Liam replied " I resent that massively" There was real conviction in his voice and for all his faults Liam always put the music first and the stage was and is his favourite place to be. I genuinely believe he was really struggling to sing in that style but nobody in the Oasis organisation realised or tried to help, too busy riding the gravy train. Once he started to bail during shows, Noel took the opportunity to relish the extra limelight. He literally says as much in the Supersonic documentary. Liam said that he resented being left to twiddle his thumbs for more and more sections of the shows while Noel sang more and more songs. I think that is a much overlooked aspect of why the wheels came off the way they did. Any singer that's been around for a few years knows you have to do things to take care of your voice if you perform night after night and that's without caning it. I've worked with bands all my life and behind all the PR/ Spin you'd be surprised how many cider vinegar/ honey and lemon drinks are siting next to the bottles of JD and the amount of un-rock 'n roll sounding warm up exercises are to be heard emanating from behind dressing room doors. U got it.... when you sing professionally, there are tools of the trade & protocols that MUST be in place in order to pull it off. In all actuality, it is commendable that he was able to go on as long as he did, in the style he did. That is no easy feat, and the man clearly had no technical knowledge about breath support, or proper care for vocal longevity. He was running on PURE ROCK AND ROLL Piss & Vinegar, belting out at max capacity. Imo, what really did him in was the lifestyle. Cigs & Booze are KILLER for a light tenor voice like his. Throw in the chems and very little sleep, and it is only a matter of time until the voice wears out. He needed someone to step in and help him out, a vocal specialist would have probably saved him. I feel like if his big brother would have stepped in and said "alright kid, i see your struggling, lets get you some help", it could have gone a long way. The way it looks to me, is that at that point, the personal problems between those two were just piling up, and instead of trying to help Liam, Noel said "Sod It. He will wear himself out, and then I can have another reason to go and do my own thing". So it came to pass, and we got BEADY EYE, which was massively underrated. It was overshadowed by the specter of Oasis, unduly, and the music wasn't really appreciated. Liam did a number on his instrument, no doubt. Yet, here we are, in 2022, and the man has risen out of it, started looking after himself and had begun to restore his voice. Two massively successful solo albums, and headlining gigs all over Britain and Europe. It goes to show ya, that personal resilience and tenacity will serve you well, if you are able to couple it with a bit of discipline. Liam learned this later in life (like most of us do), and it is working out for him. I am a huge fan of Noel, as well, but it does make me smile to see that Liam is selling more tickets and albums than his big brother, but only because Noel has dug Liam, his voice and overall musical ability, out publicly so many times, and really has tried to downplay the importance of his role in Oasis. Noel got a little big for his boots while Liam was away, saying that it was really only him and his songs that made Oasis, which is absolutely not so. Talent always rises to the top, and that is why Liam is where he is. The man has a naturally brilliant voice and ability to deliver a song, and performance, that people love to see and hear. Watch Slide Away from the iTunes festival. Liam looks super angry at himself that he can't sing it like he used to and looks like he wants to apologize to Noel and Noel looks on the verge of tears there
@@vita1ogy. yes but no, he was angry that he couldn't sing like he used to but apologizing to Noel for not being able to sing?🤣 This IS Liam Gallagher we're talking about here. During that gig he was SO mad at Noel because he knew the end was coming and he knew Noel wanted out and that was gonna end the band it was gonna end Oasis. He's angry with Noel and himself in that gig ( also some wanker in the crowd threw their pint at Liam before he began to sing )
@@vita1ogy. WHAT?!? Na that's a look of RAGE mate. He's mad at Noel, why would he be sorry at a Time where the two hated each other so much that they didn't talk to each other and still don't to this day. That look that Liam gave Noel was a long cold and hard stare. He stared through Noel's soul. Their rivalry and hatred spread onto the rest of the band. Everything became bitter, nothing was special anymore and both of em knew the end was coming. Noel knew he was out. Liam knew it since beginning of 08 that's why he wrote " I'm outta Time" the song is about the breakup of Oasis Even tho it hadn't happened yet. For proof listen to the lyrics in the chorus. " If I'm to fall, would you be there to applaud or would you hide behind them all " this is Liam saying to Noel " hey when the band is over will we still be okay?, Will you abandon me or stay on my side?" . Liam knew the end was coming before Noel had Even thought about it. That Itunes gigs was one of the last Oasis gigs, Liam and Noel hated each other. During Slide Away Noel looks depressed and Liam is furious, we even see Liam visibly when singing that he's pissed. He's mad at Noel for ruining things for the band and for the fans for leaving Oasis despite not having yet done so.
The one they did in cork 1996 is the best Acoustic arrangement they did because it has a cello in it to copy the mellontron parts. Although not acoustic, to me, the best live versions they did were in 1999.
Liam said himself that Glastonbury 2004 was terrible and said wearing in ear monitors spun him out for 15 yrs. To me he wasn't singing as well with them on but there's more to the story as got diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease which makes his voice hoarse at times. His mum has it as well.
This video reminded me that in the 2000s Liam always had all kinds of different outfits that looked cool. I like the parka, but wow does he literally wear it every day now. Just saw a picture of him in the studio recently and he’s still wearing the parka. I think it’s part of his skin now
2006 tour should have never happened, Noel should have said we're going on hiatus and Liam is sorting out his vocal issues, but instead we end up with the brothers getting more distant and Liam's voice deteriorating from an undiagnosed thyroid issue.
That what happened to liams voice? Thought it was all the smoking, partying and belting out tunes aggressively had just taken its toll. Know he was still having some troubles with it on a recent tour
During summer 2009 gigs Liam looks like he knows that his next 7 years will be very painful for him personally and career wise and he can do nothing about it
Great series. So many ups and downs his voice has been through. One of the greatest frontmen of all time. Some of his greatest performances in the Oasis "middle ages" were Live forever 1st night in at Wembley 2000 (second night was awful), DYKWIM in Tokyo 2002 and The C&A + Morning Glory V festival 2006 - where he compensated for the bad voice with sheer power in his output.
Wow, lot of work to put this together for sure.I'm very excited for the rebirth episode. Really impressed how Liam has showed perseverance through this. He could have given up, but he's still out there putting on awesome shows. Hope to see him soon, since he had to pull out of a show in the US I was supposed to see him at 2 years ago now.
In my opinion early 2005 is how Liam actually sounds when he sings "normal", not sneering or over-shouting but he does struggle in some places but overall great. I think the wear and tear is all caused by singing technique that is worsen by his hashimoto's. Singing with all throat with the dryness or horseness will wreak his vocals. Anyway my two cents from a longlife fan.
Part 3 came out faster than I expected This timelines are the best. I'm amazed how he was able to get his voice back to a similar level to what he had in the 90's. Thanks a lot for this great compilation mate Cheers!!
Back when I became an Oasis fan I loved Liam's looks in 2008-09 and especially in spring-summer 2013 right before the BE failure and all those secret child stories
One thing I never see people commenting on, so I never know if I'm the only person who thinks it or not, but it always amazes me how in one video Liam can look so much older than he actually is, and then look like his young '97 self in another - the acoustic wonderwall from '05 for example.
@@fakestradio4741 I think it's the hairstyle choices and glasses too. He always looks very stylish, but to say he's early 30s in some of these is crazy
I been at probably the worst oasis gig ever at Campo de Polo 06, but at that time I didn’t know it. It was my first oasis gig and from the field it sounded amazing, pure rock and roll. Besides, from my emotions of being my 1st concert make me don’t care about how it sounded, however when i saw it on TH-cam later I found out I sounded awful. But at that time I didn’t care. A totally different thing was on River Plate Stadium 09, you can barely hear it singing because the mic was so low, so maybe the 2009 overall was the worst compared to the Polo 06’ , even some people disagree. But after all, Liam in his worst day is better than any of the other bands I seen in my life . Long live to Liam and fakest radio ✌️

Really REALLY enjoyable, and so well done! Thanks so much for this one! So interesting listening to how Liam comes back against all odds. Strong man...strong will...strong voice! I wonder if he's ever had any surgeries for vocal nodes etc. Given what he's put his voice through, I wouldn't be surprised. But we can't expect him to rock as hard as he did when he was in Oasis, nor should we expect him to hit all those high notes. He was a mere 22 when a lot of those songs were written. I honestly wish he'd consider doing all the old Oasis tunes in lower keys, to spare his voice, and to show off the more mature, manly voice that he now has. Just my beef as a fellow aging singer, with Hashimoto's no less! I feel for him, and the expectations placed on him to sound as he once was. His voice now is really beautiful, he's using it in a much wiser and more intelligent way, and the musicians are working with him in a much more respectful manner...allowing his vocals to be front and centre, and not asking him to scream over wailing guitars. A new age of Liam is dawning, and it's a beautiful thing! Thanks again for this lovely compilation, so excellent! xo
Been waiting for you to comment and I completely agree with everything you said. I’m planning on making a video on the things we know he’s done to recover his voice at some point so that might interest you a lot!
I saw oasis live during the dont believe the truth tour in 2005 and obviously had no inkling about his vocal chords then, even less so when he was doing a great cover of my generation. Glad to think hes back to his best nowadays in a more mature vocal range.
Wendy Weiler Music ... glad to read tha comment You wrote, about Liam needing to care for tha voice and about tha band maybe playing in a lower key .... told friends 15 years ago that Oasis needed to play a few of tha songs from tha first three albums in a lower key so that Liam didn't need to strain and would be able to sing with a full voice .... singer empathy here too .. @@danielalexandermclachlanga3781 good call, Daniel! Some of us get it: that the vocal chords age along with the rest of us, and we really ought not to hold people to keeping up their youthful standards. Something is lost...but something is found...with the aging voice. Liam has found more than he's lost, and it's a beautiful thing! Peace & love from Toronto! Xo

@@eddysandland58 I agree. I know the Oasis fans has a soft spot for Be Here Now as it has rock songs. I personally love D'You Know What I Mean? and Stand By Me but its a very mediocre album with over produced song. Songs that I like All Around the World is long, and Don't Go Away is great but I believe Noel should have sang that song. Don't Believe the Truth is so much better than the fans give it credit for.
23:04 he gets his voice back just to sing "about you now". Pretty sure something similar happens during Live Forever at Campo de Polo 06, he sings a single line in his actual voice.
yeah you’re thinking about that bit from live forever in campo, its kinda like late stages of dimentia where people get moments of clarity, very strange and very heartbreaking

Not sure about Glasto 2004, he doesn't sound horrendous for most of the set but you can tell why its not considered one of their goodens, even though it does stand out better than what we also call Oasis' worst gigs
My mate Debbie was working in Afflecks and I was in there having a brew on a Saturday afternoon. She asked me to play guitar in her band, 1993, so went down to rehearse at the Boardwalk. Went for a pint while the band they were sharing with finished up, she said they always went over. So we jibbed over there to try and get rid of 'em but they were still finishing up their set. I heard three songs, 'Cigarettes and Alcohol', 'Supersonic' and 'I am the Walrus'. Loud as fuck. Then a big row kicked off about a pack of cigs or something. Can remember it like it was yesterday!
Great work! The part of the 2005-2006 era is shocking. We all agree that he is one of the last pure stars, but he should be more careful or at least take some lessons of how to keep his voice in good state. Someone should have explained what his talent is and how to exploit it. Nevertheless, we all admire the "signing at the edge". Moreover, Hashimoto and hypothyroidism have definitely an impact on the voice (of not only singers, but generally). In any case, let's see what is hidden in the last rebirth part.
Cheers for watching it all through 👍 Agreed with the angry thing as well. Listen to morning glory from iTunes 2009 if you want another screamer haha. There’s no footage and the audio isn’t the best quality but it’s very interesting to listen to
@@fakestradio4741 Yeah I’m defo gonna listen to it. Sometimes I feel like the most chaotic versions of Liam's voice in this video at the Oasis era, the mic was so low, It makes him shout even more louder, sounds like he's struggling to reach all notes every single moment, but with you think that's not his fault, when you put this kind of pressure in your vocal chords it doesn't work for a whole gig, maybe during four or five songs after that the voice automatically will gone

My god there’s occasions in 2005 & 06 when he sounds truly abysmal. 2009 was shocking too, probably for the best the band ended then even if his voice wasn’t the reason for the break-up.
I like Liam's Beady Eye era singing, especially on the first album Different Gear, Still Speeding. I really think that he needs to rest it periodically to keep it in peak form.
I saw Beady Eye after the first album and in San Francisco and he chunked "for no one" ... The next night stars were out in Los Angeles..he kinda chuckled let's see how this goes and nailed it. His voice has always been here and there.

Luckily for me I like both of their solo stuff haha. I’ve heard Liam say that he’s not a songwriter he’s just a singer at heart, and that he just writes songs when they come to him. Can’t knock him for that

I don't wanna sound mean, but Liam's voice quality seemed to be related with his hairstyle at the time, just look at his hair in 2006 lol! But in all seriousness, it's honestly painful to hear how bad his voice got before it go any better. His version of Stand By Me on MTV Unplugged is what got me into Oasis, hope to see some highlights from that concert! Looking forward for the 4th part.
If I remember correctly that 2004 Glastonbury gig was one of Zac Starkey’s first with oasis. That may be why the tempo seems a bit off. Good thing after a little time he became their best drummer
2004 is indeed very interesting. Though I think the quality recording of the Pool Lighthouse gig not being that good makes it look like his voice is better. But as far as the Glastonbury gig I agree one bad performance of one particular song have the whole performance a bad rap and it's unfair.
Ohh I totally forgot about that the last episode is still coming. Still love both of them. I wish that they would make peace with eachother. It was a good video. Thank you for uploading!
Oasis’s management are to blame they knew Liam had the condition and the effect it has on his voice giving him a rest period between gigs would of meant this was avoided. Liam is properly managed this days hence his comeback.

I bet Gem Archer was cringing when he butchered his song a bell will ring or was that andy bell? Either way it was bad
dude, seeing noel sad like that in the 2009 gigs, like on the verge of crying.. that hurts
Watch Slide Away from the iTunes festival. Liam looks super angry at himself that he can't sing it like he used to and looks like he wants to apologize to Noel and Noel looks on the verge of tears there
It’s awful isn’t it 😭
@@vita1ogy. yes but no, he was angry that he couldn't sing like he used to but apologizing to Noel for not being able to sing?🤣 This IS Liam Gallagher we're talking about here.

38:33 hits so hard, right in the gut, and even right on that "now is not the time to cry" verse
It is an absolute travesty they never did wonderwall acoustic with liam on vocals in 1995. Would have been monstrous
I know. One of the worlds biggest mysteries
They did in 1996, but imo it didn't quite work because of the tempo
@@markstrekalov8156 some people say they never got it right live but at knebworth it’s great!

13:40 one of the best renditions of the song since TOTP 2002. Its a shame that they didn't perform it live more often in the later years.

1:20 I actually loved the touch that Noel gave to Songbird during the Dig Out Your Soul tour in 2008-09.
This video reminded me that in the 2000s Liam always had all kinds of different outfits that looked cool. I like the parka, but wow does he literally wear it every day now. Just saw a picture of him in the studio recently and he’s still wearing the parka. I think it’s part of his skin now
He embraced the meme
@@fakestradio4741 I think he wears it because of his psoriasis, he's trying to block exposure to the sun as he performs at a lot of outdoor festivals.
2006 tour should have never happened, Noel should have said we're going on hiatus and Liam is sorting out his vocal issues, but instead we end up with the brothers getting more distant and Liam's voice deteriorating from an undiagnosed thyroid issue.
YEP
That what happened to liams voice? Thought it was all the smoking, partying and belting out tunes aggressively had just taken its toll.

Hope I get to see him as well
The transition into 2005 at Manchester ..... Goosebumps
Absolutely mindblowing job mate
Thank you so much!

The acoustic version of "Start Anew" in 2013 is one of my favourite Liam performances, I wish he'd do more of that kinda thing.
Yeah it’s amazing isn’t it
@@fakestradio4741 100%. His voice on the Acoustic Sessions version of "Meadow" is similar and it's *so* good.
Certain angles and how much he weighs I think. It is very weird tho haha
@@fakestradio4741 I think it's the hairstyle choices and glasses too. He always looks very stylish, but to say he's early 30s in some of these is crazy

And Noel is the exact opposite. He’s been aging very gracefully since oasis broke up
I been at probably the worst oasis gig ever at Campo de Polo 06, but at that time I didn’t know it.
I’d say you were still very lucky to see it haha. Thanks man 👍

Thanks again for this lovely compilation, so excellent! xo

@@danielalexandermclachlanga3781 good call, Daniel! Some of us get it: that the vocal chords age along with the rest of us, and we really ought not to hold people to keeping up their youthful standards.
