Hell Scarecrow told him from the beginning that his plan was simply to break Batman and not kill him and yet he acts as though he didn't know that. Considering how later on he goes on about how he just wants Batman dead, it makes me wonder why he bothered with the whole "making him suffer" nonsense in the first place.
Mr Grape Soda I think what Jason meant was that he wanted to make Batman suffer for a short while then kill him not the long drawn out sadistic suffering Scarecrow was going for since Crane was looking to destroy the symbol and myth of Batman utterly and turn him into an utterly broken man who was as prone to fear as everyone else and take away both Gotham and the world's hope for a savior and spread fear around it. He even says "I will empty this city of hope and fill it with fear."

Another example that bugs me is that at one point he gets the jump on Batman and even gets a shot on him but then...leaves? Like really? You don't kill him, or torture him yourself, or maybe bring him to Scarecrow? Or the time on Founder's Island where he comes in with a squadron and when he and Batman have a brief scuffle he still insists on running away? Even when he has all that man power on his side?
As well as dozens of drone tanks and aircraft, hundreds of militiamen-all former special ops and private contractors-thousands of thugs from the local gangs, and countless guns, grenades, rounds, and other necessities. As well as over six million people evacuated and an entire city turned into a war zone.
Scarecrow is the best Batman villain. Seeing him whimsical and despicable in Arkham Asylum, to his mysterious absence in Arkham City, to his butchered, tempered, and resolved person in Arkham Knight is an upmost tier character arc.
I believe that the changes on Scarecrow regarding his appearance, actions, even his voice are clues of how he has been affected by the events of the "Arkham Asylum" videogame. 1. Scarecrow got seriously maimed by Killer Croc, but it was thanks to Batman that he was still alive (Batman threw an electrifying Batarang at Killer Croc, if you remember). Killer Croc finally gave up on Scarecrow and left him seriously injured. After that near-death experience, he was left with an immeasurable hatred for the Batman, since he thought of Batman as responsible for his situation. Then, he decided he would make Batman suffer even more than he himself did. 2. The first thing he did was to change his way of thinking; he knew Batman had something that helped him induce fear in his enemies and that was his methodical and strategic approach. Scarecrow never had any long-term plan. He just scared people to madness because he enjoyed it. It was at this moment Scarecrow decided to be not just a mere actor, but the director of his new game that would bring Batman to his knees. 3. After that, he performed some crude cosmetic surgeries on his face, making himself even more monstrous and less human, so that he could be as haunting as possible. Then, he perfected his Fear Toxin, making the gas mask usage immaterial. Now, the Toxin could be absorbed not just through breathing, but through the skin contact as well. 4. His next move was to gather up his resources. Scarecrow needed allies in order to accumulate money, so that he could not only achieve massive production of the Fear Toxin, but also hire as many criminals as possible in order to assist him with his plan. I believe he already knew Joker was dead, so he decided the time was ripe for him to become the most powerful crime boss in Gotham. 5. During the time he had been meeting with the other criminals, he came across the Arkham Knight. He knew that Arkham Knight had a whole army at his disposal, fully equipped and trained in Batman's ways of acting, but what really won him over was the fact that Arkham Knight knew something even more valuable: he knew Batman's innermost fears, the identity of Batman's allies and how much they mattered to him. He knew he was now more than capable to break Batman, his legacy, his mythos and show to the world that Batman is just a mere human. Then, the whole Gotham would sink into oblivion and he could keep on expanding his reign of terror. All these actions were done so that Scarecrow could send a message to Gotham and the whole world: "There is no hope, but fear".
The batarang wasnt electrified. Croc had an oversized shock collar on. Bats hit that, it activated, Croc dove for the water hoping to short circuit it. Also, Scarecrow met the Knight before the meeting & it was Jason's idea for the team up. Not his. He went along with it because of wanting to get Batman where hes most afraid hed target & Jason having been Robin puts him in prime position for that relevation. But they met up before the meeting of the rogues villains & only set up that meeting together because the others needed to be convinced to work together so as not to make Bats job easier by having them take out each other. And then to convince them that all they need is a one night ceasefire during which theyd go about their business & not start anything with each other & Bats would be sufficiently distracted while the Knight's army helps Jason kill the Bat.
My man after his traumatic encounter with Killer Croc gained a much more intimate and deep understanding of fear: it’s not biology, or chemistry, it is the complete absence of hope. “How can Gotham cower and fear in the night? When their hope is in the form of a giant bar shining above the clouds?” He understood that trying to beat Batman physically or intellectually was utterly pointless and at best a temporary setback for the Batman, but a symbolic death? That was the secret the whole time. And you know what’s the best thing? He was right, he succeeded in killing Batman. That’s why Bruce was so convinced that he needed something new to protect Gotham in the worst scenario.
This is easy to explain: he wants TO BE treated with respect. He obviously doesn't respect other people and perhaps considers himself superior to them.
When Scarecrow was first announced to be the main antagonist of Arkham Knight's game, I remember being rather confused, because I didn't understood why was him chosen to be the new big bad after Joker's death. Sure, Scarecrow is an intimidating and dangerous villain, but his version in Arkham Asylum, while being really good, didn't felt like a main villain material for a game that is ment to conclude the Arkham series. Thankfully, John Noble made this new version of the character not only worthy of being the new main villain, but aside from that, now that I'm hearing this recorded dialogue between Scarecrow and The Arkham Knight, I understand now better why he was chosen- The Arkham Knight sought out Crane personally.
at first i was going to say Jason wasn’t really a “child of the asylum” as he was never a prisoner there but then I realized… he was. Joker held him at the Asylum for a long time, torturing him and branding him. Such a sad story
I wish they used these to explain what crane was doing for the past games, the affects of crocs attack, the mixing of the new toxins. Would have been nice
Great dialogs but...there is no good reason why should this be recorded...there was at least a good reason for Dr.Strange because as a psychologist, he needs to keep his interviews recorded...but this, feels really forced. There isn't even any attempt to explain who recorded that and why.

You can always make assumptions about Crane recording secretly those meetings...but it should at least be explained...because as it is, it feels reeeeally too much forced to show parts of the story.

Batman cannot exist, his symbol is torn to pieces and Gotham has suffered irrevocable spiritual damage. However, at this point, Crane has nothing to live for. His mission is complete, but now? He has nothing. His life is over and he has nothing left to aspire to or exist for. THAT is terrifying and that is why I think he reacts so strongly to the toxin at the end.
Even though he was one of his arch nemesis' in the arkham games, he was still underutilized in arkham knight. Too much joker not enough scarecrow. I think asylum got scarecrow the best. In arkham knight batman has hallucinations of joker, in asylum batman also has hallucinations where he turns into scarecrow.
Joker being an hallucination in this game is fine by me because he’s a direct product of Scarecrow new toxin, making Batman new fear of becoming Joker slowly taking over. No no, what actually stole the spotlight was the Arkham Knight who had a pointless “mystery” only for him ending up being Red Hood/Jason.

I think if see in certain cutscene or angle in this game Scarecrow had some sort of tube in his throat. But then again his height and build is totally different also.
He waa described as "perfectly sane, just evil" in the first game. I think this voice conveys that far better than Asylum, because he acted and sounded batshit insane there as opposed to his more calculated and sadistic persona here.
The audio logs are weaker than the ones in asylum or city. And scarecrow was originally just gonna use ordinary thugs for his plan before knight showed up? I don't think scarecrow os as intelligent as his fans or this gane try to make him out to be.
I get your point, but I sincerely doubt that Crane was “Originally just gonna use ordinary guards.” He was working with other villains at the time, who he probably firmly believed would provide him with proper soldiers.

I think this is my second favorite Scarecrow after Gotham. Jervis its the same. Gotham and then Arkham.
I want mentor like Scarecrow. He can be best teacher. As i am anti hero, i can support villains. But every rules needed a limit.

If you look carefully. Crane has a tube in his throat. Croc must have ripped him up bad.
I believe that in the first part of the game there was a mask effect on his voice. In the last part of the game, I think his real voice has no effect.

I think if see in certain cutscene or angle in this game Scarecrow had some sort of tube in his throat. But then again his height and build is totally different also.
Honestly, I like both versions equally, but for different reasons.
He waa described as "perfectly sane, just evil" in the first game. I think this voice conveys that far better than Asylum, because he acted and sounded batshit insane there as opposed to his more calculated and sadistic persona here.
Why couldent we have seen this seans of Arkham knight / red hood in the game because I didn't understand why he was working with scearcrow

The audio logs are weaker than the ones in asylum or city. And scarecrow was originally just gonna use ordinary thugs for his plan before knight showed up? I don't think scarecrow os as intelligent as his fans or this gane try to make him out to be.
I get your point, but I sincerely doubt that Crane was “Originally just gonna use ordinary guards.” He was working with other villains at the time, who he probably firmly believed would provide him with proper soldiers.
