This is pinned comment for future updates! Pricing is key, though varying on different models. Currently (as of May 2022): -DJI Action 2 Dual-Screen: $440 -Action 2 Power Combo: $340 -ONE RS Twin-Edition: $550 A few more notes I didn't have time to add: -I prefer the larger and brighter OLED screen on the Action 2. Easier to toggle settings over ONE RS smaller screen -Action 2 can have dual screen which is nice for framing shots whichever direction the camera is facing
The Insta360 One R, One RS and One X2 have the wireless receiver build right in :) It can connect to bluetooth headsets or bluetooth microphones like the InstaMic or the SabineTek SmartMike+. I would not recommend the SabineTek one though. It's a bit buggy at times.
Thanks for sharing that note! I've never heard of InstaMic before, I'll have to check it out. While I appreciate the bluetooth functionality, it won't come close to the range or reliability of a true digital RX. (The DJI Wireless Mic is using 2.4GHz, just like RODE Go, and others)
@@AuthenTech InstaMic is a product that was launched as a Kickstarter years ago. It's even waterproof, so it goes perfectly with action cameras and their purpose. And you are correct, that even though the quality of that particular one is really good, it doesn't quite compare to a wireless mic with a better sample rate, for sure. It does however surpass anything you'd get out of a headset or earbuds. And if you use it as a standalone recorder, then the newest iteration of the InstaMic can record in 32-bit float, which very few of the other ones can. (Yes, the Røde Wireless Go II can export in 32-bit float, but it records internally in 24-bit, so the 32-bit float export is just 24-bit with padded zeros)
Correct, the DJI Wireless Mic is currently $329: amzn.to/3Nk3HwA - And what is the wireless mic called you can buy for the ONE RS? I know you can use bluetooth mics, but they don't sound very good
Stabilization example - in your "DJI Action 2 vs Osmo Action 1" video at 7:07, on the scooter the action 2 is extremely smooth but on the bike in this video it is really unstable.
Hardest thing with these cams is getting more batteries. They are very expensive because almost none remaked batteries are available until now. You can only buy originals which cost $ 40 upwards just for one. So if you plan to travel off road/civilisation it is a very expensive experience to be equiped with enough spare batteries.
The DJI action 2 needs a casing to make their modules waterproof [other than the main camera module] add $65 Insta 360 RS is waterproof all modules, all around without any additional case
Yeah, I find that pretty lame on the Action 2, I wish all it's modules were waterproof without a case needed. But then again, I personally rarely get put them underwater
I'd like u to do a video on the gh5 1 inch sensor vs up comin go pro 11 [rumoured] 1 inch sensor... I hv the hero10, will upgrade to the 12 next year.. as u said switching is expensive... the lcd increased size on go pro 11 is a usless gimic
Also, as far as I know, the Insta is waterproof with all its modules, while the DJI is just waterproof when it's not attached to any other module, right?
Great mention, thanks for sharing! I think you're right, the Action 2 camera unit alone is waterproof, the other modules are not due to exposed ports. (DJI has a waterproof housing for $65) Insta360 ONE RS is waterproof when snapped together, and they recommend it should be "in the mounting cage" for secure/snug waterproofing.
If I want just a normal video my phone is enough. But a 360° camera really gives me something different. The best stability and the reframing option are the key aspects. If I want the best image quality, the most rugged camera and the best slow motion I would go for the GoPro 11. As good as the DJI is, it is in a hard position between Insta360 and GoPro, without differential factors aside the price
HELP!! We are off to Disney World followed by a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas. We are looking for something to capture videos and pictures, especially for under water in the Bahamas. I keep considering an action cam, can you recommend any other options that might suit our needs please?
great vlog. Can I know what is the model and type of tripod you mounted Insta360 One RS in the video? Also, is Insta360 One RS easy to view photos or videos taken on the spot? if not, which model is a better option?
Need your suggestion for the best action camera for moto vlogging, with good image stabilization and sound quality with noise cancellation except GoPro
Thanks for the excellent, thorough review. Can you comment on what is better to use: in-camera stabilization or post production stabilization for One RS? thanks, Greg
Great question, I need to do more testing, but I believe the post production stabilization for ONE RS might be better than in-camera... I'm just guessing though.
I like your videos so much - just continue that way, please. But maybe you could give me some advice: I'm looking for a small (action) video camera for capturing videos and some fotos by doing mtb on flowy trails as well as spending our time at the beach or climbing or doing some city actions - what do you think would be the best choice: insta360 one rs or dji action 2, perheaps the pocket 2? Thanks for your answer in advance.
correct me if Im wrong. But for PoV action, camera on your body. Looked like 360 was way smoother. Was it the shirt? How about it you mounted it on your head? Im looking for a camera for action I see. Sound will be upclose too. I want to be hands free and record up close on the action I see in front of me. But there going to be a lot of movement on my part. wider is better with out distorting too. Or does the GoPro win out on this?
The 360 was much better for stabilization. Same shirt. Magnetic necklace. I think it's because 360 captures more pixels/data, plus the Insta360 FlowState is really good
@@AuthenTech You got me looking into al these. But seems like the time Im needing and gong to buy another camera. GoPro 11 will be out. So crossing fingers. IM personally looking for Upclose PoV camera, That can control my movements, and cleaner/clearer Low Light ability. It be kind of cool to have a auto adjusting ISO like my D850 does from Nikon.
I'm pretty sure that the LRV files are only so that you can use the mobile phone or device to preview or watch your footage so they're not as important and post processing
I'm not against the LRV files, I'm all for the quick preview on mobile phone. Just wish the organization and file naming was better organized, compared to DJI and GoPro
Nice review!! I really want to see a video comparison between the old trusty Sony fdr ax55 and some of the newer cameras and I know your the man for this!! I'm in the market for a camera filming outdoor stuff as well as nature clips etc but the Sony (from the little videos I saw) gives me the looks of an old video camera if it makes sense. Do you have any recommendations on this ? Thanks!!
That Sony is a great classic camcorder (good for zoom), however it won't have that ultra wide FOV you might want for action/POV shots. Action cams or new phones with ultra-wide lens are good for that.
10:57 DJI Action 2 stabilization is terrible in this video how was this not talked about. It must be because it's so light and put on your shirt and was completely swinging around and the Insta 360 being heavy and bigger was more physically stable.
awesome comparison, i still new in action camera and looking for one. What better when put it on body (hands free)? I interested with DJI Osmo Action, DJI Action 2, GoPro Hero 8 and Insta 360 One RS/X2
GoPro 8 is trash, run away. If you want GoPro, gotta get the newest 10, they made big improvements there. If you want lots of body mounted wide angle shots, the X2 (or ONE RS 360 mod) is the best wide POV with great stabilization. All of them have different pros and cons of course.
Returning the Insta360 One RS is like pulling teeth. I’m not happy with mine and I wish this video was out before I bought it. I might MIGHT go with the DJI Action 2 as my DJI Mic kit has FINALLY shipped.

Your whole video seemed that you favoured the dji mainly because of the mic. You were so negative about the RS, and funny enough the rs ext mic is the better mic. This whole video should be redone by someone who knows what they are on about. The insta has the best software by far, on your phone, no computer needed. Too much misinformation. Poor review
Dji is good but when you are on the bike is so shaky I think the insta 360 go 2 is better for that. Price of the dji is way to much, I ll get a 360 one r and a go 2 for that price. Actually that is what I have. 😁

And this is one of the few that only left me asking more questions like can the insta360 work with the d j i? I believe it can...What does it sound like with the dji?..who knows🤷 you're too busy pumping up the DJ I name which is a great name and great products but this video just screams by DJ I and in the real world And a real non-biased reviewer....that just may not be the case... But who cares what I say I'm not giving you any free products so who am I to you right ? The DGI wireless mic is great but has nothing to do with the camera comparison and costs $300.

The DJI's stabilization on the bike was horrendous. Apart from that, and the overheating issues, I think the DJI is better.
