This is super nice! Looks like its been about a year now, and I bet you are still loving every bit of that yard. At first I was curious how you would get an enjoyable oasis in such a small area (where I live in California desert the yards are an average of 2 acres in this area but its awful here). That really does transform the look of your area. Props to whoever designed that, and to whoever approved it! @6:00 go Coca Cola!!!

Thank you! Yes we absolutely love it especially with everything going on these days...my 3 kids are making so many memories. And yes the crushed marble is for drainage. I plan on making a more in depth video on everything you can expect when getting a pool installed and a closer look at challenges we had with our build and how we solved them.

It is a nice change and I'm sure the pool is fun. The only suggestion I'd have made would be to have some more space for plants instead of a solid concrete slab. It would be great with a bed for some bamboo or a palm tree or two by the door to break up the visual impact.

Hi, I just moved to NJ! Thinking about putting an offer down on a house but the small backyard gave me pause - your video is giving me hope! May I ask, did you work with a landscape designer or just the pool company to plan pool and patio?
Welcome to NJ! So, the pool was designed and installed by Anthony and Sylvan. Jersey Shore Landscaping did the retaining wall. As far at the much area and pruning I did that myself.

Did you build the pergola or was it a kit? That bar with a seating area attached to two of the support columns is pretty neat. I just put in a 17 by 16 paver patio and am deciding on what type of pergola to do, if I build one from plans out of wood, I am definitely ripping off that bar idea! Looks great. We put a pool in backyard in 2016. Next summer most of the grading was done, and I laid a smaller un of pavers along one length. Next year finished the pavers and fence. 2019, built a functional pizza oven with a nice old fashioned brick facade, last summer I finished off the concrete block base with decorative stone and we put a toilet in the wall out basement and fridge. Now we are about set for parties. This year doing the patio behind house (pool is off to one side, the down hill slope as I am on a hillside, retains wall nightmare for the pool), and I would like to build a fire place off that patio that can be enjoyed from there as well as inside as the patio comes up to French doors. Never ending improvements you can think of! Nice job getting that in a small backyard. Curious who was your builder? Only one I have heard a lot about in northern NJ is Seasonal World. I live in upstate NY but we try to hit up ocean grove and asbury park, Bradley beach etc, at least once a summer). Thanks for posting, even after putting a pool in I enjoy watching these, sometimes you get some new ideas.

Yard is about 70'x28' pool is 28'x14'.
Looks fantastic, great design and looks to be good craftsmanship. My question is regarding the time lapse video. Ho did you set it up (i.e. how many pics per minute, what kind of camera, etc.) thanks in advance for the info. we are starting our pool dig in two weeks and I can't wait.
The video was captured in realtime with my Swann security cameras. I then sped video up 128x during the editing process to appear timelapsed. Hope this helps.

No frogs, occasionally a mole will fall in but usually floats into skimmer basket.

What has this been costing you to reseal every year? And yearly maintenance ?
Reseal what the patio? Pool doesn't need to be sealed. Or are you talking about opening and closing pool in spring and winter?

Did you consider a fiberglass pool ?
We did, but it was more limiting in size and features so we went with gunite which really isn't much more then fiberglass and it's completely custom.

I thought the same thing but they pulled it off. They even said they've put pools even smaller yards.

These are what I use, 6 of them. Fence line is about 65 feet. Hope that helps.

I wanna say 25 feet from house to fence line. Where I live water line has to be at least 5 feet from house and property lines.
