech being introduced speeding up time should make it feel even better. Hoping for the best 👍

Usually us and commentators see if a decision was wrong of the referee and for sure VAR sees it straight away too, if they are not incompetent, and they should tell him to revert his decision. True is he listens to the players they would need another game. It's frustrating to have VAR and see a corner is not given to your favorite team.
I have an expertise at scrutinizing videos that are being played, and I am able to resolve any biases that may be present in the VAR. However, I'M AFRAID OF THE BIAS POLITIC (OF OVERLOOKING PARTIES) CURRENT IN THESE VAR ROOMS. Fans and team owners are not inclined to trust these individuals in these rooms because of what we witness on a daily basis. in particular in England.
NOTHING ABOUT THE IMPROVEMENT OF EVERYTHING SAID IS A COMPLAINT, but i will agree on 20%.
They have to enhance impartiality and dependable oversight.

VAR is not the problem,but The poor Referee is the Big Problem.
EPL needs to clarify and simplify the rules. And give proper training to referees. Sometimes even coaches don't understand the rules, especially handball rules. Referees are being asked to apply unclear rules in a split of a second.

Var has ruined a lot of Forest games last season and a lot of other premier league clubs games but it needs to improve next season otherwise a lot of clubs will be in trouble of going down next season including Ipswich
Removing VAR is not the solution, nevertheless they should improve and make fair decisions through it.

The media has a big part to play in how VAR is looked at going fwd.
No more refs with links to the current PGMOL reviewing decisions and telling everyone what they can see with their own eyes is wrong as the former professionals laugh at him.
No more Howard Webb cherry picking and marking his own homework. Skys VAR show should have a journalist who's an expert in the laws & a ref who's removed from the current crop reviewing the audio independently & talking through what went well and what didn't. Webb et al should only have a right of reply.

Vague recommendations will lead to vague rules open to interpretations and misuse by people whose integrity, loyalty or competency is in question. Like Webb should retire.
I hope referees are the one who ask VAR to review incidents other than offsides. This will give refs the final authority on the field

There was so many bad moments last season var staying of of fights brentford v villa, not giving valid penalties everton v forest (cough fire stewart attwell), getting a ref to blow whistle man city v spurs that last one the var said a name afterward ref blew so var was at fault also punish refs if dumb decisions happen

I am ok with VAR for offsides, potential red card fouls and mistake identification. Things like foul play outside the penalty box leading to goals and penalties should just be the opinion of the referee without VAR interference.

Personally, I preferred when there was no VAR even though there were more bad decisions.
Really dislike the way a lot of the time you can't celebrate a goal fully until you're sure there's no check / until the check is complete.

As a fan of the game, I can’t believe the clubs are happy to keep this insidious rule. The game is played by humans who make mistakes, managers make mistakes, coaches make mistakes and Referees most importantly make mistakes. What a disgrace! Leave the game alone!
Fantastic decision. It's not the technology's fault. But that's step one. Step two is educating the referees to make fairer decisions.
People don't want to understand it. Removing VAR is not the only solution. Yes, there are lots of things lacking , but those should be improved for fair play.

Also, there's is zero evidence to suggest that Man City paid or have been proven to pay referees. And it's evident through the many decisions come against us that get swept under the carpet because the biased media would only want to sensationalize the decisions in our favour in the big moments because it fits the narrative.
