So, there is mention to the differing stories of how Odin lost his eye.
For those who may not know:
In this game, Odin claims that he lost his eye after sticking his face into the Tear of Knowledge outright.
In the previous game, Mimir tells the story of how he became Odin's advisor, which involved his sticking a large amount of Shrooms into a well as a "job application." One sip of the spiked water lead Odin to space out so hard that he proceeded to gouge his eyes out. Fortunately, Mimir stopped him halfway through the task, made up some story of "losing a bit of sight to gain a higher level of vision," blahdedy-blah, blah, he gets the job

Its funny cause something about this line could easily be that they forgot they wrote that in the first game and had to cover the fact they botched it. Sort of like how in Chains of Olympus Kratos' mother tells him his father is Zeus in a whisper and Kratos is shocked only to then do the revelation again at the end of God of War 2 with Athena despite Kratos would already know Zeus is his father since the events of Chains happens before GOW2. Cory Balrog even admitted to the inconsistency and said he didn't care, so take of that what ya will.

@@ToonGrin I thought about that too, but I couldve sworn his mother never actually said it was Zeus, but it was a god that was his father. In other words, zeus made it so even if she mentioned his father being a god, not which one specifically, that the curse put on her would prevent the true identity being revealed. Maybe I'm wrong but that's the only way I could justify it.

It honestly makes sense that Odin would lie about how he lost his eye. He tells Atreus that looking into the reality crack cost him his eye, which is contrary to Mimir's story. So, why lie? Well, Odin wants to look into that crack for answers more than anything. But, he also knows Atreus wants answers too. Odin tries to guide Atreus towards the same goal so Atreus will look for the protective mask pieces for when he wants to use it. By conflating their personal objectives and seemingly upping the stakes, he's likely to get more commitment and better utilization out of Atreus.

Do you remember when David Jaffe had plans for Kratos to become one of the Three Wisemen? He said there were plans where Kratos alongside other gods of war to destroy other pantheons which will in turn give rise to Christianity. And I wonder if the gods who reached the Higher Plains of Existence were turned into something like archangels that serve God. I wanna believe the God of War story is still far from over if they're still going through with that plan. Cuz I had this idea where Atreus also reached the Higher Plains of Existence and adopts the name Lucifer or Satan and rebelled against God since a lot of scholars believe that Satan was inspired by Loki.
