    I wish they make scg premium as mcg is really comfortable only for large hands and is not suitable for desktop mounts as the stick is tall.

    For years I was one of those folks who believed that weight = quality.
    It all chenged when I've conneted a Virpil grip to the Warthog.
    It just changed my views of what quality actually means. But also showed me how big of a strain those +/- 1kg grips put on the joystick base.
    BTW. I did bought myself an old TM FLCS(which I hope to marry with MSFFB2 base) and it feels so much better than my Warthog. Especially in the center, compared to newer TM, it allows for almost smooth transition in the center. Using it as a part donnor for a project, almost feels bad TBH.

    One thing that makes me want to upgrade to MCGU from the current MCGP is the swappable ministick/hats. Like you, I don't like to bind the cursor control on the (right) stick since most western aircraft don't have it there. Having that said, I do wish they make the center-up hat a non-swappable hat(perfect for the trim switch) while making the center-down hat a swappable slot, specifically for the Apache right TEDAC grip. If it was the case, it would be so close to a perfect 1:1 mapping among the grips available on the market(still, it's the closest regardless).
    Another wish could be making the connecter more "standardized", or more "idiot"-proof so to speak. One issue I've observed a lot on the HOTAS\VKB discord server is the bad connection due to an incorrectly seated grip. A more standard PS/2-like pin+socket and ring locker(?) approach like TM, Virpil and WW would reduce it and the potential damage to the connector pad, while make it easier to swap btwn grips so that we don't need to buy multiple GF bases just for saving the hassle of swapping grips lol

    • @FalconsLedge
      @FalconsLedge  ปีที่แล้ว

      The software certainly needs some attention to make it more intuitive. As for the connector, there are plenty of issues with the TM style connector too. I just wish the connector was toolless. Now that I know it needs to be properly seated, hasn't been a problem.

  • @DaGhost141
    @DaGhost141 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My personal standpoint. I've got the MCG Pro and I think it's enough for pretty much anybody. The price difference is not really worth it in my opinion since while flying you really don't care what material the stick is made of. The plastic is super comfortable and the hats and base are the same anyway.
    I mean if you have the money and want the more premium materials go for it but for anybody else, the MCG Pro is easily enough.

    Waiting on the shipping of my first VKB stick. The lower end one, SCG versus the Eastern Block one you show here. If it's really what I'm looking for I imagine I'll spring for a second one; likely the omni throttle per your other review.
    I *do* hope VKB develops another grip like this, but for left hand. My right hand took some serious damage overseas so I've lost a lot of dexterity with it for hats and such; left hand hats are going to have to be the way for me in Star Citizen.

    Nice one! Might have mentioned price differences though. In the EU-store, they upped the price on the Ultimate quite significantly. When I ordered my GF MCG Pro a few weeks ago, the Pro was (and still is today) €419 while the Ultimate was around €520 or so. Now the Ultimate GF is €598. It's a bit more scary looking with stand-alone grips. MCG Pro (non twist) is €175 while the Ultimate is €329. While I'm pretty sure I would've done the irresponsible thing and ordered the Ultimate had it been in stock, I'm not super sure it would've given me the "better" grip. Sadly (or luckily) there was only one MCG GF in stock in the EU store when I ordered and that was a Pro with Russian labels.
    Pretty sure I wouldn't consider the Ultimate now because €600 is very close to what I'd have to pay for a CM3 Virpil with an Alpha or T50 grip.

    • @JackManiacky
      @JackManiacky 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This stick on an extension is awesome. If you are keeping a stick for 15 years, the MCG ultimate is a no brainer. It's like $30-40 a year over that period. If you really don't want to spend all the money up front you could get the gunfighter base with the ww2 grip, and buy the MCG at a later time. The gunfighter base is really the important part. When you switch to a customizable base with an extension it totally changes the feel for flight sims. It's so much more precise.

    For anyone perhaps considering, I'd recommend the Space Combat Stick VKB do. Sure, it doesn't have the Russian writing on the side or look as sexy with the kudos of being modelled upon the Su-27's stick, but owning both I find the Space Combat stick has everything you could want and is easier to access all the buttons and hats. The only real downside being it doesn't have the brake lever the MCG has. I wish VKB would of made all the Coolie Hat styled controls button activated with an option to replace one with the 'gamepad' style stick, instead of the x2 gamepad controls that they went with. All in all though, it's a great stick and you wouldn't be disappointed either way. It's just I'm finding it difficult to justify swopping over from the Space Combat Grip as it's more versatile.

    • @ArchOfficial
      @ArchOfficial 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm fairly sure the software can do just that. It's a bit daunting, though. I want to do exactly that, just haven't been arsed to figure out the software.

    • @ryansta
      @ryansta 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ArchOfficial Hi, the control Hats I am talking about use a different switch type - something similiar to what you'd see with an Xbox or PlayStation gamepad. Which granted gives you 8 directions of travel, where you can gauge your movement speed and distance moved plus the push button, so is perfect for things such as slewing the targeting cursor, radars, and such like, where as the other is just a four way plus push Hat using micro button switches and has a more solid positive either On/Off action. Even though there may be a work around with the software, you wouldn't get the same feedback. This is not to say how it is is bad or poor in any way at all, don't get me wrong, it is a brilliant grip all round and highly recommended. Anyone getting one will be more than satisfied and it'll do everything they could want. It's just for me, it'd be great if I could swop over one of the 8 ways to a 4 way with push on this grip and out of both of them what I own I find the Space Grip as it's known does everything that well already, though it doesnt have the brake lever so for those flying without rudder set ups the MCG would perhaps be better for those playing flight sims especially with the WW2 propeller aircraft that'll shift weight so fast if too much brake is applied, the nose tips forward and wrecks the engine. Using a on/ off key press can be deadly here.
