Its been many years but born & raised in Sacramento but I went to the Fair every year as a kid first with family from when it was in the old fairgrounds with brick buildings in Oak Park in the 1960's long before it moved to Cal Expo and later with friends nearly every year for over the next 20 years until I was in my mid 40's. I just started this video, and am disappointed not in the videography, Honda Nguyen filming is nicely done, but I miss the energy, sounds, & sites of the California State Fair, I remember because so much of what the fair meant to me is missing (or just no longer seems to exist in my state or country which for me is a terribly sad thought!!!) The California State Fair at least that I remember ...it had a variety of music coming from each of the rides, and live musicians of every genre and culture so there was something of and for everyone.... The performers young and old doing Cultually important Acrobatics, Dances, artforms that all could exprience to me at least that area of the fair said inclusion (and it really was)... act by act on the same stage you could see the culturally and hisotically significant performances of all the peoples that make up the Great Melting Pot that is California and my Country! When I was small I nerviously danced the dance Scottish Swords complete with kilts of my clan tartan on one of the same stages, that other young people and young would be performers and true artists of every age doing centuries old dances, acrobatics or juggling, playing instuments with Cultural and Historic significance from every continent Africa, Asia, Europe, Ireland, Latin America, Mexico Scotland, and so many more places! The atmosphere and energy that said this is the Joys of Summer and life in Northern California where you could run in to old friends you haven't seen in a long time or meet new ones, standing in line for the delicious food and the tasty sometimes artery clogging deep fried delicacies from everywhere in the world ... Watching this video I find myself thinking where are the people the parents with young children, adolescents with friends, adolescent couples on dates, young married couples on date night, where are the Hawkers, Pitchmen, handsome guys operating the rides, the Excitement, the Crowds were is the big bloody Golden California State Bear Statue? For $16 to get through the gate I expected the atmosphere, sights, and sounds that made it so I could almost smell or taste the food that made my mouth water before even arriving to standing in line to be admitted. I want to know what happened to our fair? I've livef close enough for 18 years, and I knew fair season had started just from the sound, that drifted into the surrounding neighborhood that to me spoke of joy, excitement, friendship, celebration of nightly closing fireworks...That said its Fair Season, but I hadn't hear any of that this year now I know why enough of my nostalgic 💔 I will go back & watching the rest of this video in the hopes that I can recognize something anything of the fair I remember, if I don't I'll grieve for yet and still another fabulous experience like $5 a car-load Drive-Ins, or Drive-Ins and that onr the more thing has been added to the growing ton of things the young of this & future generations will never know .😪 Thanks, Honda Nguyen it was beautifully filmed, and I'm sorry I to wrote such a depressing comment but I loved the California State Fair and like many of the wonderful places, events and experiences of my life I grieve their loss.😪😇✌💖🌹🙏 RIP

Is was way over 100 degrees that day (I was there). In the evening and on subsequent cooler days, there has been large crowds and for more activity-musical and every other. I have art in the art show and have been docenting there on many days.

Best thing to do is go on a Monday for general citizens. Tomorrow the 24th for example if you bring 5 canned goods between 11:00-3:00 you get in Free. Thursday is Military & First Responder day, so if you know someone let them know. For parking you park outside the grounds and walk in. Just have to hunt around for the deals
