Kids Who Spent A Ton Of Their Parents' Money On Gaming

  • We’ve all been there - we download a free game, get hooked on the first couple levels, realize we can afford a few in-app purchases, and before we know it, we’ve spent $4,000 building a virtual farm. OK, maybe we haven’t ALL been there (at least hopefully not), but these kids have.
    These kids weren't old enough to have credit cards of their own yet, but they got access to a parent’s, and instead of going all Ferris Bueller with the cash flow, they went modern and decided to spend it on in-app purchases in video games. Let’s take a look at some times kids spent an insane amount of money on gaming.

    This is actually stupid. I'm 14 going on 15 and to see that kids my age act like this absolutely sickens me. They know what they're doing, it's just that they're tricking the adults into thinking they don't.

      Evy! Not all kids do. The value of money and discipline isn’t the same for everybody. That’s why these micro transactions are exploitative. It’s like selling addictive drugs then blaming people for being addicted to drugs. See the problem ?

    There is a setting called "Parental Control" or something similar in every device. Also, what happened to paying attention to your children. I see this all the time. Parents don't know the nature of content in the games they are buying or the option for loot boxes and other in-game buying options. Too many parents let Apple, Google, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft play the parental role.

  • @specterent
    @specterent 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    This is why parents that actually know how to parent activate the option to require passwords on iPad, iPhone, PS3, PS4, and XB1 and then don't let the kid know the password!

    The part that i don’t get is HOW do these kids have access to their parents bank info, like it’s not as easy as everyone says, it’s fully the parents responsibility that these kids don’t get access to that because they’re unpredictable, it’s better to buy a Gift card for apple/ android etc then there’s a limit on how much they can spend.

    When I was a kid none of these types of things weren’t available!! I’m lucky that I have my living expenses paid by the state but I don’t get any extra money from them to play games or buy stuff that I want so I work part time so that I can make the money for those things! I don’t have Dragon City anymore but I do have a couple of games that I play and I do spend money on them probably more than I should but I do enjoy them

    Dragonglass (see NIght's Watch expeditions and follies, Children of the Forest etc.)
    Valyrian Steel (See Jon Snow killing White Walkers with Longclaw).
    A well placed arrow or spear to the eye of a Dragon (multiple examples in the books).

    That’s why these micro transactions are exploitative and should be banned. It’s like selling addictive drugs then blaming people for being addicted to drugs. See the problem ? You can’t blame the addicts you should blame the people selling addiction. Some countries are already banning it, we here in USA need to take some damn responsibility for this disgusting greedy and exploitative practices.

    I can't blame the kids (for the most part). The parents should be setting up the stuff. From day 1, my son knew not to buy anything w/o permission. I blame lazy parents for not doing what should've been done as soon as the system was turned on. Awesome vid, tho :D

    They shouldn't get refunds, consider it payment for letting your ipad do the parenting, much like how you pay a child minder. All the kids mentioned in this video are far too young and it's ironically the parents that are irresponsible.
