really helpful, thankyou!
I finished making the model and thank you for the video. I could not follow the steps for polar pattern and instead just made each hole on the front face, this worked OK. It is good FreeCad 1.0.0 is now released.
oo, if you English pronunciations could be just a little more understandable, this lectures would be really terrific...
??? What do you mean exactly sir?
FreeCAD is the most user-friendly computer-aided design software in my AMD-Intel-Ryzen 15th gen chipset 64GB RAM computing unit on Nexus cloud at Nevada datacenter. I use it everyday for my design class at University of New Mexico. We really support the framework and it runs smoothly on our Linux clusters across the campus. I can even access FreeCAD from my Apple DesignTab.
It is still not useable compare to freecad link branch. Sorry. You cannot extrude multiple scetch elements which are not connected to eachother or to a previous element in a tree... It works very good in Freecad Link Branch. It makes this update useless.
Yes, you can. You have to activate "Allow multiple solids in Part Design Body by default" - it is an experimental setting in the Part Design / General settings. But yes, Link Branch still has many helpful exclusive features. But (at least until the hopefully imminent merge) FreeCAD 1.0 also has a lot of things that the current build of the Link Branch doesn't have yet.
@@ferdinand9802 Thanks, I didn't know about this option in the settings. And yet it doesn't work as expected. Try extruding a large block, create a sketch on its surface. In the sketch, draw several non-intersecting circles or rectangles. Close the sketch, make an extrusion - a pocket. Free Cad will successfully create several of these holes, but you will get an error if you try to make a fillet or chamfer on the edge of one of these holes. In the Link Branch version, this works fine.
Could you please make a tutorial on settings? I have ryzen 7 6800H paired with rtx 3050, but lags alot after importing Step files with size of 50-100MB+
Я думаю после выхода стабильной версии многие CAD конкуренты задрожали)). Удачи мы ждали этого не один десяток лет. 🎉🎉🎉
How many versions are there of this world-class software?
This is cool, But all your different installs are all linked to the same AppData/Roaming/FreeCAD folder. "polluting" the same AppData Roaming folder preferences from different builds. I recently made a video about this. and a few posts on the freeCAD forum. interested in what you think.
is a any difference between ReleseCandidate4 from stable version? because I don't know is any sense to update.
Hi, thanks for another great tutorial, if you allow me to make a sugestion, could you make a tutorial on how to create, modify the original shape with the intention of generate errors and how to fix them. I've been practicing and sometimes I get some, for example wire not closed or eliminated edges that used to have a chamfer and when the new shape it's finished in the sketch, the missing edge error don't allow the object to reflect it's new shape... a tutorial like that will be very helpful for begginers, including me 😉
Hello! Much thanks for the suggestion! I'm considering you done your previous models in version earlier to the current (FreeCAD 1.0 it's now out as stable version), as 1.0 is considered the big game change for the CAD community maybe in this version that errors you used to find will not appear in this current version. I'm also testing the new FreeCAD 1.0, if I find issues like you mentioned a video of this model solving errors will be available indeed.
@@OffsetCAD Hi, I'm using the version 1.0, I have encountered a few errors, for example... in the first sketch I draw a rectangle of 30mm lenght by 18mm height with a circle of 5.5mm of diameter, with a distance 9 mm from the left border and a height of 9mm from the bottom line, all lines are constrained, finish the sketch, apply Pad of 8mm, then add a chamfer of 2.5mm to the circle and everything is fine, but I change the position of the circle then there is an error with the chamfer, it says border missing or something like that I don't remember the exact description... And I wonder why... there are no other geometries of objects that "colide" with the new position of the circle... It's a little confusing... jajaj sometimes I want to quit and stay with fusion 360, but for some reason I keep returning and giving freecad another chance 😁
What is new in this version?
A lot of things sir! Check this list of things from the site: wiki.freecad.org/Release_notes_1.0
WoW!
These steps fail for me. At 4:23 in your video you select the faces, then the 'thickness' tool. When I do that I get error: "Select an edge, face, or body from an active body." But the "Body" is active (shaded blue), so I don't know what is going on.
fyi... I can get a similar result by removing the fillets and doing the 'thickness' operation on the 'Pad' model. Then I went into wireframe, selected the inside and outside edges and did the fillet. No error encountered doing it that way.
So thanks for trying another way of getting the same final model! Happy FreeCAD learning.
Amazing work!
FANTASTIC keep up the good work, made a donation
Thank you!
woooow... excelent! thanks
love your videos mate. keep it up 👍
Thank you!
Is there a way to mirror bodies not features in the part design workbench? Thanks!
Yes! Is there a way! Inside Part workbench, select your body and then mirror tool, choose your plane, ok. The new generated object you can make it single creating a simple copy of using part tools.
@@OffsetCAD I did it thanks!
Thank you!
Gracias por tus vídeos ❤
adhiero !.. muy gran labor!!! slds desde argentina!
Gracias por ver
WOW, when i seen title i knew im gonna learn a lot from you! so good!
Great video! I have been following along. In this video, I don't see "Curves" in my workbench. I figured that "Tool" -> "AddOnManage"; then search for curves workbench and install.
Hello. How to make the grid permanent in a sketch? When creating a new sketch, it has to be turned on again.
In custom preferences I think.
@@OffsetCAD Thanks for the video!!!
Very interessant. Thanks!
I'm loving FreeCad 1.0. Thanks for the video
Very nice, thank you.
Woah, what have I been doing. I have STRUGGLED with Sketchup 2017 to make more specific and complex designs....I now see I was utterly wrong and CAD is where it's at.
Hi. I'm using 1.0.0 RC2 version and it seems like no more icon for constraint point onto object like you did. Do you know why? and is there any work through? Thanks
Hey! See the part 2 of the video. It's another design video using the version you mentioned (FreeCAD 1.0 RC2).
@@OffsetCAD Thank you
Very good work flow, although from a fabrication perspective , I wonder why you did not use the sheet metal wb?
For this particular model, I seen the PartDesign workbench would be more fast for designing the model.
This looks like a bent sheet part. I’ve been struggling thickness operation a lot. Basically if things like fillets would disappear after applying the thickness it breaks the model. Say you have a 2 mm fillet, a 2 mm shell would mean the planes and the fillet are in the same line. I think this is limitation/bug of the underlying 3D library.
I think the reason is the incorrect use of Python 44.4% in FreeCAD is a lot and absurd I think FreeCAD need more C++ code if they continue to use Python for everything, the program will become unusable.
Serious?
@@OffsetCAD Yes, the situation is that bad. no one can deny that it's a great program and the programmers are working hard to improve it but python will not solve the problem, fusion 360 is more than 90% c++ and the other 10% are other languages just for the cloud and stuff like that
FreeCAD devs must improve this workbench, I took days trying to understand why the problem. I updated to the last Release Candidate to find the same tedious problem. I just give up trying to figure out. Now I'm waiting to test the model in the "stable" FreeCAD 1.0.
So this is a big setback. Python is a language that seems simple to me, that problems like these could arise in FreeCAD because of Python I did not expect.
I think it is fine to have more things in Python. Python adds immense flexibility to FreeCAD which isn't otherwise possible. A better solution, in terms of functionality & feasibility, would be to move heavy operations to C++ and only have APIs in python
Nice, thank you.
This specific part looks like the job for SheetMetal workbench.
I was wondering about that too... But considered that Sheet Metal is an external add-on, this was to show how to model a prototype without the add-on
Nice video but what if i wanted the model unfolded for cutting?
Thank you! If you want so, there's a feature available in SheetMetal workbench, unfold tool.
man if only prodesktop was this easy back in the day in 2003 I might have enjoyed doing CAD, this looks so fun an easy, great rapid prototyping tool.
Nice video thanks
Thank you too for watching.
Awesome! I loved it. Thanks
So glad!
I appreciate the format of this tutorial, as I was already familiar with SolidWorks going into FreeCAD and so this type of pacing helps provide a quick rundown of the functions in FreeCAD without overly long introductory sections or low info density. By knowing how I would model this in SolidWorks and watching how you model it in FreeCAD I can find the analogous functions.
Thank you!❤️❤️❤️
Amazing, 5 times slower and displaying the shortcuts would be great!
Yeah, I know it. Currently I can't properly use any program which shows the entered keyboard keys.
@@OffsetCADwhy not? This is a genuine technical question, not me trying to be pushy. I can't think of any reason that that sort of software shouldn't be working so I'm curious why you can't currently use them. (If you know that is. If they just don't seem to work for no clear reason then I'd be curious what software you've tried)
Regarding slowing the video down you should just be able to use the yt playback speed adjustment. It might make the audio sound bad but it'll do the job.
@@felixjohnson3874 that slower is not listenable. Many steps need to be shown more in detail, that s not just a question of framerate.
Genial, excelente calidad
how would the gearing work for a servo motor?
Brilliant content. Thanks a lot!
Glad you liked it!
Thank you !
You're welcome!
Amazing!
I do like the assembly workbench. I wonder how this performs in the dev builds as they have improved alot of general features over the RC2 buld.
I updated to v1.1dev I found new problems which I'm trying to fix.
Thank you
Great. Thank you very much 🙂
