  • Hey fellow surf addicts, so today we’re reviewing The JS Black Baron 2.1 from JS Surfboards. This board was instantaneous, and handles great in head high to overhead waves. It’ll also do the small stuff if you have a slight bit of push. This is a super fun piece of craft.
    Fins Used:
    - FCS 2 MR 2+1 Set
    - FCS 2 Large Am’s
    Conditions: 2-5 ft
    Filmed: Using The Go Pro Hero 12 (1080p) #surf #gopro #goprohero12 #surfing #jakesboardreviews

    Hey Jake,
Have you surfed the Baron 2.0? Can you compare it, especially it looks like that it’s better in bigger waves however loses a bit on smaller days. By any chance could you also compare the baron to the hypto twin and where you would see the differences?
    Thanks

Hey mate, by the Baron 2.0, are you talking about the Red Baron? Because there are a few Barons in The JS Board line. I’ve never ridden the Hypto Twin, so I can’t compare that board to others.

I’m interested to hear more about how this board held in bigger, steeper surf. I’m considering a 6’2” for hollow winter beachbreaks on the East Coast, U.S.A. It seems like the board has good flip in the nose and has a good shape, I’m a bit wary of the tighter rails for bottom turns.

Hey mate, sorry for the late reply. This board worked a treat in hollow sections surprisingly and I’d definitely recommend riding it as a 2+1. The MR’s worked a treat in this board. In Futures, The T1’s are a great fin option to, as they are a similar template if that helps.

I would say in regards to the tighter rails, it can sometimes feel a bit skatey in the bottom turns, but you’ll cut through it.

Good video. Make your thumbnail a cool picture of your POV surfing. Also include gopro in the title maybe. Also do a voiceover on the footage later because the gopro audio isn't amazing.
