It's great that there is one channel showing truly advanced real-life examples of CAD models made in FreeCAD, similar to those from SolidWorks tutorials, for instance. Other channels about FreeCAD keep repeating the basics and showing very simple models as if they thought that FreeCAD couldn't be used for anything more complicated.
This is a really great Video. its fun to follow your steps and copie them. will watch more of the Videos from you and try my best in all of them! Tank you very much!
This seems like a fairly sophisticated mechanism and freeCad can certainly handle it. However is it really necessary to have each part in a separate document? In actually conceptualizing and designing a mechanism like this from scratch, it would certainly be preferable to have all the parts present and visible in the same window when designing. Especially if you want to make it parametric. For instance the length of the roller would depend on the diameter and separation of the two metal brackets. Presently I'm using Onshape and would consider switching to freeCAD. But in Onshape you can design this whole thing in the same document in one window with many different parts present at the same time, and fairly easily make it parametric. If you want the parts to move, or you have a very complicated machine with lots of different sub-assemblies, only then would you have to use a separate "assembly" window.
In a separated document, no. You can design all parts in a unique document. For designing things from scratch you are right, all parts "must" be in the same document. I proceeded this way on the video because I already knew her dimensions. Design all parts from scratch in a single document in FreeCAD requires knowledge of how it actually works.
Hi, thank you for the excellent videos, I'm facing an issue when I try to complete the union step of the frame (The Body and the Array) in the Part WB. I get a failed Fusion (Multifusion Failed) message when I hover over the Fusion entry in the model tree. Do you have any idea why this is happening?
Houuu, advanced version. Maybe it's not working because of the version. I thought you were using a version lower than 0.21 but in fact I am using an old version. I will download your FreeCAD version and test it. Thank you for reporting the issue!
Minute 7:00. Have you tried to make a circular pattern in the sketcher with that line and then in the sheet metal do the fold? Or after do it with the first line then add the others with the circular pattern in the sketcher. Maybe it works because of the parametric stuff
The way I show it in the video saves time. Even if you do the circular pattern of the line in Sketcher workbench, you will waste much time folding, because that feature on SheetMetal workbench don't allows fold operations for sketches that a "complex", it accepts only a single line... So you will waste your precious time. Thank you!
Nice to see the construction of the part, but from where do you have the exact angles and dimensions ? If i want that construct for my self, i have for example not the right length of the rollers for fitting betweet the top and bottom. Maybe you can show how to solve that problem ?
Yes, I understand you. But as I said in the description of the video, the video is based on SolidWorks version that I seen here on TH-cam. What I done was only to adapte it in FreeCAD, with some and small changes on the dimensions. The "exact angles" I get it after trying it on FreeCAD. If you see the SolidWorks version video, you will note that the sketch I used to create the pockets is a little bit different. If you want to construct to yourself there are some tricks that can be used to solve that issue.
How do i export the wheel as whole to stl format? We need to select a body and then export. But in the assembled wheel there is no single body representing the whole wheel.
@@OffsetCAD If i am directly selecting export without selecting an object, i am getting error "Select the objects to export before choosing Export." and if i am selecting a part, A SPECIFIC PART OF THE WHEEL is being exported and NOT the whole wheel.
SOLUTION: Import the whole assembled wheel into a new file. Now the wheel would appear as a single unit and can be exported easily by selecting it and clicking export.
it did not work ( union + array ) to boolean parts together in minute 10:24 of this video ! where is the problem ? if i leave it as it is and go on follow your video , would i confront a problem later on this video?
I found the issue..... when you create the array, in the Menue on the left side, there is a checkbox "Fusion", this one had to be checked. Then the problem will disapear.
its hard to see the lines in the wihte background ! i can't see what are you doing in minute 5:12 to 5:29 even if you talk , it hard to see what you did . anyway . don't use WHITE BACKGROUND USE BLACK OR BLUE OR WHATEVER but not white ! thankyou

Yeah! It is hard to do that examples, but it worth. I learned too much things even with the FreeCAD limitations.
make an earbud design
Off course. Is a good ideia. Thank you, I will work on it. When finished a video will be available.

Thank you very much. Your play list is very interesting and usefull. Super content.
Thank you!
Only great. Thank you so much 🙂
Great video and explanation. I learnt a lot. Thanks.

No ideia. Are you using the same FreeCAD version as mine?
@@OffsetCAD My version is 21.2

@@OffsetCAD Thanks for your informations. I have not seen the Solid Works video. But now it makes sense.

Go to file more and look for export and then look for the STL format select that format.

I don't know why you are having that issue, it worked for me without problems. Yes, during the import process in A2plus workbench.
I found the issue..... when you create the array, in the Menue on the left side, there is a checkbox "Fusion", this one had to be checked. Then the problem will disapear.
sorry...it is the "Fuse" Checkbox
Thank you!
Bem legal!
Não é?
