You can have your own opinion about the Brotherhood of Steel but we can't deny that in every Fallout game ( even the most hated ) and every chapters has complete the main duty of the Brotherhood : protect the world from the abominations of the past. In fallout 1, Brotherhood of Steel and a part of Tactics they give a major help to destroy the super mutants threat. In fallout: New Vegas they try to protect places of destruction like Helios one from the hands of superpower like the NCR or the Legion (even if they failed ). In fallout tactics they save the world from an army of robots at a time where the only faction who could hoped stop them was the Enclave.
