Freedom from the human pattern is a literal unmaking, back to primordial clay. If you love God and love God's works, you should spend your life learning to love the human pattern God made with his own hands. Escaping back to some alpha-state of infinite potentiality but zero actuality is a complete rejection of the God of creation.
This sort of prideful freedom I always think of as desiring to be free of the tyranny of gravity when it provides our atmosphere and the ability to act against it to walk instead of floating helpless (as if we'd live long enough) through space.
If we give our full will to God, this allows for the slow full death of the wrong pattern and the slow rebirth of His pattern for us. His pattern for us is the end of willful pattern in death. The liberty we all yearn for. Life with God is a full living liberty then beyond death. A total loss for a total gain. This formula cannot be explained but must be lived in the mystery. The mystery has no pattern but is simply and purely lived. It is the patternless pattern. One could stop living in Christ to try and define the pattern, but one would not. There is no reason to. It has already been done for us perfectly in the life of Christ. Glory to thee O God. Glory to thee.
In Milton's Paradise Lost Lucifer's agony was based on a loss of perspective. Seems like this terrific video gets to a similar conclusion. Thanks Jonathan.
@@joecast0659 It was my understanding that Lucifer, the Angel of Light and Music, had been very close to God. When Christ was born He was seated on God's right hand side, displacing Lucifer, and Lucifer became jealous. In his anger he fomented a rebellion and was subsequently cast out of Heaven. He tumbled end over end and when he landed on earth the sensation of tumbling never stopped. This 'tumbling' amounts to a loss of proper perspective in that Lucifer (now Satan) could never tell which way was 'up'/moral north. Schoenberg in one of his 12-tone pieces, despite all effort, couldn't entirely break from pattern. The tri-tone repeats more than once every 12 notes, which ironically ended up being a motif in the piece. Also, we can comfortably say: 200 years from now, people will surely be listening to Mozart and will surely not be listening to Schoenberg.
The question is not whether you believe in them or not. The question is, what do you believe or not believe in them for. To believe in God is to trust in his pattern of salvation that the Bible helps to reveal or conceal from you.

I have to say, I slightly disagree when it comes to music. Expressionism and 12 tone music are essentially patterns of their own. They stand apart compared to the other isms of 20th century music. Maybe you could say, and I would agree, that that music is inferior compared to romanticism, Baroque, etc. But I would also say that not anyone can write that music on the same level as Schoenberg. Now compared to John Cage, a lot of what Cage has composed, anyone can do. I think the only virtue of his is that he was the first to lay claim to his ideas (and probably not even the first, but the first to make himself famous). I do feel though that a lot of 20th century music has indeed become a pattern of anti-pattern. And for whatever reason, the top composers have not gone back to a more consonant base.
@Composer Jan-Peter de Jager when I say top composers, I mean the ones who are studying composition at music colleges. I won't speak for all of them, but the ivy league schools that I've seen are still producing programs that are primarily, or entirely atonal; and a lot of anti-pattern music.

Back to being monkeys, as perceived by the lens of modernity. Is that a fair response, or I am off the mark Mr. Bill?
God did not created this explicitly. Being free from the pattern is not going back is moving forward
It's like the saying, the exception proves the rule. Trying to move away from the pattern only proves the pattern even further.
