Hey everyone, this is a re-edited Natalie White story video since the prior one I uploaded was struck down by TH-cam. I guess they are Russell Hantz fans. Please enjoy!
Eric’s jury speech is absolutely incredible because he advocates and validates Natalie’s game. Sometimes you win Survivor by being the nicest person at the end
The speech is kind of ridiculous though saying basically he’d vote for a rock next to Russell because it wasn’t arrogant. I hate Russell but like imagine him giving that speech for Woo against Tony or Natalie Tenerelli against Boston Rob lol. Some juries are just more bitter than others and that’s the game. Erik was saying a lot of fancy words to say I’m just voting for Natalie not cause she played a better game but as a moral protest vote which is fine but be honest about it lol.
Think about it this way. This is what survivor was all about when it started. Jeff always says battling the elements and each other. They must learn to adapt or they’ll be voted out. The intentions were clearly that the nicest person would win. However the tagi 4 made it so that it wasn’t the nicest person who one it was the most strategic. Russell took his approach to the extreme and pissed off everybody making the jury give to the win to the nicest person which Natalie clearly knew she could due when she stated in a confessional that she was going to stay close to Russel because she knew she could beet him. She had a hidden strategy, it wasn’t luck. The luck of the season was Russell swan’s med evac because without that I bet there would be a near perfect pagonging of the foa foa tribe.
Natalie is the definition of work smarter not harder. She played the game her own way and the editors did her dirty by clearly favoring Russell (who was a good player in his own way, and more entertaining, but that didn't make him the better player). There is more than one way to play the game Natalie knew if she played even a little bit like Russell she would've been voted out in a heartbeat. She mastered the social game knowing that it wasn't over just because a a jurors torch was snuffed. She 100% deserved the win.
What Russell failed to realize is that while he was calling the shots and thought of himself as the puppeteer, he was being a big meat shield for Natalie attracting all the bitterness towards himself. Sure helps that Natalie is a genuine and sweet person but still... Russell's biggest enemy was himself Played to get to the end, didn't account for all the bridges he had to burn to get there
a lot of russell fans will deny this forever lol. major point of the game is literally to convince people who you had a hand in voting off, to vote you to win 1 mil. people will not give a jerk 1 million dollars if they have the choice.
You can say Natalie didnt play the best game of all time, but she played a really impressive one prospectively/socially to be able to realize fairly early on that everyone hated Russell and just playing nice with the other tribe and never doing anything to earn the ire of Russell gets her the win even without pulling all the strings or being a challenge beast
Ooh I think I just spotted some sleeper storytelling 29:50, they dedicate 2 minutes of the episode to Natalie unexpectedly hunting a rat and then Kelly's leaving speech is her calling Russel a sneaky rat. I think this is a purposeful foreshadowing of Natalie's win
They even kept in the part where all the other tribe members said they were impressed, and didn't think she had it in her to kill a rat. Little did they know that she did, and in more ways that one.
Not the flashiest player but she knew what she was doing There’s reasons that Liz and Ashley weren’t chosen by Russell to go the end, she got close to him and convinced him that taking her was the best move even after she made friends with Galu
She basically rode coattails, was flying under the radar, and even if she made moves by herself it wasn't that recognized. But basically even she admitted that her strategy was going to be "be underestimated and don't be overaggresive (to not end up like Marisa or Ashley), but also build relationships". And it worked.
Survivor is a very complicated game, that's why we love it i guess! But, if i had to sum up how to win it in just one sentence i would say...."Survivor is won by the person MOST RESPECTED of those who get to the end". If you go through each winner, and keep in mind the edit we see is not the whole story, these people live in harsh conditions 24/7 with each other for weeks...they see the best and worst of each other and get to know each other very well, but i think you will not find an unrespected winner, unless they are sitting alongside someone even less respected.
Survivor always comes down to popularity. it doesn’t matter what moves you made. doesn’t matter how many challenges you won. that’s all fluff. in the end it comes down to how you treat people and how likable you are.
I truly hope that this video gives peoople the perspective they need as to why Natalie deserved to win. You may not catch it the first time you watch the season but ive watched samoa 4 times since and now this. It makes it clearer what is happening. Russell was an evolution to the game and what strategic villainy is. Evolution is resisted by change and the core foundation of the game. You could argue new school starts here but the main elements that got natalie the win still are relevant in season 45. Id argue a russell can never win in todays game. If emily played like she did in episode 1 the whole game she doesnt make the merge. Others too. Tony Vlachos perfected the Russell game. Recognize his villainous game mixed with charisma and charm. Russell is just mean. Tony is at least funny while playing ruthlessly and chaotic.
Until the final day, she had to adhere religiously to the second Rule for Radicals: *Never go outside the expertise of your people.* Key to that was her being the _only_ member of the tribe never to advocate for getting rid of him (and sometimes for protecting him). On the final day, she didn't need that rule anymore and could freely move to the third: *Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of your enemy.* Only then could she point out why she was taking this approach: because otherwise it would have been her.
When I look at Natalie's game it reminds me of a comment someone made where they compared Natalie to hypothetically the strongest defense of a football game vs Russell the strongest offense football game 9 times out if 10 the strongest defense will win but it is not as exciting as the strongest offense game that is why people think Natalie is a bad winner sometimes its not because she played wrong she just played differently
People like Russell who indulge in arrogance, self entitlement and ego boosting will never be able to comprehend why or how a person full of love will beat them out everytime, love beats hate always
Natalie is the optime of Rob Cesterninos view on jury management. "The jury will always vote for the person they like most at the end, and the jury will either invent or boost what it takes to win that season based on that."
this edit made me realize that Natalie was almost in danger when Laura voted out without help of immunity idol from Russel. Well, not only her attachment with Russel, but also her connection with Shambo (flip) and Brett really help her a lot to go to the end. But the edit and confensionals only about Russel, Russel, and Russel again. She realized (or not) made every jury 'i will vote you out, but you will vote me later at the end', but in soft way on the first watch you will see her as riding coat tail, but after look at this review, her social strategy was awesome.
Natalie had NOTHING to do with the Shambo flip. That was all Russell and Laura for Laura's bullying and induced hatred of Shambo led to the move. Fincher flipping was all Russell and his paranoia about a rock draw too. I agree Natalie's game was underrated, but lets also not start giving her credit for things she merits none for either.
I think the show spent 2 minutes on Natalie killing a rat because later in that episode Kelly calls Russel a rat, it's foreshadowing! And I think maybe Natalie's winner edit might be just as stealthy as Natalie's strategy itself I've never seen the whole show but I do have one other example I noticed: In the episode where Natalie befriends Laura at Foa Foa, they show a clip of a small fish swimming under a shark, and then splitting off from it. I think that clip may be the show offically declaring Natalie's connection with Laura as the moment her and Russel's strategies split, and it's that split that wins Natalie the game Meanwhile Russel's edit is so in your face that even superfans are complaining about it lmao Natalie got robbed :(
Laura was homophobic which is why she hated Shambo. No surprise she wanted the good Christian girl to win and campaigned against the Satan incarnate himself.
There’s only so much you can edit before it just makes it harder for production. Sure, they can edit people and point the audience in a certain way, but at the end of the day it’s using real clips of things these people actually said, and following real drama that happened to them. An edit doesn’t mean that they’re completely creating a new character out of these people and lying about everything they say and do.
@@jaykay1899That reasoning would work for any season but Samoa. It's so Russell focused you hardly ever see other characters that weren't in Russell's orbit and even then most of the.ones in his orbit were shown almost always discussing about him. An edit that focused on one player will always make him the favourite. Besides Samoa as a season was pretty much edited with HvV in mind and not Samoa as a full season.
If you think about it, you realise, that she would not win, if for Russells ability to find imunity idols. Because if he did not find them, Foa Foa would be anihilated. That made him her meat shield and also imunity shield. and BTW. She was the most georgeous survivor in first 20 seasons by faaaaar. (and in a lot of cases, this game shows that most of the women do not need makeup to be beautiful, because when we can see them after the game, they often are not as beautiful).
Natalie played such a brilliant game. She picked her chump early, and rode him to the end. Funnily enough, she played a similar game to early Parvati. Be very social, pick a strong player and push them on in front of you, let them do the dirty work, and pop out of their shadow at final council. Only difference is that Parvati also has strong strategic game (as shown in later seasons), and she uses sexuality and romance instead of sweetness and pure charm. People focus on the Outplay and Outwit parts, but Natalie Outlasted the greatest trial/burden on this show... Russell.
I feel like her single best move is being pretty much the sole reason why the Galu women flipped on Erik. She heard Monica (I believe it was her and not Laura) mention how sketchy he was being and it might be good to get him out and convinced the other women it was all true
1. Get to final tribal council 2. Convince the jury to give you the win That’s it. That’s what you need to win Survivor. Russell’s close-mindedness made him think that the game is just about getting to the end. He doesn’t really value the jury, whereas Natalie understood that jury management is the literal key to winning. Russell, the player? Sure I’d vote for him. Russel, the person? Never in a million years.
I think the only thing I’d say is Russell didn’t JUST think it was only about getting to the end. He thought it was about getting to the end, controlling the game the most, making the flashiest moves etc. Those things can absolutely help towards convincing jury members to vote for you. But ultimately, you need to be likeable ENOUGH for people to want to govern you a million bucks compared to the alternative. And Russell came off as such a nasty guy, the jury didn’t want to give him that.
If anything, tbh, I think Russell is a little sexist too, a little compared to Dan, but ugh, I despise how people think he is the best because they have the same mindset as him regarding discounting that the biggest part of the game is jury management and not just relying on being a grim reaper with the worst personality traits just to walk all over people and reach the end to then be like "rEsPeCt ThE gAmE". Sure...
Never before or since has any contestant been required to play the absolute barest bare bones kind of game she was forced to. Given the nature of her situation, she couldn't afford any mistakes. (Just look at Marisa and Monica for proof.) I've been answered more than once that her strategy was the easiest of any to replicate. It is not for nothing that the *social* aspect is cited so often in counterarguments. Survivor is about personality management / relationship management in a pressure environment. This is Russell's _blind spot,_ and it came into play at the end game, when all of his strong suits would become useless.
I will forever hate the editing for Samoa. The editing is supposed to explain to the audience why this person won, instead we got a winner's edit for someone who lost. This massive mistake led to so much backlash, a lot of which was misogynistic, against Natalie when she played a winning game
So what if Russell was the mastermind, Natalie knew she could lay back while he was making himself look back and eventually hated by the jury! People need to put some respect on her name cause she didn't have to dirty her hands and that's what got her to win
I’m completely serious when I say Natalie is the most adaptable player in survivor history. She is confronted with a problem, something that gets in her way, and she handles it. I mean, she got stuck with a near impossible situation that most people would crumble when faced with, and she HANDLED IT! If she had been aggressive and strategic she would’ve been voted off over Jaison. If she had flipped on Russel she would’ve been next to go. She got handed the perfect person to get her to the end, and she managed to pull of a sneaky social game with small moments of manipulation, and she took that damn win. She pulled off something most survivor players would fail to do
I love Samoa and it’s a very interesting game post merge And I love Natalie bc she is under the radar but yet she has great social skills and play’s Russell
I understand why Russell lost but that was a very anticlimactic ending to that season imo. If we get a new era season that plays out like this, it would be fun. 😜 I am kidding. I would be disappointed.
Throughout the rest of the game, Natalie needed to adhere religiously to the second Rule for Radicals: *never go outside the expertise of your people.* Only on Night 39 was she able to adhere to the third Rule: *whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.* In other words, on the final night, her weak suits would cease to be relevant and her strongest suit would come into play. It's harder than it looks; Redemption Island showed it.
Erik's monologue at the beginning here was incredible imo. it made the season for me. It is very possible he was just petty, and was trying to get all the votes off Russell, but ultimately it doesn't matter. His speech was accurate. I do agree that Russell had a great strategic game in Samoa, but at the same time, he has an objectively terrible social game. Playing to the jury is arguably the most important part of getting the title of Sole Survivor. Some juries appreciate a a good social game, others may not care about how villainous a winner might have played. (Disclaimer: Natalie W is not my favorite winner, and she is not near the top of my list of great winners. That is not the point of this comment) Too many people think Russell is the more deserving winner of this season. The fact is, it is the jury's choice and not ours as the audience. Their vote is objectively right. It doesn't matter if they are petty, emotional, bias...it is up to the final 2 or 3 to play around those variables no matter how they got to FTC. The same goes for Amber, Bob, Sophie, Michelle, Chris U, a few of the new era winners, and any others I might have forgotten.
Shambo winning would’ve been peak. Nathalie winning perfectly sums up America where “hot” blonde women team up with evil “straight” men that do all of their work for them. Beautiful season full of despicable characters. Shambo is the only person on this season I’d like to be close friends with. Also, Fat Russell has such a great ass.
After watching the video, I'm extremely underwhelmed by Natalie's gameplay. If a person like Spencer or Rob Cesterino who actually cared about the game were in it, she would have lost. It's tough to decide because I don't believe Russel deserves it either due to his number of unforced errors.
Never actually watched the show. Everything I know about it is from TH-cam videos. From this video, I see some people were furious that Natalie wins. She literally says she'll do anything Russell does and continually uses "the group for her votes. I don't like Russell but these clips make Natalie look like a mindless sycophant.
oh yeah? What did she do besides coatriding? Russell literally carried them from a 4 to 8 disadvantage. Without him that woman wouldn't won s*** and you know that's true.@@AllRequired
@@oritrabelsi4030 russel did nothing to affect the vote at 8 galu vs 4 foa foa. It was natalie who managed to convince everyone to vote Erik. She even told russel that Erik was going home and he didn't believe her, so he wasted an idol.
natalie is proof you dont have to do anything to win. russel did all the work and played the best game. only winning because they were votes against russel not vote for her.
That's literally something Natalie *did*. That's a concrete action she took. She saw that Russell was a raging idiot who couldn't possibly win the game, so she used him as a shield. It was an incredibly smart move.
russell was a idiot and didnt and most likely will never get or understand the main point of the game, which is convinicing the jury who you had a hand in voting out, to give you 1 million dollars, which they wont do for a jerk like russell.
The Prayer Warrior stuff was corny. No way she deserved to win. Russell was just so cocky at Final Tribal that no one wanted to give him prize. She won by default. Sweet person, but she will never be respected as a Survivor winner.
I don’t think the game always have to be flashy to deserve to win. Sometimes being smart and making small moves deserves to win.She took out and was smart enough to make Russell think she was a goat. She also made friends with the jury in connected with everyone while understanding that Russell had power. Sure Russells and power but she was the vice president the entire time and the vice president was just more liked. Pure genius strategy.

So what if Russell was the mastermind, Natalie knew she could lay back while he was making himself look back and eventually hated by the jury! People need to put some respect on her name cause she didn't have to dirty her hands and that's what got her to win
Awesome vid again man keep it up
Appreciate it!
She pulled off something most survivor players would fail to do
I love Samoa and it’s a very interesting game post merge
And I love Natalie bc she is under the radar but yet she has great social skills and play’s Russell
SURVIVOR IS A SOCIAL GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ATTENTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This video is probably longer than her ‘active’ screen time on that season.
I wanted to see Natalie White on Winners at War
You should do a video on Kelly wentworth second chance.

This drunk on power tirade Russel goes on is so messed up
I understand why Russell lost but that was a very anticlimactic ending to that season imo. If we get a new era season that plays out like this, it would be fun. 😜 I am kidding. I would be disappointed.
Russell lacked the "people skills."
That is not the point of this comment)
Too many people think Russell is the more deserving winner of this season.
Finalist = Petitioner
Juror = Respondent
Point: work the minimum required quantity of respondents to pick _your_ petition over the other petitioners.
I like the whole idea of this, as it’s be just would like if Samoa had a balance, edit.
Why Do They Call Brett CGI BRETT????
Its a joke because Brett is purpled in the edit, thats why hes called "CGI Brett"
What does CGI Brett mean?
Google it
@@OnceUponAnIsland weird is right!
I absolutely hate how every single Samoa-Contestant Sounds and Speaks, I don't know why.
Dave made a BIG MISTAKE
where is samoa ponderosa??????????
The DVD's.
After watching the video, I'm extremely underwhelmed by Natalie's gameplay. If a person like Spencer or Rob Cesterino who actually cared about the game were in it, she would have lost.
It's tough to decide because I don't believe Russel deserves it either due to his number of unforced errors.
Natalie made friends and Russell didn't. It is that simple.
@@OnceUponAnIsland Which is why I think she's an undeserving winner, and Russel is an undeserving winner due to how badly he played.
Ashley and russel both played horrible games
Never actually watched the show. Everything I know about it is from TH-cam videos. From this video, I see some people were furious that Natalie wins. She literally says she'll do anything Russell does and continually uses "the group for her votes. I don't like Russell but these clips make Natalie look like a mindless sycophant.
Her winning is among the worst moments in the history of television.
Not to those that understand Survivor.
oh yeah? What did she do besides coatriding? Russell literally carried them from a 4 to 8 disadvantage. Without him that woman wouldn't won s*** and you know that's true.@@AllRequired
What did Natalie do? I laid it out pretty well in detail here.
@@oritrabelsi4030 russel did nothing to affect the vote at 8 galu vs 4 foa foa. It was natalie who managed to convince everyone to vote Erik. She even told russel that Erik was going home and he didn't believe her, so he wasted an idol.
@@OnceUponAnIsland ye nothing
natalie is proof you dont have to do anything to win. russel did all the work and played the best game. only winning because they were votes against russel not vote for her.
By you. She'll never be respected by you.
“Russell was just cocky at final tribal.” Bruh his ass was cocky the whole game lol. He don’t know what humility is
I respect her a lot more than Russell.
not me stay mad she's a winner baby HAHAHAHAHAH 🤪
Top 3 worst winners of all time.
Awe poor little baby. Go cry a river
She should not have won Samoa, Russell played the better game.
I caught a rat lives rent free in my head.
