Was blown away the first time I heard this live about 25 years ago, somewhere in the early '90s, and still am to this day. I haven't seen the boys live in about 15 years, listen to them basically daily; Short of being able to follow them on tour for a string of shows over 7-10 days as we used to, this is as good as it gets. Simply amazing!
Always wished during this song the crowd would honor the silence in the middle of the song. Would create such anticipation and an eruption when that next note was picked
EPIC! That Ernesto y Pagina interaction is like so much nonchalant I Can't Believe It's Not Butter that it's easy to forget that they've bever played it that way together before nor since.
Are there words to capture how special Trey Anastasio is, as a musician, as a soul? Probably not. I'm just glad he showed up here ti add some exuberant joy and light. And MAN!, can that brother burn down a solo. Rock on Trey. Rock on.
Yeah. Saw them on August in Long Beach Arena and it was truly a great experience. I traveled all the way from Finland to see them and I loved it. I can only imagine what it was like to see and hear them outdoors when the weather was warm and the sun was up. Luckily there this vid. Sad that they don't really do European tours. Phish is really an unknown band here.
What a cool venue this was. Took my soon to be girlfriend to her first show here. So amazing to watch somebody just be overcome with their first exposure to Phish.
I'm a Phish fan and am unfamiliar with the references to "Byron" throughout the thread. I could discern he was a WoW pvper that suffered from mental illness which then lead to suicide. Where does devotion to *this* song come from? Also, what is this bench to meet at in the future?
The bench is what he mentioned to his best friend chance he said to meet at the bench when they’re 64 unfortunately he passed and also the relation to the song is that he had played a riff of the song on his acoustic guitar on stream and it was played over chances tribute

That middle section with that insanely beautiful melody.... from 4:44... I always listen to just that part and skip the rest of the song.
