JR Garage it’s because of the 02 censors in the cars exhaust system which freaks the car out you have to have them turned of by some sort of special computer that they Mercedes Benz specialists may have If you paint the car paint it original colour and put on Brabus monoblocks it will transform the car
Hey guys, an alternative to the equal length headers is to run an “elongated x pipe” where the pipes merge into one 2 foot or so section, and then split again. It equalizes the waves from the different banks, and gets you an extremely similar zonda-esque sound to the equal length headers, for a fraction of a price. For example, one guy did it with an E31 BMW 850Ci and Ferrari 599 mufflers and did an excellent job documenting.
Fly by wire accelerator pedal issue, most likely the throttle position sensor. Had the same issue on a 2000 S500. Try doing the reset mentioned below, otherwise you’re looking at a possible replacement pedal assembly...
I have a question for y’all I have an s500 I have a drain if my car sits for two hours it won’t start it’s showing entry mode on dash and the leveling system it has regular shocks now though
I merged the pipes on my S600 using a y-pipe merger into a single pipe which split in the rear. It has a higher pitched note. You can see the video of it on my channel. Also planning on getting the equal length headers from Brilliant Exhaust very soon.
but effspot one is not straight pipe but it's a specially made exhaust and keep in mind he always told that cost $12,000 everytime he made a video about it lol
Coincidentally I have bought a 2007 E550 (V8) that is practically brand new. The seller was a senior citizen who practically stored the car during winter and so it’s super super clean. First thing first- I’ve ordered and received the Seicane Headunit which will bring the car to today’s spec with Bluetooth and Apple Play. Ive also ordered E63 AMG quad exhaust tips that I found brand new on eBay for $200 shipped. Doing those two mods before January 1st. This will be my daily driver once I pick up my R8 in 2020 to replace my 2017 Maserati. After seeing this video and once I’ve gotten Maryland emissions cleared, I’m making mine louder!! Thanks for the idea and all the great things you do!
One of the cool things about the W220 compared to the older V12 is that it's 3-valve. This gives it a deeper smoother tone compared to the raspier tones that 4-valve engines produce. You can also observe this with the difference between the M112 and M272 V6 engines, as well as the 3-valve vs Coyote mustang engines. Mathematically speaking, 3-valves per cylinder have a huge performance advantage over 2-valves per cylinder, but 4-valves per cylinder aren't really that much better than 3-valves per cylinder, especially if you aren't revving to 8000+. With all of those factors considered, IMO it's 3-valves FTW in any sort of daily driver/street car/mixed-use build and 4-valves should be saved for legitimate race cars. Sadly, 3-valve engines are pretty rare, and there are no 3-valve 5-cylinder or straight-6 engines, and NO real "enthusiast" 3-valve engines that are actually viable compared to 2-valve or 4-valve counterparts except MAYBE the Ford Modular. But those are heavy and not supported at the highest levels of performance like the LS and Coyote are.
Do a manual shift, then you'll be able to get the really high v12 pitch! And I think your check engine is due to the kat-delete. You'll have to delete them from the software as well.
Symptomatic diagnosis as no fault codes are available: Suspect an accelerator pedal, they usually fail around WOT like yours did and a key cycle will make it work until the fault happens again. (Failure mode effects management) Might be worth cleaning the throttle body too, but that usually causes this issue around idle when coming to a stop.
My 01 CLK55 had the same issue, throttle position sensor, fly by wire, bought a replacement at pick-n-pull from an s class (part interchange in merc is crazy those years) and the problem is solved.
I failed to see the sensors in the exhaust system re-installed. That may be the throttle pedal problem. I replaced the throttle pedal assembly on my 6.0 diesel for the same behavior and that cure the "broken" pedal problem. All you need now are a set of 40" mud tires and go rock crawling!!
maybe its the lambda sensor what give the exhaust results to the engine computer. the sensor is removet i think after exhaust change... maybe.... good luck and hello from sweden
I mean for me I would never ever spend 12k on a car that even if sorted out would cost under 10k and that issue from the accelerator pedal needs scanning because it can even be from a o2 sensor
Just buy another gas pedal they’re only like 120 mine on my c32 amg just went out same issue the sensor and the gas pedal are all together simple easy repair
Push the brake firmly with both feet and hold it down. Don't pump the brake pedal or release it because you will lose all your vacuum power assist, causing your brakes to become stiff and very hard. Shift the car into neutral. If the car has a manual transmission, remember to depress the clutch to shift gears.
Whether painting it turquoise or pink, especially on an aging Mercedes, I'd strongly advise you to maximize corrosion preventive measures outside and in. During the eighties Mercedes-Benz rust protection went from being fairly decent to very poor. As you're already painting it, this is the perfect time to future proof this old creature. At least make very sure to not clog drains with the new paint. Self etching primer, epoxy paint systems, drilling a few extra drains before painting, it's worth the extra $100. So, whatever color black you end up choosing, do it right ;).
I think its the Airmass flow sensor , had to change mine couple of times , it certainly happens when you play with the exhaust, these Mercedes are so complicated that any change in the flow of air in or out leads to a failure in sensors around the engine ..
Mercedes does have their crazy protection of the engine, usually restarting the car will temporary fix the issue, but i recommend you guys to run diagnostic to see what code it throws. Usually gas pedal///
The car was in emergency mode it could come because of the full throttle the Mixture from gasoline and air wasnt right so you got the check engine light Im sorry for my englisch im coming from germany
Eze&Yare Dominguez not really sure what it is maybe its because of a Sensor wich was cut away you habe one in the exhaust wich mesures how much Emission come out and because of the cut the engine cannot mesure how the fuel air mixture has to be to run perfekt so the engine puts more fuel and less air in the combustion chamber or it puts more air and less fuel that would be really bad because of the high teperatures but the first thing you have to do is plug in an diagnosis device in the OBD port and scan for some false codes
ignition on, hold throttle on full will reset the gearbox, if it puts the check engine light on, then change the pedal. 5 min job. the plug is tricky but not impossible. had to change mine, only cost me $30 for a used part.
You guys should upgrade the ECU. I have the exact same S600, Eurocharged sells a Performance tune for $1299 and it takes the car from 493hp/590lb to 593hp/695lb. Extra 100hp AND torque. I did it on mine, and love it. I can spin the tires at 50mph. My gas pedal ALSO broke, it'll need a complete replacement of the pedal because the sensor is in the pedal and can't be replaced. The position sensor inside breaks after a while, if you plug an OBD monitor into it, you'll see that the pedal position stays the same. This is actually VERY dangerous, because one time, mine got stuck with an OPEN throttle!!!! I was just testing it at the time, but that could have easily lead to an accident, so make sure to replace it ASAP. It will reset itself when you restart, but it's broken, and must be replaced immediately before you get killed.
Check hoses, check fuses, check cables. It might even be one of the cable in the steering wheel, cause when you turn the steering wheel they might get error. This is Mercedes, wouldn’t let you down. Worst scenario is changing gas pedal which I don’t think going to be causing problem.
