@@creatorsvillage is it still your go to dynamic? Im considering this or the new podmic usb/xlr .... which do you recommend. gonna use it with the wave xlr.
@@FunFunnys Yes, the Mackie is on my boom arm right now. BUT, I just got the new podmic and i'm going to create a review vid on it compairing it to my Mackie and my AT2040. Probably also the MV7
Here’s the truth it sounds great! That being said you’ve sold me on a couple of mics later that didn’t really work for me because your voice is AWESOME! You and booth junky could be national radio hosts and the whole world would listen. Thanks for the review. I may try it!
Hey man thank you so much for making this review. I purchased very recently and I am awaiting its arrival. I could not find any real reviews on it, but I know I need to upgrade my Blue Yeti. I really want a high quality sound for everything voice related that I need to do. I am blown away!! I am glad I picked the right mic for me from what it seems. Can't wait to receive it. Best, Dub
Rick,..how much "Post Processing" did you do with the EM 99B when you were at the end of your video? I use the EV RE20 and I love it but would like to have just one more for overhead work and leave it attached to the Boom arm for that. I think that 99B might be a better solution than a shotgun mic that I was looking at. Thoughts? I too have a deep voice and I think that 99B allows for it to shine but also allowing for a bit of crisp to the mids so that it keeps things bright and not too deep.
You are correct! I've bought lots of different Mackie gear. Your voice is quite a bit deeper than mine, so I was prepared to return it if not a good match. Nope! Great sound. Kept it over the MV7.
I really like your voice. To me, on my headphones, though the at2040 is muddier it's also smoother, the em-99b is more clear but is much harsher, sharp. I get fatigued by the sound pretty quickly. ❤ your videos.
Hey CV. Do you think a condensor mic is good for someone with excessive mouth noise/clicks? I switch from a condensor mic to the MV7. I love how my voice sounds with the MV7, and have a deep tonality similar to your voice. The issue I have is that when I try to put the mic closer to keep more of that resonance, I hear nothing but mouth clicks due to medication I take which causes severe dry mouth. I tried everything from angling the mic 45 degrees, xylitol gum, pulling coconut oil before recording but nothing works. I used iZotope's software, but not even that could remove all of the clicks. When I had my condensor mic, I did not have that issue as I didn't need to pull in the mic as close. Just wondering what your opinion is on this issue.
@@creatorsvillage Appreciate the answer! I actually use an AI program called Descript to remove the mouth noises and it works very well, so sticking with the MV7.
It really depends on the mic. typically condensers are used because they provide a broader frequency response. The RE20 is a solid mic, also the Neumann BCM 705
I'm listening to your video with headphones and I'm hearing some crispy sibilance, that's unexpected for a dynamic mic. Some folks might need that but on your voice it's too much.
Hey, thanks!
Welcome!
This may be the best sounding dynamic I’ve heard you review yet. Very impressed.
Thanks for the comment.
which one do you compare? Rode Procaster? SE Dyncaster?
@@DieTabbi DynaCaster wins thanks to those switches. It’s also more expensive.

It sounds stellar! Right now I think the sub $200 dynamics to beat are this and the new SE DCM3/6. Should be a good year for budget mics
Agreed!
Is this still your favorite dynamic mic or are you using something else now?
Great quality as always. Thank you for all of your good work!
My pleasure!
I have watched all your videos and I love it.
Most the mics reviewed are not available where I live, and I’m still looking for…
Aren't we all. Thanks for the comment.

Hey, I just used a bit of compression to even it out, but only at the end.

@@creatorsvillage Hi Rick, I have the Denon AH-D1001.
Great Review
Thanks!
I really wanted to give it a thumbs up, but the pineapple thing... 😋😂 No. Great Video! Thank You!
what are your settings? !?!?! i use a LCT 240 PRO but i want to edit my voice just like yours.
Nice review. sadly the EM-99b is not on sale in Germany atm
Fingers crossed that it comes soon.
Great review! As a singer/music producer, I'm really interested in how it would sound for musical purposes. Do you have any experience with that?
Not really. You can check out Podcastage, he does some music samples in his mic reviews.
Excellent video, thanks 😎
Managed to get a new one for $63 delivered, a bargain at that price!
is the em-99b mackie still your go to dynamic? Looking to get a mic for podcasting / video podcasting ..... what to get ?
Currently yes. I'm choosing the Mackie when I need a dynamic mic. HOWEVER, I just bought the new Rode podmic, and i'm going to test it very soon.
It sound great. Do you have any tips on how to get that sound?
I didn't process the audio at all. So what you're hearing is what the mics sound like.
Mackie EM-99B mic sounds better than the AT2040, more brighter. Good video
Thanks!

Get the sE Electronics DynaCaster.

You could also try the Blue Ember. It has a very warm tone, and in my tests, the pops and clicks were reduced.

This thing looks and sounds great. The sub-$200 dynamic broadcast-style mic field is getting crowded with decent choices.
True.
wow that thing is beefy sounding
Thanks for the comment.
I wounder, is it would be good for a voice acting mic? Rick, what is your opinion on voice acting with dynamic, like re20 for example?
It really depends on the mic. typically condensers are used because they provide a broader frequency response. The RE20 is a solid mic, also the Neumann BCM 705
I also think that sounds better than the 2040 on ya. Now I'm tempted to get it. As I think our tones are similar. Dang it lol
I know, I was suprised too.
What chain link do you use for your voice over work?
With videos, I don't use anything. With VO, I use a Manly and then the iZotope declick and expander.
Going for $120 now at Sweetwater.
Good luck!

Enough already with the random letters and numbers.

Phew. The Mackie demolished the AT2040 - at least on your voice
Surprised me too.
