I love that Steve Dunnington's weird educational synths for the Moogfest (RIP) engineer workshops keep coming out. I'm really excited to see what he comes up with next.
When I first heard about it I wasn't really interested because I already have Fumana and the TipTop Buchla 296t. But honestly, Moog is the best when it comes down to filters and this machine sounds absolutely amazing. It's a great choice to include a LPF on the left so you'd always have 'low end body'. You're currently my go to channel for anything related to Moog.
First of all, love the sounds you are showing off. That sound at 8:05 reminds me of the intro sounds to Devo’s version of Are You Experienced? Wonder what they were using for their gear on that. That voice remap is crazy…
Mylar, you are beyond incredible in every which way (and I've learned stellar amounts from all you've done)!!! But man, I wish you also had a non attenuated non spectral lfo'd non vocoder version of this that's narrated with your full bandwidth of dulcet English accented tones!! My Aussie eyesight / L.A. attention span ain't good enough for closed caption text absorbing / smooth movin' Moog dials while traveling on sonic escamapades!! Sounds like a page out of Animalia!! #awesomeeitherway
Commenting at 2:50 to say the beat was so good I started clapping where the claps were, so I didn't notice you even had analogue claps in there until I stopped
You should create a full track with the sequence and sound @ 12:39 - it could easily become an instant classic imo. Could you share a few words on how you actually get the snare/hihat on the Spectravox to sync with the sequence? It's not apparent from the video.
You just vocalise “tsh!” and it gets passed to that top band and sounds like a snare - I’m just badly beatboxing hence the funky timing - but it turns it into something else entirely
@@mylarmelodies what fx setup are you routing the sound from the Spectravox? (had to come back to this section of the video, the sound is simply out of this world with the fx).
@@mylarmelodies I like rother but he use better quality vocoders... with this one is impossible to understand words... anyway, you can use it with other modulators and it´s ok this way
Great demo but the Spectravox isn't for me. I've watched a few demos of it and it sounds kinda shit to be honest. Maybe it's because I'm not using my monitors and listening to it on a laptop but it sounds very anemic and cheap.
@beggbasso287 if you know your speakers you can get a fair assessment. I've since listened on monitors and headphones, and I still stand behind my assessment. It just doesn't sound that great.
terrible vocoder can hardly understand what your saying. I Have the M32 and DFAM The Mother is really good but the dfam not very good, come on Moog make things better.
Dfam not very good?? So I guess what’s happening is these are not for everyone. These are for analog sonic exploration. For me the dfam is amazing. The more time you spend with it the better it gets.

Google Moog Labrynth if you want some spoilers...
Oooff, this + DFAM + Subharmonicon make a great techno loop/rumble machine!
Not the first Spectravox demo but certainly the most entertaining thus far, …..Wesley.
THAT's exactly the stuff why I've subscribed to your channel. Ace! 👍 More of this crazy Moog-stuff, please. :)
one of your all-time best demos. nailed it
Impressive, one of the best Ad for those Moog Modules.
The integrating eurorack section is sublime!
5:02 is very lowfish / solvent sounding. I love it.
Last bit is so good!
Best demo i've seen so far! Thank you! 😁

Sehr schön Herr Mylar Melodies. You get very desirable sounds out of this box (and all the others boxes).
Neat, great fun demo and machine. Cheers
Oh shit is that a 3FAM?

I’m definitely getting this thing (and the new Labyrinth as well). Probably add another DFAM.
The subtitties are absolute class mate!
Another dalek TH-cam banger 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

well, so turns out I need this, thanks Alex...

Great demo!
feels like the Spectravox speaks to itself hahaha
It said what it wanted to say
That was Amazing!

👏👏👏
Wow man. Love the vocolaugh. Will be revisiting this one. 🍻
This whole moog semi-modular thing is starting to make sense to me.
They’re more for people who like to take time and explore. Oscilloscope required. Amazing machines.
No one tells me to turn on subtitles. …
(A few moments later)
I should probably turn the subtitles on.
Sounds amaziiiiiiiiiiiiing❤

@@aborum75 Thanks m8. Just reverb from the UA Golden Reverb, which is a vintage Lexicon 224 Hall Algorithm!
Damn, the Cylons and Daleks have joined forces and taken over the channel, mate :) lol
Holy molly this sounds really fcking good
Killer drums step😍
You had me at hired.
It looks slightly smaller then the previous units, will it fit in the stand?
du verdammter genie 😂🤘 ace-o-mat❤
Anyone else get nervous seeing the location of that uncovered cup of tea?
Best Demo !!!
Dammit mate, now I have to put that one on the list.
So, it's a really big effect module to sound like an imperial droid
Sounds about right
I'm a bit of a hellscape enjoyer myself.
Beautifully bizarre... 😊
X Æ A-12 real voice 😂
Needing subtitles to make the vocoder intelligible is all you need to know about said vocoder. I love the sound of this thing, though.
I dunno, the second point is what counts!
I had subtitles off and understood 90% of it.
Thanks man
I think this counts as (no talking)
sehr kool
That cup of tea mi lad is tooooo nieeearr your modulaaaar. Put it at a safe location mi lad :P
tis areet ah put it in me guts!
My man!
Three DFAMs 😲
specteculravox
I find Vocoders are a bit of a one hit wonder really.😊
sucks as a (voice) vocoder, but it´s a nice device for other stuff
I dunno - reckon if you could make some horribly tuff electro I think it could rule as a vocoder. just listen to some anthony rother

Yeah that'd be why.
Nah it's nothing special
Get yer ears checked. ;)
Saying that something sounds kinda shit just by listening it from “laptop speakers” is wild

Nope
Nope, that wasn't annoying at all. 😑 Two minutes of that, and I'm out. Guess I'll watch loopop...

Terrible vocoder. So will be interesting to see how this compares to the Labyrinth, since they are both just filter banks, it seems.
They will be very different. Which is your favorite analog vocoder?
Such a disappointment.
expensive crap, lousy sound
right, i know what i am going to do with the rest of my life...
Sex or listen music while smoking…?
