- Drift Diaries Episode 103 - F1 technology for my road car! I head up to Zircotec to see the ceramic coating process up close in person! Withstanding temperatures of up to 1400 degrees Celsius, it will certainly come in handy with my S15 drift car. On a quest to massively reduce engine bay temperatures and reduce intake air temperatures, the Zircotec ceramic car coating process has been proven in tests to lower engine bay temperatures by up to 50%, with a 33% reduction in exhaust surface. The performance gains are incredible, not to mention the asthetics. I watch the ceramic coating application using a Plasma, incredible stuff. We also coat my screamer pipe, with my turbo exhaust housing, external wastegate, downpipe and manifold soon to do things are gonna be getting pretty cool! Forget heat soak and over heating (setting on fire lol), this stuff is where it's at! Really good informative video. I want to get my Ducati Panigale v4s exhaust treated as without this the heat from the exhaust burns you legs in slow summer traffic. Its a nightmare, so hope this works.

i was working in aerospace coatings like this 15 years ago for rolls royce etc, nice to see it petering out down to car mods :P we did some work for the subaru rally team once coating the brake discs with a ceramic. do these guys only do zirconium coatings with their name? if anyone was interested in this, my old place of work did lots of custom 1 off work for people, they were called Plasma Coatings Limited. in tideswell, derbyshire :)

MONKY LONDON A work around might be to use a stabilising filter on whichever video editor you use? I don't know what you use, but DaVinci Resolve has an awesomely good stabilisation filter.

If you allow heat to transfer from the manifold, does that not free up flow by reducing gas expansion and therefore increase the ability to create boost?

Zircotec done my manifold, compressor housing and my downpipe for me, even 2 years later it still looks fresh

its more expensive than ceramic paint, think i was around the £450 mark for all my bits if i remember, but like the saying goes, you get what you pay for! that was on my 4 pot zetec turbo manifold

if you look up engine masters they try out many headers and vs ceramic coating... the hp gain is about 4 hp or less with the coating... the huge benefit is the massive heat reduction under your hood... secondary is the protection and the looks... looks for me is the last deal since i dont pop my hood for every gear head who wants a peek!!!
