Really look forward to more of these videos. We do a lot of rolling offsets with unknown angles while having to run pipe through floors to clear I beams before turning towards the next fitting location. Also showing how to pull measurements for an ISO would be helpful when there are numerous obstacles in the way to prevent use of plum bobs, etc. We get it done but know there is a way to do it with math and cutting the angle on the fittings so we really want to learn that to look more professional in the field.
That’s very easy. Measure both inside and outside radius of fitting. Divide those measurements by 90. That’s give you you length per 1°. Then take that length times desired degree and it’ll tell you how long both inside and outside need to be to get that degree. Then mark and cut it
Why he only take 1/16 out for 2 welds, some people take an 1/8 gap, if it’s two welds you need 1/4 takeout if you’re compensating, if you take a 1/16 gap you need 1/8 takeout!
It all depends on your welder! As far as stick welding most likely a 1/16th gap and tig a 1/8th gap. They might ask for a 5/32 or 3/16 sometimes tho! Just need to ask man.
I’m a fabricator but we don’t do much welding in my trade. I DO know how to weld though. What I like about videos like this is we all speak that secret language. Burn an inch, 90,45….
You don’t take off gaps with stick welding downhill. I only take off 3/16 per 2 gaps for mig process. None for tig stainless either because it shrinks so bad it’ll draw up the whole gap

i got to start paying attention in math
Same
You’ll get it the more you practice.
I'd love to see how to cut an Elbow. Just did a 14" water pipe job and needed to cut an elbow at 60 degrees. I wore out a grinding wheel fitting it.

What he said!
Take a measurement of the spine and throat. Divide those two measurements by 90, multiply it by 60 and mark your cut.
You beat me by a year! Lmao
Don’t forget the gasket take off when doing as built fab work
You are really a good teacher for me thanks sir
Glad to hear! No problem
Can you make a video on how to fit up a 90 elbow and prevent it from rolling

Definitely still a real good chance he’s taking a break 😂

This is great content. Good job. And thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just curious but wouldn't you take off a 1/16 gap for both the 90 and the flange?

Same question got me
as far as scetching isos is it personal preference where north is?
I'm so interested to learn more
That’s great! Why don’t you send your application so we can teach you more? linktr.ee/WesternWelding
Do u need a rig to be a pipe fitter ?
Do they teach you math fitting for the pipes in western acdemy
yes we do, but we teach it in a way everyone could understand
Missed a weld gap buddy
Well if he or she is doing some fitting Im not doing my job!
Oh Christ I lost me plan
😳
