Here’s my coolest memory. I would always fish with my papa and my great uncle buck. If we ever went a couple cast without a catch, Uncle Buck would spit on his beetle spin. It always worked. Well one time it didn’t and papa says, “You don’t know how to do it”. He’s pours a little Natural Light on his beetle spin and catches a fish the moment it hit the water. I’ll never forget papa slapping his knee and laughing when he caught that fish.
When I was kid, I remember my Grandma and my father sitting on a creek edge in NY... we sat there and caught slab Crappie for about an hour... it was probably my best fishing experience as a child. At that time, we were fishing for a family Fish Fry... we had so much fun!
I would like to tell you thank you for advertising the knives from dancopliers.com I bought my husband the 9” series flex knife and also got it engraved. He loved his birthday gift.. so thank you.
Filling a bucket full of White Perch with dad then cleaning them and frying them with french fries. The love for fishing was born. I'd fish 24/7 if I didn't have to ever work or sleep. Thanks for the awesome amazing videos.
Shellcracker memory.....Summer 1969....4th of July weekend fishing at Lake Panasoffkee Florida. Ate fried shellcrackers and huspuppies every evening...A great memory even though I was in bootcamp 6 weeks later and missed the Woodstock festival. (Same weekend). I'm 72 now and I'm going to buy some beetle spins.. ..that what worked back in Panasoffkee!! The smaller fish in life can be the most memorable. Cheers, Sawgrass
In Minnesota my grandmother loved to fish. Her favorite was Sunny's we spent hours fishing along side the lakes fishing! We had better fish but no hers was Sunny's. She also taught us how to play spoons, do the Charleston and loved to unravel firecrackers light with a candle and just toss them you had to watch her every second! We were from Indiana and fished all the time in the Lakes. Now she's gone but what a life we lived and we passed it down my kids were raised with family and fun and are passing all the stories down while making great memories to give their children. You pass down your love of life to each generation to come your children have your legacy to inspire them too. It's not going to be like this forever but be safe and Happy Easter. Hearts are for all our brave healthcare workers fighting to save lives and keep our families feed and safe❤💚💙💜🕊✝️💞
Quick memory of fishing shell cracker. My uncle passed away unexpectedly at age 31, but he loved to hunt and fish. He called me one afternoon to go fishing. Wanna go? Meet me at the barn. I was in middle school and had a babysitter at the time. I invited her to go. She was like I’m supposed to be watching you. I told her to get on the airboat with us and fish or stay home. Lol! She stayed home and I spent the afternoon fishing with my uncle. Loved him a lot. I don’t remember how many we caught but I have the memory. Great videos. Stay safe, Jen Mock
I love to use beetle spins. Grew up fishing all around southeast. Most fish are yummy. Glad to see y'all smiling. In our thoughts and prayers. God Bless y'all and the fur babies. Thanks for another awesome video BlueGabe 👍👍
My best memory with Panfish is catching them in a pond way behind our farm and cleaning them up for an old fellow that was way past his fishing days that lived beside us. His smile will never leave my memories!
Took a vacation with my great grandparents visiting my Dad's cousin in Green Cove Springs Florida. Spent one day fishing on the st. Johns River. Eight of us caught a number 2 Wash Tub full of bluegills with a few shell crackers and redfish mixed in. That was about 65 years ago.
My most memorable panfish was when i was stationed Whiteman AFB. I was crappie fishing with a white cork and a bobber about 3ft up, i saw the swerl and casted beyond it. It was awesome, a 2lbs bluegill went airborn and came down on it! Love your show and wish i could live your live! Stay safe, Myron
My grandparents always took us to the “fishing hole” on the creek of their farm. There was a rock we could swim to and fish off of. We’d tear them up. When we needed bait we’d cast to the bank and grandma would rebait with a fresh grasshopper. Fun times. I miss my grandparents dearly!
Awesome idea with the taste test! My Uncle was the one who got me into fishing when I was younger, and one of the first times we ever went fishing we caught about 50 blue gills off the dock and that was one of the best days of fishing I have ever had. Didn't keep a single one, but the best memories I have ever made on the water were made that day. I remember my hands were raw the next week from the spines digging into them. Best feeling ever!
An ultra lite with 4lb or 6lb line and a beetle spin...doesn’t get any better. The old beetle spin can catch em all. There’s not a freshwater fish out there that won’t hit it. Brings back good ol childhood memories! Thanks. Y’all stay safe and God Bless
One of the best fish along with specks I have ever eaten. I live in Texas now but wish I was back in home in Marion county. Like your videos, keep up the good work. 👍
Up in Georgia, we caught 30 bass, and close to 50 brim and had a big fish fry with my family, and another great video, can’t wait to see more, have a great Easter and God bless!!!
my favorite memory perch fishing was with my uncle and grandpa at a local dock catching big sun perch and bluegill(longear sunfish for yall that dont live in OK) hardly catch them anymore big ones anyway. love the channel
Best trip was on the TN river by Wheeler Dam around islands and my uncles and papaw taught me how to fly fish with Willow Flies In season. We caught over 350 fish for fish fry at church. Best trip ever, I was 6, 50 years ago
Gabe I'm an avid fisherman I fish fresh and saltwater. But I've never had bass and I've never had a pan fish. I've had musky Pike walleye but never any of those. Can't wait to head to Lake Okeechobee and give it a try. Thanks for the video.👏👏👏
Fav trip...1967..canyon lake tx., shortly after it's impoundment. Tied up to the limb of a huge live oak (whole bunch of flooded oaks) Drop a worm, catch a bluegill...but only if you dropped the worm in about a 5 sq. ft. area right next to the boat and tree. 3 of us....probably 200 nice gills....kept about 60.
Reminds me of fishing some old abandoned rock quarry's and catching big blue gills and big bass and I would have a a stringer of blue gills on my back riding my bike back home.☺️
Here in Michigan these would be the equivalent of our Bluegills. Simply delicious and Bon Appetite! Yes, make sure you don't overcook them and dry them out too much and remember to add a squeeze of fresh lemon. Thank you for catching, cleaning, and cooking.. Don't forget the tarter sauce while enjoying a fine dinner friendly beer like Bell's White Dragon Stout that is mellow, sweet, and delightful.
My PawPaw and Memaw moved from Ft Walton Beach FL up to the NW end of Walton County FL around 1978, when he became the Postmaster of DeFuniak Springs. He bought 250 acres with a creek and a natural spring. He built a beautiful pond that we still own. When I was 8 years old, he and I sat down with cane poles and crickets and yanked gills and crackers outta that water until my little arms were shaky! He taught me how to clean them, how to cook them, and how to properly freeze the rest to cook later. Might sound like I’m being a bit dramatic, but that man shaped me into the man I am, the fisherman I am, and the lover of nature I am today. He’s been gone for 21 years now, and I’m 48 years old, but when I visit home and sit on the dock down there, I look across the pond at the spot we sat throwing fish in a shallow washtub and I thank God for my grandparents and all of the things things they taught me and my 2 younger brothers. I have a 7 year old daughter that loves to fish. We live on a private pond in Auburn AL. Her eyes light up every time she hauls in a big shell cracker and I remember my childhood. I know you said leave a short comment about catching shell crackers but I couldn’t help but tell you this. It’s why I love watching you and Robert with your kids. Thanks a bunch. Tony Lawson
My mom, dad, 3 nieces, sister, and I went pan fishing for whatever bit (mostly bluegill) and caught tons. My mom caught the higgest one. That sucker looked like a hubcap lol. We fried them up and they were delicious. That was the only time my whole family ever fished together. Definitely a memory I will never forget 😊👍
My grandfather would check me out of school and take me on the lake and we would catch stringers full of white perch . Some of the best memories fishing
I grew up using and still use to this day, a marabou crappy jig. I live in upstate NY and have been fishing lake ontario all my life. great video as always!!! Btw...my rig is an ultralite uglystik rod and a pfleugar president reel and I love them...they work amazing.
Favourite pan fry fish memory. My son at I alone at the lake when he was 4 caught his first fat Ontario perch. Catch clean and cook. Enough said. Great vid Gabe! Keep it up man! 👊👍🔥
Went crappie fishing in Blue Pond @ Camp Blanding with the wind blowing about 25 and it was 50 degrees outside. Found them stacked in one spot at 17 ft of water. Every time we went over, all 6 rods went down for about an hour and a half. Ended with exactly 50 slabs and one bass. Epic day!
Beetle spins and rooster tails are some of my favorite baits for pan fish! Now that I live up north I still use rooster tails "inline spinners" for trout all the time.
My husband and I have used flip-tail beetle-spins for as long as I can remember and they work well for us catching pan-fish. Usually, we use white ones. We also use Berkley power wigglers attached on hooks. The power wigglers have fish powder and scent impregnated plastic. The fish are crazy for them.
When i fished for these on a beetlespin I like to use a chartreuse or catalpa colored. My dad loved to use a bright yellow one also for years. We have a lake at one time he had some hybrid sunfish in it that were called georgia jumbos and were a blast to catch on fly rod. Also it's hard to beat a cricket and bobber.
100 perch at lake george upstate NY. Lectric knife with a beer cap on a stick holding the tail. Boiled the filets and ate w coctail sauce on the ice. Upstate treat.

My Dad and I went up to central Michigan at our family cabin and went fishing and caught about 30 keepers Bluegill and Shellcrackers and some bass!! Though I was only like 10 and my dad didn't trust me yet with the fillet knife just yet. One our best fishing days together!!
Every summer I would spend with my grandpa and granny fishing from Lake Woodruff to Lake George for shellcrackers and our best day we ran out of crickets and I actually hand lined one in with a pinch of cricket and a broken line about 6 foot long just to see if I could, caught the last 3 of the day with the same cricket piece, btw we caught 137 that day between the 3 of us. Loved those summers with them in Astor Fl fishing the St Johns or one of the lakes.
The beetle spin is my preferred lure. I even caught a 22" snook with it. You name it, peacock bass, managuense, mayan, red devils... the list goes on and on
Dad took us kids fishing for bluefish here in NY when we were kids. All we ever caught were bergals, which he threw back. People do eat them now. Fun times!
I grew up eating bluegill's shellcrackers crappie it all taste delicious and eat every chance I get! Now that corn looked legit 👀 great video bluegabe 🤘
It has been years sense I've had blue gill, and shell crackers or I just call them all brim, but I would love to fry up me a big mess of them, they are my favorites, Great job you guys
First bass I remember catching... Small blarck and orange beetlespin. 2.5lbs???? Was 4-6yrs old. 50 now!!!! Remember reeling it in with moss covering. it...the good ol' days!!!
That is a grate video brother. When I was a kid we used to take a coffee can with charcoal in it to the lake with us we light it up and throw the cast iron on top of it. We would eat bream as we caught them. A loaf of bread mayonnaise a little sick of butter. I miss going to Lake Weldona and doing that keep up the good work can't wait for the next adventure. Later brother.
Yes sir! Beetle spins and rooster Tails get em every time. Get er did blue Gabe! Your doing a great job on the vids keep up the good work. Daniel from North AL.
Best memory of fishing for Redear Bream was around this time I was out of school for the week and my mom let me go to one of my Dad's really good friend's house at Alligator Bayou on Caddo Lake on the Texas part of the lake he took me fishing fishing with brown crickets and small Minnows i about 2 foot of water up in the woods. The week pryor he had caught and froze 1000 himself and that would almost be enough to last the year for our family. He was using a fly rod and I had a rod and reel but there was no need for the reel as soon as the bait hit the water the fight was on. I had so much fun that week. We released hundreds of fish that day. I will for sure never forget he caught a bass about 8 pounds and just threw him back saying that they aren't fit to eat when I know they are good but not at good as the bream we were catching. He was a very large man. prolly 6 ft 8 or so and his hands were like notebook paper lol but we only kept the ones that were the size of his hands he fileted them as I watched. I am 46 now and I was probably 10 to 14 years old? Only bad thing is he is no longer with us and hasn't know who he was or anyone else in 10 plus years.
Ahh Yeah , I was Patiently Waiting for these bream vids, And I knew BlueGabe would come through!!! Another Quality Upload with Great fishing tips🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒 Thx Gabe
Man that's what im looking for to stock my freezer up and have some for dinner. Great video buddy sorry about your turkey hunt have had a guy drive a truck in on me see me stop and look at me,and drive away like nothing ever happen.
Looks like you’re also live in the life brother! We just got back from the spillway we got duck in the oven and enjoying the outdoors God bless and stay safe
I left that first comment 4 min into the vid. The very first fishing memory I have, I had just turned 5. We were bream fishing and I got sick as a dog. I was with dad and 2 others. I fell asleep in the bottom of the boat and woke up about an hour later and I was good to go. We caught 25-30 that day. I still have the picture
Here’s my coolest memory. I would always fish with my papa and my great uncle buck. If we ever went a couple cast without a catch, Uncle Buck would spit on his beetle spin. It always worked. A beatle spin is one of my all time favorites
Watching Blue Gabes videos is like watching a long commercial with a bit of fishing or hunting.
One of the best fish along with specks I have ever eaten. I live in Texas now but wish I was back in home in Marion county. Like your videos, keep up the good work. 👍
I think I was 21 before I knew you could catch a speck during the day. Fished with my Dad at night for them back in the 60s, had loads of fun.
Up in Georgia, we caught 30 bass, and close to 50 brim and had a big fish fry with my family, and another great video, can’t wait to see more, have a great Easter and God bless!!!

I used Beetle Spin all the time. Virgil Ward endorsed them in all sizes but the one you are using is one I used for bluegill and smaller bass.
I’ve never had fried corn but I’ve had it popped. Amazing!

You fish a lot, good luck. This place to fish, it seems like a lot here in Brazil to fish.👍😉
Jonboat, Walkers Lake, VA, bedding panfish, cane poles and flies. Clean fifty fish and feed the family and neighbors.
Hard to choose a best panfish story because they will always be fun to catch on UL tackle, no matter how old you get.

Enough love all the way from Belize. And I haven't try the fry corn yet. I will have yo give that a try.
