    Thanks guys. This truck has a Mack AI-350 engine. I've always lived front loaders since I was a kid, so yeah, this is like clocking in to have fun for me :-) Front end does pay very well, not so much for DeKalb, because we're government, but the potential is good at a private hauler to bring home 900 or better per week. We however have tons of sick and annual leave, something you won't find at a private hauler so in some ways, it kinda balances out. I just have to be smart about my money. Right now, I have over 1000 hrs of sick leave and I was recently out for about a month with a broken hand. If trucks are your thing, especially these, I say go for it.

    Good job bro! I too am a front loader driver here in Hawaii. Been doing this for over 37 years! Currently driving a 2019 Peterbilt with a Whittke box, with a tag axle, in Waikiki. Have a scout truck who works with me, being a lot of my bins are under buildings, as well as a number of pull outs that I have to push out myself, and a few stabbers here and there.Gotta do what we gotta do! Yessah!

    Damn that MACK runs like a beast. Especially when the fan kicks on. You're a boss of an operator by the way. After almost a 20 year run as a truck driver I'm ready to move into refuse collection to end my driving career. But I want to run residential side loaders. That's my favorite garbage truck. Not a big fan of FL and I would never do manual RL. Hahaa. Hope I can get on at Republic Services in Vegas.

    This is a pretty neat view. I didn't get through the whole video, but what I did was quite enjoyable =] You are quick, in and out like a pro! haha Looks like a lot of your work is pretty close together seeing this video - not a hell of a lot of driving, unless this doesn't show the average area. Also do you always drive with the forks lowered or sometimes folded against the arms? I like where the back-up camera is located.

    I'm about to get an interview for hire next week. I'll have 90 days to train get my CDL. What class CDL is it and is this truck manual or automatic.

    • @CoolHandMacc
      @CoolHandMacc  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      J Flo I personally have a Class A, some companies do require it for front loaders, however, most municipalities only ask that you have a Class B to drive them. We have 6speed automatic Allison's in the trucks here.

    I have a phone interview with waste management on Monday is why I ask.

    • @CoolHandMacc
      @CoolHandMacc  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Erik Caldwell ours don't. Most guys will have their own personal GPS or use their phone. Waste will train you before letting you go out on your own, still a good idea to have your own GPS though.

    Hey ThaThunderStorm, what's the process like for getting employed as a front loader driver? Is it the type of position that you have to work your way up to/based on Seniority, or is it merely based on your commercial driving experience? I currently have a CDL-A. Thanks :)

    I got hired on right out of CDL school, but got let go because I could not learn the route fast enough because they used route sheets. Any suggestions?

    • @CoolHandMacc
      @CoolHandMacc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear that. If a route sheet isn't sequenced correctly, it can greatly slow you down on an unfamiliar route. My advice learn your route as best you can in regards to business names and addresses. It aeems like a lot at first, but it gets easier as you become more familiar with where you are going. Look for a company that is more new driver friendly as well, sounds like a pretty unfair reason to let you go. Most haulers will train you thoroughly on equipment, routes and paperwork before they turn you loose on your own.

    • @Michaelnolan1988
      @Michaelnolan1988 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a small family owned company with a lot of turnover and I could see why. He did not even let me give my former employer a full 2 weeks notice and they were upset about that so that should of been the first red flag. Secondly, he said in the interview that if I did not get it within the first 2 weeks then he did not know what to tell me. I'm thinking, yeah that's really supportive of you! The company was ran by the son and the two parents owned it. I interviewed with Republic and they seemed more thorough with their training which is more like 6 weeks. Hopefully I land something soon. Thank you for your advice brother. God bless.

    • @Qukslvr
      @Qukslvr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not easy to get the hang of in just 2 weeks. If you’ve never driven frontload before then I’d say you won’t show signs of being comfortable working the truck until your 4th week.
