I have to make a confession. I heard this song first time in The Voice. It left deep impression on me and I had to find the original. First time hearing the original & every single next time hearing it I burst to tears, I'm literally sobbing. It awakens such deep emotion in me. I feel like angels are singing it. Now.. you might find it crazy, but I feel heaven voices sound like this.

Are you serious? I can barely understand what she is singing, one or two words here and there and that's it. That's not a good singer. OK, she has a good tone, nice vibrato but her enunciation utterly sucks. Why write lyrics at all if you are going to mumble sing?

    Who'll take care of me
When I die, will I go
    Hope there's someone
    Who'll set my heart free
Nice to hold, when I'm tired
There's a ghost on the horizon
    When I, go to bed
How can I fall asleep at night
How will I rest my head
Oh I'm scared of the middle place
    Between light and nowhere
I don't want to be the one
Left in there, left in there
There's a man on the horizon
Wish that I'd go to bed
If I fall to his feet tonight
    Will allow, rest my head
So here's hoping I will not drown
    Or paralyze in light
And Godsend I don't want to go
    To the seal's watershed
    Hope there's someone
    Who'll take care of me
When I die, will I go

I first heard this song (and the rest of the album) in summer 2005. I was travelling through Vietnam and had it on my iPod. I played it for the first time as I sat on the deck of a boat slowly cruising through the jade waters of Halong Bay (Google image it if not familiar, it's as breathtaking as Anohni's voice). It was one of the most intense and transcendental experiences of my life.
Anohni's music and vocals are so raw and cinematic - especially hearing them for the first time ever - it almost upstaged the landscape! Which is no mean feat in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
But thankfully I was able to appreciate them both simultaneously. Whenever I play this song/album (about once a year) I'm taken straight back to Vietnam 2005. And once again I'm sat in the sunshine,
on a deck of a boat, without a care in the world. That's the power of great music. This song / Album / Artist will always hold a special place in my heart, and soul, and memories...
