Thanks for this very helpful video.
You are a great teacher. I learn a lot. I donated. Mandoline-greetings from Belgium
i picked up mandolin in our first lockdown, since then i have become a regular session musician on the west coast of Scotland. I can play melodies happily but chords are always something that have baffled my brain, your video are the best i have seen (for me) the way you explain things plain and simple works for me. so thank you for the videos, i cant wait to hear more from you.
Thanks for this. I'm a beginner، and I've been playing these chords for a while now but never made the connection between the keys that I need to play in. Great lesson.
So helpful, thank you.
Well I got lost as soon as you went to D. Lol. I've studied piano, guitar, violin, now mandolin. Chords and scales, blah.
But you are my go to online guy. I like your presentation, and voice.
I never had any (theoretical) understanding of music, nor the ambition or motivation to look into it. The whole picture of keys and chords and major and minor and a bunch of other words i never even heard before still feels a little overwhelming at times.
Your beginners series, your website and some of your other videos, like this one, really take the pressure out of learning all this stuff.
I used to feel like i was standing in front of a mountain of theoretical knowledge that i had to climb completely in one go to get good at playing any instrument, but now i'm aware it's probably enough to walk up to the first cabin and take a rest there for starters. :D
I now realise what kind of an idiotic elitist my music teacher in school was :D
Thanks!
Awesome!.👌
You make it easy
You teach a lot about the left hand, but I would like to know how you are working the right hand. Your GCD demo always makes me happy except I have trouble getting the strumming to make things work. Maybe because I am stupid. I have learned a lot from these videos. I just wish I could play something that sounded half as good as you. :)
You’re not stupid! Just keep practicing and most of all having fun :)
You only need 6 chords...to play a I-IV-V progression in four keys. Whatcha got for those of us who like a lower-case sound?
Started off OK but I'm afraid you lost me when you started moving beyond D G and A. Probably me, but think it could have been more clearly explained.
I don't understand why chord shapes are such a secret on the mandolin. Please just show us those 6 chords in the most basic shapes.
I played guitar happily for years never knowing what key I was in or what number the chord I was playing.
I was shown how to make the basic chord shapes and I strummed along all happy. I was playing guitar.
I feel like you gave us a lot of great theory here but missed the boat for beginners like me who don't know the chord shapes.
Baron, I'm a huge fan of yours maybe I just missed another video where you covered it.
Thanks
He has other lessons where he covers chord shapes. Watch the other videos, he has many. It would have been redundant to go over the shapes.
He says it's not a video about cord voicings.
@@CountGraduon I agree 100% but spending one more minute to cover the 6 chords would be nice... I've searched his channel and not finding what I'd like...
@@preparados1917 I've been following him for 2 years, and "sort of" looking for it...
I'm a huge fan of Baron's... Just a tiny opinion on my part 🙂
