You should get the tyre repaired with the mushroom type plug as well as replacing the inner tube. If you leave a hole in the tyre, water can get in and start to separate the layers the tyre is made up of

In my case, the reason for putting a tube in a cast tubeless rim is that it's a new tire, and for added security, I would patch plug the tire and add a tube. Then I wouldn't have to buy a new tire and not worry about the patch going out.

You seem to be an expert on rims, wonder if you can tell me if the flanges on tube and tubeless rims are shaped differently. On bicycles, for example, they are different and it is dangerous to run a tubeless tire on a tube type rim. Is that the case for motorcycle rims?

This was a really interesting video, as was Jake's lacing up a wheel and his other one of making them tubeless. FortNine recently made a video on tyres/tires too and how they sit on a rim of a motorbike compared to a car. I have Kineo tubeless spoked wheels on my Moto Guzzi V7, they look bling as hell and are a bit lighter than the forged ones they replaced and the tubed option on the other verients of the V7. On the dirty bikes, Big_Pezza mentioned on Twitter that there is the TUbliss system which is very cool and allows you to run 0 psi if you wanted to for mega traction, you can also get mouses and tireballs, which will stop you ever having to worry about punctures again, but I don't think they are legal for road use due to heat issues.
