Thanks, man! I will keep it coming hehehe. I love the sequencer of the MV and I wanted to show that you can use this beauty also for other styles of music.
Haydn R Thank you! It’s really an amazing machine. Just received my ‘new’ VS2400CD and they look sooooo cool together. When the cabling is done, I will upload new videos. I’m adding the BCR-2000 in between to have control over all available CCs and to have the MV record those CCs. Maaaan....only what I really is miss is TIME!!! 😁😅
Awsome i asked you a few months ago about the mv8800 which is my main gear .and here you are working and sounding great did you just get it or did u always have a mv8000?? Please make more videos with this gear it would be appreciated very mucho .thanks
Louis Albandos Hi! I just bought this and have it now a couple of weeks. Based on comments and videos from other TH-camrs I started to search for one. I’m impressed by the workflow of this machine. It so logical to me. I see all my other pieces of gear in this MV. Really happy with adding it to my setup. Grtzzz, Roger
btw is there any reason to get a VS2000? I saw one for sale for about 270 dollars, but not sure why I would need it, maybe to connect my synths as an extra mixer or use it as an effects machine for samples?
Hahaha! Thanks! Apparently I always choose underrated machines. It started this year with the SP-808 and now the MV-8000. And yes....It's bizar how much they have under their hood.
are you able to loop record the external gear back into the MV so you can save it with the audio. that would be perfect for me I love getting things to audio as soon as possible. love your videos1
Thanks for asking! Check out this video. I think it answers your question regarding recording external gear. I used RBUS but it can be done with analog-in too, as long as you set the MV on resample mode to combine internal and external sounds. th-cam.com/video/PPTB1-lJuAc/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for content. Thinking about buying one of these in next couple of days and I'm tossing up whether it will be different enough from my MC-80 sequencer to make it worthwhile. This video helped me see some relevant differences, as well as a possible way to setup. So appreciate it! Nice loop too :-)
Hi! Thank you so much for your comment. It has already been two years that I shot this vid so it's also nice for me to re-see it :D The MV is in a lot of ways better than the MC-80 because it's more than just a sequencer. Yes, like you've mentioned: It's different enough. It adds sampling, effects, vocoder, synthesizer, hard drive (CF = possible) and of course monitor and mouse. Good luck on your decision. Grtzzz, Roger
SAYITAGAINNEWS hi! You determine a midi channel of your external hardware on the hardware itself. Then you select that midi channel on the mv. Now you can record notes. In the event list you will see all the recorded info like notes, velocity, duration etc. Good luck!
@@theMIDImaniac how can i get the midi recorded from synth to stay there without having to sample as audio track? When I create midi track 2 and change the sound on the keyboard, it also changed the midi track 1 sound which is what I dont want. I wish to keep as midi track in case in need to re edit. Any responses would be greatly appriceated.
SAYITAGAINNEWS hi! Is the synth multi timbral? Which means: can it produce multiple sounds on more midi channels? If yes, you have to set for every sound a midi channel.
so when you recorded your keyboard part the first take was late and you just restarted your recording.... is it not possible to keep the take and just move it on the timeline wherever you want and not need to do the recording over? can you change the timing of notes on a piano roll i.e. visually or do you have to enter a text based note editor?
Yeah...you can use the piano roll function to select the notes and move them to another area of the song. I use the piano roll for fine tuning and re-recording for bigger parts.
Hi! Wow...that RS7000 is a beast. Great machine! Well, about the MV-8000 I do can say that it has a lot of SP-808 features. That's the reason why I bought it because I'm a huge fan of the SP.
+Roger The MIDI MANIAC got the rs7000 cheap a couple of months ago, sold my rm1x for double, very happy. It's the 'dogs bollocks' (you might have to google that phrase).
I'm a bit of a noob really so please help me out - isnt this just a daw with a dated UI? Sequencing and automation is all I use my daw for, the rest is external hardware. Having said that I just dont like using a mouse, and I like turning knobs. I want to be convinced why using something like the MV8000 is better than using a daw .. maybe I missed things. Great videos and taste !
digiface hahaha I will help you out. Ok, why using a machine like the MV while a DAW could do the same or even more. 1. I love working with hardware. I sit all day behind computers for my work. My hobby needs to be without them. 2. I’m old school educated. I love how these clunky machines work and I’m willing to spend time in figuring things out. I’m not from the swipe-generation. 3. I know computers can do things faster/better/nicer but I’m okay with the boundaries of the machines. 4. This gear can only be used for its purpose. A computer can do so much more than just making music. That’s nice but also a risk for stability. The gear does what it does and that’s it. I hope this answers your question. Grtzzz, Roger
The MIDI Maniac ha .. interesting .. I think you did help me out . Thanks. What stability do you mean though? I got my vp9000 today.. I love it . Even the effects sound way better than the never ending array of crap that comes with daws.
digiface enjoy your VP! It’s a great machine. What I meant about stability is that with hardware I’m not afraid that I will get a overload error or a software bug or an update for the operating system with the effect that drivers are not working. Nope, it’s just what the gear does and nothing more. In my opinion it’s very convenient to have it that way.
DjPhantomRage Hahaha! I totally appreciate your comments! Subscribe to stay tuned. I bought this mv-8000 last August and man...what a great machine. I grab vids about my journey of discovery this unit. Grtzzz, Roger
Let me check this: Recording wise it’s just one track per recording. Regarding playing it can sequence 128 tracks at once. I use mostly external synth with my MV to play them all together at once. Is this what you meant?
xisotopex 🤣🤣🤣 I tell you...I have all manuals on my iPad and I read them whenever I can. The last year I’ve learned a lot about my machines due to those manuals.
xisotopex composing is straightforward. Select a track, select a Midi channel and hit record. Afterwards some quantising. Most important thing is to have the routing of all incoming midi channels set right.
Keep it coming!
Thanks, man! I will keep it coming hehehe.

This is nice, love the ending...if you still have it you should make it into a bit more progressive, global underground vibes ;)
I "replaced" my MV with an Octatrack but I miss a lot about the MV's "groove". Might have to dust it off and use both!
