Thanks Rene we loved visiting Sandon and what an awesome history lesson you gave us! Everyone in Sandon is so open and friendly - I highly recommend a visit to BC's coolest Ghost Town. Thanks for watching.
Great tour , a lot of these unknown places have quite a history. I found the generator house very interesting and the fact they switched up to AC. I was born in Vancouver in 1955 , same year as their fateful flood.
@@johnready630 I found it interesting as well that they were originally running on DC and then switched to AC. Everything is still running strong in the powerhouse. It powers New Denver downstream of the powerhouse. Thanks for watching!
I had yet to, on this December 2024 Friday Pacific Time, hear about Sandon before having viewed the title of a video of that ghost town in my TH-cam feed. From the start I could tell that the town had no doubt seen better days.
Prospectors, look for certain plants that grow where certain minerals can be found. We learned this when we spoke to the fellow at the power house, years ago. We drove through Sandon, and up to Idaho Peak. Amazing view.
I was in Sandon as a 10 year old around 1969. I don't remember it anything like this. No busses or trucks. Just old decrepit buildings. It was fun. Obviously something went on between then and now.
Those buses are OLD! WE had them in Windsor ontario, they faded them out with newer buses in 1970 or 72. Considering these were built in the late 38 to 48 era
@darrelltravels it chimed a different bell for each coin and driver was responsible to count and collect each fare by sound though he could confirm it by sight should a dispute arise 😆 I was about 15 when they switched to the drop floor so around 1970
What town? I want my tourist $$s back! Tourism is way overrated. How to be a tourists, don't buy t-shirts that says, the town,or hi I'm with stupid,or silly hats, shirts ,spinning wheels! Just come as you are, enjoy the veiw! Or,do exactly what I said not to do,and spend $$ like coolaid on silly stuff! And enjoy your self!😊 Rich tourist, poor tourist!😢😮😅😊 And let's not forget bumper stickers!
That was awesome... Thank you for visiting Sandon, capturing it, and sharing it... A pleasure it was to meet you...
