Thanks for the video.I have a gig at 7th and I will upgrade later. I use free Gods Cab IR for almost all amps. In my experience it's more useful in my band situation. Greetings from Çanakkale Turkey.
Mind the button lock feature … press the right footswitch for half a second and the encoders will work. Update worked for me on a WIN10-PC and do not forget the factory reset (hold right footswitch and power up) after the firmware update to make sure everything works properly.
Excellent. I did the update today and my pedal started throwing a lot of errors, the sound cracked and the pc app doesn't work at well, do you have any idea what it could be?
When you do a firmware update it resets all the presets back to factory so if you saved them on your computer you'll need to reload them into the pedal or alternatively you'll need to reprogram your tones. It's good practice to do a factory reset of the pedal with each update. Google search amp academy factory reset and there's a yt vid walking you through the process. For the app not working, with each firmware update for the pedal there is also a software update for the PC app. You need to install the latest PC app version with the latest pedal firmware and it should be good to go. With the new pedal update there is knob lock, so the knobs won't do anything until you hold one of the pedals down. You can tell it's in lock mode because one of the LEDs are flashing. This can be turned off in the app. Also, you'll probably need to turn down the di output again after the update.
I was considering this last year and ultimately decided against buying it because it had no Vox amps and I play with mostly AC15 and AC30 amps to get my sound. I started considering it again for my new pedalboard and thought maybe I would just get used to playing with fender amps, but now that they added the AC30 I am gonna pull the trigger! This video came just in time
The ac30 in the update sounds great. I've only had time to play with it using the stock ir and by all accounts the stock chop tone ones aren't fabulous so I'll probably throw some third party ir's at it and see how it goes. The dr z that was currently on it got closeish but the new ac30 model smokes it!
I fortunately haven't run into any issues saving. I'm using the desktop editor on PC though if that means anything. And for the new amps I'm impressed with all of them other than the jcm2000 clone. I will have to change the ir on that amp and see if it helps it at all.
@@andrew_walker_music it was user error, haha. The pedal shipped with the Ch A toggle on Modern and Ch B on Iridium so that’s what it was defaulting to and I was too new to think to check it. New update today for the control lock!
Hahaha awesome! Yeah I saw that the update dropped. For me and the way I use the AA the tone lock didn't bother me as I use it as a desktop unit permanently plumbed into my interface and USB for the editor software. One big improvement over previous versions is how they've implemented up and down buttons in the editor to scroll through impulse responses instead of having to open drop down menus. So good.
Just taken delivery of an NGS6. Manual implies it is just plugged in and links to PC, DAW and Editor app. It doesn't ! None of those recognised the unit. Tried updating drivers but that didn't help. Took me half a day any several emails to the supplier and NUX before finding out that I had to ignore the message on the software updater that says the NGS6 could not be detected before updating the firmware. Why do I have to do that anyway? Surely the supplier - Artist -and/or NUX should ship a turnkey product. It's not for Customers to make things work! After updating and trying many combinations within the editor found that NO combination was to my liking. The only good thing about the NGS6 is that it is a nice clear i/f into my Reaper DAW. Otherwise I don't like it at all!
I'm with you there. The update process and having the unit wipe itself after each update is annoying, as is the output levels. I've only used it via xlr into my interface so i can't comment on it's use as an interface, but NUX can and should learn a few things about user experience and hopefully implement them in their next iteration of amp sims. In saying that I do enjoy the pedal for what I need it for, an amp sim permanently plugged into my interface, fender twin sound similar to the backline amps i use live, and plug my board in to the input used purely for late night rehearsals at home with headphones.
Yes, I think it's to indicate the knob lock is engaged. I'd prefer it to be the other way around where when the knobs are active the led is blinking then.
Does anybody know if you can use the amp academy as a direct recording interface with ipad/iPhone?(With the camera connection kit). I know you can connect and use the editor but does anyone know if you can record with it in garageband for example?
THe new firmware is a massive FAIL. they broke the ability to store scenes 2 or 3 with the A/B footswitch, they broke the ability to restore from backup (even though they advise to back up before updating!) bugs that have been there for a year still aren't fixed.
i've had mine for at least 12 months, played every day and on stage 3 sets a week. while it isn't perfect i'm lucky that i havent had any hardware issues with it
man i encountered so many "errors" after updating the firmware and luckily i found your video
thankyou sm for the information you gave
Glad I could help

All really good tips right there!
thanx for the video man. I`ve upgraded mine but I`m too lazy to plug it in to test 😂
No problem 👍

@@andrew_walker_music I use a 3rd party IR on the MG30 that we use at my church, so I will be throwing that in there for sure!
The Mr. Z sim is also a hit when I used Free IR. My partscaster with 10-15 dollar guitarfetish pickups sound better than most Fenders.
The two amps it will currently save sound really good. I'd just like to be able to save the rest.

@@andrew_walker_music I’m a brand new user and it could totally be my error. I’ll have to play with it again tonight.
Nice one! From what I've read Nux are dropping an update soon to solve the blinking led thing, and also hopefully they fixed the save issues as well.

The lone star preset , what is the backing track that you used man ?
it was one from pickup music, an online learning platform

Check the website, the saving issue had been fixed.
