    Thank you a million times because I was struggling how to clean the pump itself ❤

    You left out a VERY key component to clean. That is the pump impeller. You can grab one of the impeller blades with pliers or tweezers and pull it out. If you don’t clean that you’ll find poor pump performance and life.

      Good to know. Thanks for sharing! We'll be sure to clean the pump impeller from here on out.

      Where is this located ?

    • @rplieth
      @rplieth 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@strawberrycatnap 2:52, it is the white spinning impeller, it's magnetically held in. If you can get a fork or ever better, needlenose pliers... it will come right out so you can clean it and the shaft it sits in.

    Thanks for the help man, I was looking for a new filter for the fountain cuz this one was very dirty, but I cleaned it up the way you did it and it looks like new, again thanks!

      Happy to help! It is recommended to change the filter every month or so. You can buy replacement filters for the Veken pet fountains on Amazon!

    Didn't work on mine. It was bubbling, then I unplugged to clean and refill. I plugged it in, and nothing happened. I found your instructions, and started all over, following each of your steps, including the actuator. It was dingy, but nothing that would have stopped it. I tried a few more times, and nothing. The blue light was flashing, but the pump didn't move. It was now 1 a.m. on a Sunday night, and the cats wanted their fountain water, so I cannibalized a Homedics fountain I had, and put the pump into the cat fountain. It doesn't pump strong enough to make a great flow out of the top; it's more like a trickle, but if it keeps the water bubbling for the kitties until tomorrow, i can try to see if i can get it to move more water. It's now 1:30 am and im going to watch it for a few more minutes to make sure there are no other problems, then my tired behind is going to bed!

      Sorry that you're having trouble with your cat fountain! We suggest you contact the brand directly or perhaps where you bought it from for assistance with your broken fountain. Best of luck!

    what would you use to deal with the calcium build up on the lid, sometimes piece break off in the water and go down into the water

    • @tonyc7352
      @tonyc7352 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Soak (submerge) for hours in straight vinegar. For some areas/parts that can't really be submerged apply a vinegar-soaked piece of paper towel on them. Periodically wet that paper towel with more vinegar to keep it saturated. Afterwards you can even use your finger nail to scrape such calcium build-up off or just a plastic scraper or use the 3M scotch brite PINK pad (the gentle clean/delicate one - only the pink one on plastic). If some stubbornly stays , then hit it with more hours of vinegar contact. Then scrape again.

    How often should the pump filter be replaced? I think the carbon filter is suggested every 2 weeks.

    • @CatsterOfficial
      @CatsterOfficial  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! Certain brands and products may differ but most water fountains require you to change the charcoal filter every 2-4 weeks. This also depends how many pets use the fountain. If you notice more debris and slimy stuff when cleaning your fountain every 2 weeks, you may need to replace the pump filter more frequently.

    • @Sheena88893
      @Sheena88893 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CatsterOfficial so, the pump filter needs to be replaced every 2 weeks too? Not the white filter, but the black one in the pump?

    • @CatsterOfficial
      @CatsterOfficial  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Sheena88893 yes, every 2-4 weeks depending on how much debris it collected upon cleaning the fountain. Isabel says Milly is an only-child and she has other water sources so the filters doesn't get that dirty in two weeks. She replaces the white and black filters every 4 weeks and cleans the fountain (and the filters) every 2 weeks. I hope that helps!

    question, i don’t have any refills of the sponge filter and it looks like pink bacteria started growing in it. what should i do? put it back in until i get some refills or go to a plain water bowl for now?

    • @bossbaby5743
      @bossbaby5743 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would go plain water for now because that filter will just contaminate the water immediately

    • @CatsterOfficial
      @CatsterOfficial  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, definitely don't let your cat drink from water with potential bacterial contamination. Provide ample clean water in a bowl for your cat and order new filters and sponge refills on Amazon for the specific fountain you have.

    No dish soap!!

    • @CatsterOfficial
      @CatsterOfficial  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      A mild, unfragranced, non-toxic soap is okay to use. It's good to remove germs and bacteria that inevitably form with food or water-based items. You can check with your local veterinarian for brands they recommend are good and safe.
      This is also why many pet dishes, bowls, etc. are labeled as dishwasher safe too (they can be cleaned with the detergent in the dishwasher). Just be sure to rinse and dry well after washing.
