- This is my first version of Space Mountain that I have done on Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. Let me know what you think by commenting. If you notice that the Theme song is a little fast thats because I had to use time correction to speed it up a little so that it would finish with the coaster. Also the first part of the audio where it says to keep arms and legs inside the ship all the way til you get out of the blue tunnel lights was by / thecoasterviews on his Space Mountain POV since the Space Mountain Theme Audio Track doesn't do that audio. Even the blinding flash of light from the camera at the end was replicated perfectly!
I have a hard time believing Space Mountains max speed is only 35mph. I am used to driving my car at speeds up to 140kph on the highway changing lanes and remain calm. But Space Mountain made my body feel all light and woozy after the ride. People say the speed is just an illusion of being in the dark. I rode it more than once expecting the darkness and sharp turns but it still felt much faster than 35mph. This ride really blows my mind, the speed just felt too real.
I had the incredible opportunity to ride Disneyland's Space Mountain several times with the lights on, and I can assure you that it is not going very fast at all. The trim brakes actually do quite a lot of work slowing down the vehicles to keep them within each block zone. The irony is that it is actually scarier riding Space Mountain with the lights on, because you can see just how close you are to losing a hand, a head, or a finger on all the steel girders. There's a reason why the safety spiel says, "keep your hands, arms, and legs inside the vehicle at all time."
I haven't gotten a chance to ride Space Mountain at Disneyland, but I hope to soon. The thing I liked about Space Mountain at Disney World was that it was so dark and you had no idea where you were going,since you couldn't see the tracks. I did, however, think that it was a bit jerky, so maybe the Disneyland version is smoother. The comment about just seeing stars and feeling like you are floating in space is how I felt, too. Great ride.
It’s way better bc it’s smoother and the on board audio makes it the experience way better!
The Disneyland version is also pitch-black with only scattered stars (assuming you don't ride it with a seasonal overlay like Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain), but the larger vehicles are more comfortable, the on-board audio is more exhilarating, and the track is far smoother. Disneyland's version is better by far, simply because the Imagineers learned a lot from building the original at Walt Disney World.
I did both and I will say Disneyland is much better. The track is less jerky, music adds to the experience and you can sit next to your friend.

This is the closest one will get to experiencing Space Mountain without actually being ON it.
Aahh I love this ride!! of course when on the ride you can't see the railings because it's pitch black except for the stars.. Really feels like you're in space ^_^ with bursts of air hitting you and sudden drops that you can't see.. Aahh, This is the one here in Disneyland
so this is what space moutain looks like..... i would not know because i always close my eyes when i ride it... it looks great

Riding Space Mountain is why my re occurring nightmares are riding highways with dead ends that go higher with narrowing roads.

There are some dvd's "Behind the scenes" "Undiscovered Disney Parks" "Ultimate Disney Parks" that have interviews with imagineers that say 35 mph. I don't really care how fast it goes, but 35 mph has actually been given as a Space Mountain speed.
I think it is so close to orignal that I started feeling that I am in the ride or at laptop. great work.keep it up

And believe me, you're in the dark with just the lights and we even know if it is upside down or up .And more it goes fast and the atmosphere at the start is quite discouraging. maybe I'm stupid, but this is my experience.

when i was 4, my mom took me on space mountain in disneyworld and all that i can remember right now about the ride was that u were flying through all the stars

In DisneyWorld, you don't see the tracks period. It's all stars, and it feels like your floating all over outerspace.

This Space Mountain has a WAAAYYY better sound system than WDW's and I love how you can't see the track in front of you and you have that cold air blowing in your face the entire time. WDW's is more thrilling and nostalgic though. Much more like the Matterhorn.

wow this is actually extremely accurate. Nice work! Very enjoyable. I miss Disneyland so much, haha so youtube videos are how I get close to it again. And Space Mountain being a dark ride, there's no good live action videos of it. So this helped a lot :)
