The game doesnt even need to defend itself, it's the most popular gacha game full stop. The game is making top 3 at least with 2 filler patches in a row, the game has literally no problem marketing wise
We can still point out the hypocrisy in some accusations tho. And I'd gladly do that since genshin is my favourite gacha game in the moment. Some takes are very valid, some are just nitpicking and some of them are pure slander.

Genshin is fun at the beginning, but once your account progresses and you get to Minigame Impact where every time limited event feels like it was designed for children it just stops being as fun IMO
its a casual game, not supposed to be hard. I think they analyze the amount of people dropping the game when they increase the difficulty. There is a reason why they are not doing anymore "vagabond" so many people felt like the game was way too hard back then and probably a lot of people quit for not being able to finish it.
so pretty much genshin can make hard content, they just choose not to because they see that by lowering the difficulty they retain more players. Once they increase the difficulty people starts dropping the game.

I think there's also people who drop the game because they feel it's too easy or there's nothing to do, although most likely the largest amount of people dropping is just when the daily chores of spending resin and doing dailies become most of what you do in the game and it just feels repetitive and pointless

I Love how everyone is on the same page if we talk about the potential of Genshin.. It has potential thats for sure.. But its been 4 Years.. and they didnt do anything with.. now i just hope that Wuwa will take that potential and really make something of that

This game, after almost 4 years, still a raw gem. The amount of things possible with an open world game are pretty much limitless. The real problem, is the game director, which clearly refuses to improve its product.
For a game this old to still be the reference for newer ip's just shows that we love the game more than we think. Most Dev's are probably anticipating for it's player base to drop but the fans just keep giving more life to it through their hate/love for the game.

I stop playing Genshin when Inazuma came out. All of that buildup for a devastating war and how did it ended ? Talk-no-jutsu. I think that's when something came to me that this game just wasn't the rpg that i was expecting it to be and the story is gonna be your average mobile gacha. I played this on PC but holy, even back then they catered this game to mobile users
inazuma was bad compared to sumeru.. the story telling is way better in sumeru.. i dont know why tectone says its so bad. Sumeru even made me cry and calibert story was just insanely good.

As a guy who's been playing this game for 3 whole years. I think some of the criticisms are deserved like rewards and stuff. The main thing I criticise about this game will be how stingy they are. Because of their stinginess the whole drama took place. Other than that they need to implement some combat features such as locking on enemies like wuwa. Other than that I find the story to be good though. That's my motivation for playing this game for 3 whole years I'll say. Since they are improving now things might get better.

I enjoy Genshin, tho the game can definitely improve a lot still... for example the character stories are mostly mediocre at best (the story writing for the main archon quest did improve in recent years when we ignore half the Meropide Quest tho), but the community... you are totally right about them, 100%!
good vid, it is easy for anyone who is fed up with genshin but still wants to play it, just play the story + the new contecnt in the first 2-3 days, and wait till the last day of events to complete them in 1 go (ofc if u care enougth to open the gme once a week) but for real now, i think that the prob with genshin is coming from the producer himself, the producer of hi3 and star rail is the same, and we see the direction of those 2 games, implementing a lot of the things we want as fast as they can, the direction is the prob, i doubt that hoyo is not aware of the things we want, but maybe we will see some big improvements in natlan coz tbh in fountain, they did improve a lot (lighting, graphics, exploration, story telling, and a lot of qof features) i hope it gets expanded on in natlan.

Light spender.. I kinda feel crushed in the gacha system. You know you need 7 of the same 5 star to max out their constellations. Well I lost six 50 50s and won 50 50 once on my c6 itto r2. Absolutely demoralizing. Right now I have 94k primogems and 78 limited fates. Before the 5.0 live stream in my mind I absolutely do not recommend this game to anyone. And now it is a maybe after the live stream
I certainly do hope for more competition in the gacha space to happen. Genshin will only become better when the competition shows them how ancient they have become with only the lore/characters and story keeping it together. I absolutely love HSR and grew to like ZZZ a bit more but Genshin feels so old now.
Good points. The game has its flaws and there are some things that they certainly could've done better... ...but "very very easy to be added" is a biit unfair to say no? Unless you've worked on a similar AAA project before. Genshin is a lot of things, but to develop and maintain the game is anything but easy. This is a point that is overlooked by many, including its competitors. They focused too much on what Genshin *should be* , that they forgot what Genshin *is* . An extremely polished game. I believe the optimisation state of its competitors is a great testament to this point.

@@vr4893 optimize the team selection tab especially the loading that it takes ( this one isn't super easy but it doesn't take 4 years) artifact loadouts is way easier to make than you think Treat the difficulty in a better way than just HP sponges fix the weapon banner and make it like hsr better artifact system with adding something that guarantees like the self modeling resin in hsr Talent domains STILL requires different days to be farmed which is stupid instead of being forced to play the game everyday to get 60 primogem , we make the dailies in a form of weeklies that gives 350 primos a form of repeatable content that does have a challenge and requires you to understand what you do just like holograms while not having an insane amount of rewards , and there is advanced things that aren't super easy but can take less than a year like more reasons to play co op other than artifact farming this is just what i thought about now but there is way more
@@stioorg while i do have some basic understanding myself, it would seems that you're more capable at this than me (I wouldn't be able to integrate an artifact loadout system for example). So those are some really good information to know. Nevertheless, it is important to note that they also need to develop each QoL for three different platforms and make them available for crossplay. That by itself already adds a lot of layers such as limitations of each platform, interpretation of network packaging, etc. They will have different teams for that of course, but the fact that people expect them to do all that while keeping up the usual bug fixes, other QoL updates, and events *under* a 6-week schedule just seems hellish to me. ...also, they need to work on the minor and major region updates. Gosh. Oh also, some of those are just game designs, and lets not forget that some bosses have their own gimmicks (hypostasises for example, they've been there since 1.0, and is arguably not a simple "hp sponge") I still think that they could've done better (especially if all those QoLs listed above are really "that easy" to add), but lets not undermine the complexity of developing and maintaining the game as a whole.
@@stioorg oh btw there's a lot of co-op events actually...but none are combat-based, and for a good reason. Back around 1.0 - 1.2, co-op events were practically mandatory... ...and it was a lot of fun, ngl. Until it turns out that there's a significant portion of the players that simply isn't fortunate enough to play on a good device/internet. As we all know, team building in genshin is a very integral part of its combat. This leads to an increasing toxicity towards those unfortunate few when they "screw up". Thus, they removed it all together.
I got tired of it. The game gave me spending trauma, I spent way too much and now am much more conscious about my spending. it’s good for what it is. It really benefitted me quitting several years ago. It allowed me time to just not touch another gacha again for a long time. I never got into HSR for that reason and kinda just turned off of hoyo gachas due to being one of those unlucky people who NEVER gets lucky. And when I get lucky it’s in unlucky ways. Like some of the odds that happen to me in probability you would laugh at how often I literally just stay away from luck based things. Listing a few examples in the last 3-4 months, played monopoly online with friends, I didn’t get a property till my 3rd round (miracle odds.) tried playing risk proceeded to never win any Dice rolls over the course of the whole game. Just recently on Wuwa I’ve had the 70% odds of the event thing about 10-15 times, and I still fail those odds. So far at 4/4 50/50 losses in Wuwa, when I played genshin my weapon banner win rate was about 10 percent (full pitied for a few weapons, and a salty owner of 6 wolves gravestones), I had a ton of unused weapons. Not to mention my 50/50 win rate in Genshin being like 20% rate (every character up till shenhe for sample size) last thing is gonna say is I tried Nikke and didn’t get an ssr until about 130 pulls. So uuh overall I’m lucky in an unlucky way. These are just standout things generally it’s like this normally and when I get average odds it’s considered lucky to me. So yeah I’m done ranting.
i spent way too much in start of the game as well.. i completely abandoned my main and made a f2p account where i couldnt spend a single dollar.. had way more fun on that account than on main.. just knowing i spent so much on my main i felt physically hurt that whole month until next paycheck. Now i dont spend at all.
@@dubstepforever99 I wasn’t bored because of having all the characters I just got bored of the game and actively recognized it was unhealthy for me, but when I quit I strangely just didn’t regret it. Now I occasionally regret it but never enough to try to play the game any longer than an hour if I reinstall it. After playing other gachas and games to me genshin just wasn’t good enough, it didn’t stand the test of time. For open world it lacks, for combat I personally feel it lacks, and lastly its story is in my humble opinion also lacking. So i just don’t Find it as a good a game anymore it’s really a shame.

I played genshin for 3 years almost every day. When wuwa launched I haven't longed into genshin for 3 months lmao. Genshin having that horrid weapon banner with the epitomized shit that doesn't even transfer to the next weapon banner made me not pull for any 5* star weapons, meanwhile in wuwa you just need 80 pulls straight up, no 50/50 or any bullcrap you can only pull the limited weapon and that's it. The game is 3 months old and I have five 5star weapons. Imma be chillin in wuwa and hsr while genshin "figures out" its shit together, if it doesn't, well it was fun while it lasted.
Genshin is pretty much locked in to its current formula at this point. What I'm more curious about is what happens when we finish "Teyvat Chapter" (Natlan -> Snezhnaya -> Khaenri'ah). Do they keep tacking on more filler like an anime that should have ended several seasons ago since it's still making money? Do they just leave the servers up but stop adding new content? Endless minigame simulator? End of Service? If there is another chapter after Teyvat chapter, I honestly hope that it ends up being Genshin Impact 2 instead of a continuation of Genshin Impact; rebuild the engine from the ground up, maybe rework the reaction system, and get people (especially whales) to dump a bunch of money on a new game buying characters all over again even if they end up reusing a lot of the old fan-favourite characters.
Here's some actual bad things about the gameplay: - The combat is limiting, it gets boring quickly. Your options are only basic, charged, skill, & ultimate. No alternate in-between to create a new string, like in Dynasty Warriors, for example. (Aerial might as well not exist.) - The element system is a bad solution for the problem above. It's fun the first time seeing enemies freeze when it's raining, but that's it. It's super imbalanced, and it spawns other problems. - My favorite part of the game, exploration, impacted the most. It's so frustrating having to constantly switch parties because you have no required element unit to solve a puzzle. Especially when your only option is Traveler and you need to switch elements. - There's no right party structure. Exploration requires you to have all six elements, but only four can be deployed. The game didn't encourage you to deploy a four-element team, btw. They want you to form only two even single-element for special battle buff. And pray that the party you can form has a sword or claymore unit, because mining without them is painful. - All the problems above can be solved with gacha, of course. If you want to spice up combat with aerial attacks, or faster exploration, or right units to fill your party needs that are not bow or catalyst users, there are answers locked behind gacha. Good luck getting them, though; there are only limited and standard banners. Deny it all you want, it's pay-to-win game or at least pay-for-convenience. This is strictly gameplay, excluding story and off-game sides like file size. Note: I'm AR50+ with 100% Mondstadt, Dragonspine, Liyue, Chasm and about 70% Inazuma.

I have a theory called open world gacha dilemma : Every game that has open world betrays the gacha formula genshin bit more, ww but less but this is something that all future games will face. Theory: Gacha games are centred on menu base and story, events are dirt easy while the endgame modes are hard.... But this doesn't transition to open world well. Let's us assume the open world is the story part akin to menu based gacha...usually traditional gacha players maw down the story & event if his account ready for endgame but don't mind it that much. But in open world games this feels way worse then they start to consider it a filler content and defeats the whole purpose of open world. Gacha and open world can never mix... If want to enjoy you have to let go of typical gacha mindset.
The game isn't the issue, It's the devs. Now that there's competition and the fact that other hoyoverse games are better rewards-wise, they go no more excuse. It was the genshin's developers choice to not add real endgame, not so fair rewards and continue with the horrible rng of artifacts. It's getting impossible to defend them at this point.
Genshin had a decent run and stagnated purely due to lack of competition. Now that the consumers market has Wuthering Waves in the mix with decent amount of responsiveness from the devs, its only fair the existing hatewagon would multiply. Watch one Wuthering Waves guide, and you'll end up with 10x "Why I quit Genshin for Wuthering Waves" vids. All in all, some have solid pointers about Genshin's plummeting directions, which had a pretty long timespan to improve (2020 - 2024) but did not.
Genshin don't want to add those QOL early coz they need to set the Threshold so their other games can have it and expand the community on it gaining more revenue in rhe process of those expansions through Pseudo-tribalism. It's an effective Business strategy when you have different products. it's a pretty obvious strat and its normally done in CN companies.

well, seeing criticism is good and mandatory. but pure hate? no. if we need something real, then it is simple. hate is, overall, not a good thing. the only good about hate is it give us signal of feelings negative, not to be lashed to another people. and tbf, there are a lot of people who just want to hate. that is something that i don't like, be it on genshin or anything else, really. you could say that i generally loves constructive criticism but seriously despise hateful-talk. if people want to give critics, just do it like a normal person. they do not need to call out for others who just trying to enjoy the game, or praise the game. everyone entitled to their own opinion.
Basically it's mainly a story based game so if you enjoy story then definitely play it. If not then stay the hell away from this game and especially its community

I still believe to this day that the reason "why Genshin doesn't do this" or "why Genshin doesn't do that," while their newer/other games can, is not because the Genshin developers don't want to, but because "Hoyo" as a company wants their newer or other games to feel better than their most popular game. Genshin is their most popular game, no one denying that. This game is already well-established, and even if they wanted to kill it intentionally, they literally can’t do that without damaging their other titles (because the fans are really that fanatic about this game). With Genshin popularity, they want to recreate that popularity & fame again with their other titles, especially with their magnum opus "Honkai Series". That’s why, when people praised HSR and started comparing/shitting on Genshin back then, Hoyo didn’t do anything to at least copy something good from HSR to Genshin. They literally ignored Genshin fans complaints for more than a year until finally Wuwa came out, AND THEN they finally start to Fix Genshin and add features that HSR had (and those fixes are still not that good compare to what HSR had). Im not saying this is 100% the real reason, I could still be wrong. but this is what I believe even to this day.

It feels a bit like Hoyo rather invests their resources into HSR and ZZZ for the time being. And I honestly couldn't think of a way how they could save Genshin from one patch to another without absolutely overhauling the Elemental system and reworking some of their characters (which would cause immense trouble across the playerbase). I'm pretty sure they'll stick to their course, add some QoL changes over time but the core issues will stay the same.

Genshin is a good game if you put some distance between you and it. It's fun when grinding for a character but logging in e ery day gets old fast when there's nothing to do. And all of Hoyo's games are like that.
New players please just get crystcals with 4 stars and just pull on on 5 stars. Please just don't worry about events you have to have higher levels as there be events you can get crystal without having them. Please look up guides or youtube videos when you need help. Remember to level up attacks of the characters. 😅 this is from someone that been forcus on game this month in hopes of getting riden when she is next on banner. I still have a lot to learn and enjoy ice, water and fire with some great thunder characters. Being a new player sucks but keep going if you want to.....it the only main game I am playing.

Hard to disagree - I've been playing Genshin for 2.5 years and I will say, this game is actually great. It's not perfect - waiting for QOL updates in Genshin has become a running joke, but with WuWa, HSR and ZZZ leading the way in that regard, Genshin can get better (and it is). But the world, the music, the characters, it's all really incredible. And the game is FREE. There is no content you ever need to pay for. NOTE: you can choose to spend money for your favorite characters, weapons, etc., but none of the updates, games, patches, etc. are paid for... you just download the update and it's yours. You gotta give credit where credit is due.
and the longer you wait before getting into genshin the more content is at your fingertips.. i would be so happy if i could be able to play multiple regions when i first started the game and was in the hype phase.. then many months of drought and you just slowly wither away waiting for content. For a new player the amount of content you can do now though is insane, you can spend hundreds of hours and still not be done with the game.. all for free if you choose to.

And sometimes I wonder if gacha is a part of why it's a good game, because of how much money hoyo makes that they have enough money to make these character demo videos, story quest videos, animations, voice actors etc. But yeah gacha part is shit, I wish the characters would be locked behind a set amount of primogems and they get a discount the more old and powercreep they get.
I love Genshin impact, but I can admit that has some big problems me personally I don’t really care about the difficulty since I played other games but I can understand what people are coming from I do agree with people they should have more difficult bosses and stuff like that in the game and the community is horrible but also that the people hating the game is also horrible like in my opinion you shouldn’t be calling someone to loser because they like Genshin storyline I see that way too many times in my opinion but also that people do have a right to dislike the community since the community you know is really cringe and horrible for me the game itself is pretty good. there no point in doing dallies in gacha games. you play through the entire story, go through map, beat the non existent end game and you take a break for a few weeks or month and then come back when game updated. you play single player jrps or other gacha games or go play elden ring but if working nobody got time for that

Genshin Impact is a single player f2p game, meaning is design to log daily BUT the content in question is limited on how far the player progress, that content is good but once you do all, only you have the endgame, well can be fun at the start, once you get constantly 36 starts, it gets repetitive, specially floors 9 to 11 because are to easy, and 12 can be painfull for the worng reasons. I stopped played for 6 months and come back fo Natlan (I missed Furina twice aaaaaaa) and the content I have not complete is there (except temp events) and they are fun to play, the new endgame, the theater, sucks asssss. Btw, funny how you say story is terrible when you stopped to the low point of that, Inazuma, since Sumeru, it was much better in that department, not perfect by any means, but they make such great ones like in the end of Fontaine.

Genshin is a great game. The problem is that it's not what a lots of people wants it to be. It is a casual game, where a new area comes out, you play the content, explore the new area, and then put the game down until the next patch comes out. BUt this is not what a lots of the hardcore players wanted, and they started a pretty obvious hate campaign. Looking at you Mttashed, and Tectone. I find their behaviour very shitty, because they give a pass for Wuwa for the same mistakes GEnshin makes. LIke they were criticizing Genshin for the artifact system, while Wuwa's echo system is no better either. They were also talking about Genshin players as mint pickers. While more than half of the 1.1 Wuwa patch was very dry, and there was literally nothing to do. (for people who already built their characters, defeated the hologram, did Toa, and Illusive realm) They criticize Genshin for not having difficult combat events. Wuwa doesn't have them either. Wuwa has the same problems Genshin has, since it has the same formula, but people give it a pass on them, just because it's fashionable to shit on Genshin.

story is good and its getting better from when it started, it has tons of exploration content and open world puzzles. Lots of different reactions and nothing feels better than making a team that synergize insanely well. Game isn't hard, but it is a great game to relax to, you can get home from work and just turn off your brain. Every game doesn't need to be extremely hard, genshin isn't that game so if that is what you expect or is expecting in the future not the game for you. Game is a lot better than tons of triple AAA games and you can easiely clear the content without spending a dollar.. you have hundreds of hours completely free at your fingertips.

Genshin being good yet not living up to its potential is why I really fell in love with wuwa. Wuwa gave me everything I wanted from genshin, and most of the improvements. I loved genshin. At its 1.0 release, it had massive potential. It had a lot of issues, but we all thought that with time it would just be improved and the issues fixed. Dragonspine rolled around, and I had an absolute blast. The region was the best so far and the dragonspine story was great. Then the event ended and the story disappeared. The improvements I had been waiting for? Nope, too bad.
Yeah this game is now actually good game since there are now tons of QoL, and a lot of contents right now. I do think new players will have fun with this game and very recommended to be played, however some people are just too ignorant that people will listens to veteran or retired genshin players like me rant about problems of this game when majority of those problems are already solved or they just listened to those boycotters, let's just say I will not go back to this game, because i felt like this game did treated me bad which is kinda true at my end but yeah doesn't mean they always have to listened to me, what I'm trying to say is try it out for yourself.
the game is good for what it is, a fun exploration/team building/story driven rpg. If you don't like the main story and just skips trough it or thinks the game is too easy and waiting for really challenging endgame, the game might not be for you. This is a casual game and if you don't like that, might as well quit the game, for what you are waiting for is never coming. Now if you do like the story, the exploration and the casual combats in between and the team building/reactions you will really enjoy genshin. If you been playing for years go take a break and come back in a year or a few years and the game will have tons of new content, don't just keep logging in every single day until you can barely login anymore from exhaustion.
Probably the most disappointing game I've ever played. Is it a bad game? No. It's just every part of it that is done well has serious down sides or could have done much better. The world is beautiful but so static and empty, not to mention that the npcs got 0 thoughts put into their design like they don't matter at all. The soundtracks are pretty good, but HV always save the best for the trailers and never use it in the game. The gameplay is smooth and good enough, but the enemies are designed and tuned like players are babies and don't know how to play the game. Even after 4 years, the hardest enemies to fight are still the ones that flee from you, not the one that actually fight you or have any interesting mechanics. The story... the plot is decent but it is let down by horrible story telling and pacing. Paimon speaks for you... Hours and hours of very static and lifeless dialogue scenes with horrible sound design, janky af animation, and nonexistent bg ost to set the mood and tone of the conversation. The characters are pretty good, but I wouldn't say GI is doing it any better than other premium gachas (pretty much no one after Yelan caught my eyes tbh). It just your preference when it comes to this. Gacha system (It is important because it's a gacha game!!!) is extremely unrewarding... yeah there's no up side to this one. It is hands down the worst gacha system in any premium gachas. And don't even mention the gear system... it's borderlined a crime against humanity.

its a casual game, not supposed to be hard. I think they analyze the amount of people dropping the game when they increase the difficulty. There is a reason why they are not doing anymore "vagabond" so many people felt like the game was way too hard back then and probably a lot of people quit for not being able to finish it.
so pretty much genshin can make hard content, they just choose not to because they see that by lowering the difficulty they retain more players. Once they increase the difficulty people starts dropping the game.

This game, after almost 4 years, still a raw gem. The amount of things possible with an open world game are pretty much limitless. The real problem, is the game director, which clearly refuses to improve its product.
For a game this old to still be the reference for newer ip's just shows that we love the game more than we think. Most Dev's are probably anticipating for it's player base to drop but the fans just keep giving more life to it through their hate/love for the game.
It's not bad for a mobile game that's for sure. We just got over it.

I stop playing Genshin when Inazuma came out. All of that buildup for a devastating war and how did it ended ? Talk-no-jutsu. I think that's when something came to me that this game just wasn't the rpg that i was expecting it to be and the story is gonna be your average mobile gacha. I played this on PC but holy, even back then they catered this game to mobile users
inazuma was bad compared to sumeru.. the story telling is way better in sumeru.. i dont know why tectone says its so bad. Sumeru even made me cry and calibert story was just insanely good.

As a guy who's been playing this game for 3 whole years. I think some of the criticisms are deserved like rewards and stuff. The main thing I criticise about this game will be how stingy they are. Because of their stinginess the whole drama took place. Other than that they need to implement some combat features such as locking on enemies like wuwa. Other than that I find the story to be good though. That's my motivation for playing this game for 3 whole years I'll say. Since they are improving now things might get better.

I enjoy Genshin, tho the game can definitely improve a lot still... for example the character stories are mostly mediocre at best (the story writing for the main archon quest did improve in recent years when we ignore half the Meropide Quest tho), but the community... you are totally right about them, 100%!

but for real now, i think that the prob with genshin is coming from the producer himself, the producer of hi3 and star rail is the same, and we see the direction of those 2 games, implementing a lot of the things we want as fast as they can, the direction is the prob, i doubt that hoyo is not aware of the things we want, but maybe we will see some big improvements in natlan coz tbh in fountain, they did improve a lot (lighting, graphics, exploration, story telling, and a lot of qof features) i hope it gets expanded on in natlan.

I certainly do hope for more competition in the gacha space to happen. Genshin will only become better when the competition shows them how ancient they have become with only the lore/characters and story keeping it together. I absolutely love HSR and grew to like ZZZ a bit more but Genshin feels so old now.

Unless you've worked on a similar AAA project before. Genshin is a lot of things, but to develop and maintain the game is anything but easy.
This is a point that is overlooked by many, including its competitors. They focused too much on what Genshin *should be* , that they forgot what Genshin *is* .

Talent domains STILL requires different days to be farmed which is stupid
instead of being forced to play the game everyday to get 60 primogem , we make the dailies in a form of weeklies that gives 350 primos
a form of repeatable content that does have a challenge and requires you to understand what you do just like holograms while not having an insane amount of rewards
, and there is advanced things that aren't super easy but can take less than a year
like more reasons to play co op other than artifact farming

@@stioorg while i do have some basic understanding myself, it would seems that you're more capable at this than me (I wouldn't be able to integrate an artifact loadout system for example). So those are some really good information to know.
Nevertheless, it is important to note that they also need to develop each QoL for three different platforms and make them available for crossplay. That by itself already adds a lot of layers such as limitations of each platform, interpretation of network packaging, etc.
They will have different teams for that of course, but the fact that people expect them to do all that while keeping up the usual bug fixes, other QoL updates, and events *under* a 6-week schedule just seems hellish to me.
...also, they need to work on the minor and major region updates. Gosh.
Oh also, some of those are just game designs, and lets not forget that some bosses have their own gimmicks (hypostasises for example, they've been there since 1.0, and is arguably not a simple "hp sponge")
I still think that they could've done better (especially if all those QoLs listed above are really "that easy" to add), but lets not undermine the complexity of developing and maintaining the game as a whole.

As we all know, team building in genshin is a very integral part of its combat. This leads to an increasing toxicity towards those unfortunate few when they "screw up".
Thus, they removed it all together.
I got tired of it. The game gave me spending trauma, I spent way too much and now am much more conscious about my spending. it’s good for what it is. It really benefitted me quitting several years ago. It allowed me time to just not touch another gacha again for a long time. I never got into HSR for that reason and kinda just turned off of hoyo gachas due to being one of those unlucky people who NEVER gets lucky. And when I get lucky it’s in unlucky ways. Like some of the odds that happen to me in probability you would laugh at how often I literally just stay away from luck based things. Listing a few examples in the last 3-4 months, played monopoly online with friends, I didn’t get a property till my 3rd round (miracle odds.) tried playing risk proceeded to never win any Dice rolls over the course of the whole game. Just recently on Wuwa I’ve had the 70% odds of the event thing about 10-15 times, and I still fail those odds. So far at 4/4 50/50 losses in Wuwa, when I played genshin my weapon banner win rate was about 10 percent (full pitied for a few weapons, and a salty owner of 6 wolves gravestones), I had a ton of unused weapons. Not to mention my 50/50 win rate in Genshin being like 20% rate (every character up till shenhe for sample size) last thing is gonna say is I tried Nikke and didn’t get an ssr until about 130 pulls. So uuh overall I’m lucky in an unlucky way. These are just standout things generally it’s like this normally and when I get average odds it’s considered lucky to me. So yeah I’m done ranting.
i spent way too much in start of the game as well.. i completely abandoned my main and made a f2p account where i couldnt spend a single dollar.. had way more fun on that account than on main.. just knowing i spent so much on my main i felt physically hurt that whole month until next paycheck. Now i dont spend at all.

Now I occasionally regret it but never enough to try to play the game any longer than an hour if I reinstall it. After playing other gachas and games to me genshin just wasn’t good enough, it didn’t stand the test of time. For open world it lacks, for combat I personally feel it lacks, and lastly its story is in my humble opinion also lacking. So i just don’t Find it as a good a game anymore it’s really a shame.

Genshin having that horrid weapon banner with the epitomized shit that doesn't even transfer to the next weapon banner made me not pull for any 5* star weapons, meanwhile in wuwa you just need 80 pulls straight up, no 50/50 or any bullcrap you can only pull the limited weapon and that's it. The game is 3 months old and I have five 5star weapons. Imma be chillin in wuwa and hsr while genshin "figures out" its shit together, if it doesn't, well it was fun while it lasted.
Genshin is pretty much locked in to its current formula at this point. What I'm more curious about is what happens when we finish "Teyvat Chapter" (Natlan -> Snezhnaya -> Khaenri'ah). Do they keep tacking on more filler like an anime that should have ended several seasons ago since it's still making money? Do they just leave the servers up but stop adding new content? Endless minigame simulator? End of Service? If there is another chapter after Teyvat chapter, I honestly hope that it ends up being Genshin Impact 2 instead of a continuation of Genshin Impact; rebuild the engine from the ground up, maybe rework the reaction system, and get people (especially whales) to dump a bunch of money on a new game buying characters all over again even if they end up reusing a lot of the old fan-favourite characters.
Here's some actual bad things about the gameplay:
- The combat is limiting, it gets boring quickly. Your options are only basic, charged, skill, & ultimate. No alternate in-between to create a new string, like in Dynasty Warriors, for example. (Aerial might as well not exist.)
- The element system is a bad solution for the problem above. It's fun the first time seeing enemies freeze when it's raining, but that's it. It's super imbalanced, and it spawns other problems.
- My favorite part of the game, exploration, impacted the most. It's so frustrating having to constantly switch parties because you have no required element unit to solve a puzzle. Especially when your only option is Traveler and you need to switch elements.
- There's no right party structure. Exploration requires you to have all six elements, but only four can be deployed. The game didn't encourage you to deploy a four-element team, btw. They want you to form only two even single-element for special battle buff. And pray that the party you can form has a sword or claymore unit, because mining without them is painful.
- All the problems above can be solved with gacha, of course. If you want to spice up combat with aerial attacks, or faster exploration, or right units to fill your party needs that are not bow or catalyst users, there are answers locked behind gacha. Good luck getting them, though; there are only limited and standard banners. Deny it all you want, it's pay-to-win game or at least pay-for-convenience.
This is strictly gameplay, excluding story and off-game sides like file size.
Note: I'm AR50+ with 100% Mondstadt, Dragonspine, Liyue, Chasm and about 70% Inazuma.

I have a theory called open world gacha dilemma : Every game that has open world betrays the gacha formula genshin bit more, ww but less but this is something that all future games will face.
Theory: Gacha games are centred on menu base and story, events are dirt easy while the endgame modes are hard.... But this doesn't transition to open world well.
Let's us assume the open world is the story part akin to menu based gacha...usually traditional gacha players maw down the story & event if his account ready for endgame but don't mind it that much.
But in open world games this feels way worse then they start to consider it a filler content and defeats the whole purpose of open world.
Gacha and open world can never mix... If want to enjoy you have to let go of typical gacha mindset.
The game isn't the issue, It's the devs. Now that there's competition and the fact that other hoyoverse games are better rewards-wise, they go no more excuse. It was the genshin's developers choice to not add real endgame, not so fair rewards and continue with the horrible rng of artifacts. It's getting impossible to defend them at this point.
Genshin had a decent run and stagnated purely due to lack of competition.
Now that the consumers market has Wuthering Waves in the mix with decent amount of responsiveness from the devs, its only fair the existing hatewagon would multiply.

All in all, some have solid pointers about Genshin's plummeting directions, which had a pretty long timespan to improve (2020 - 2024) but did not.

I still believe to this day that the reason "why Genshin doesn't do this" or "why Genshin doesn't do that," while their newer/other games can, is not because the Genshin developers don't want to, but because "Hoyo" as a company wants their newer or other games to feel better than their most popular game.
Genshin is their most popular game, no one denying that. This game is already well-established, and even if they wanted to kill it intentionally, they literally can’t do that without damaging their other titles (because the fans are really that fanatic about this game).
With Genshin popularity, they want to recreate that popularity & fame again with their other titles, especially with their magnum opus "Honkai Series". That’s why, when people praised HSR and started comparing/shitting on Genshin back then, Hoyo didn’t do anything to at least copy something good from HSR to Genshin. They literally ignored Genshin fans complaints for more than a year until finally Wuwa came out, AND THEN they finally start to Fix Genshin and add features that HSR had (and those fixes are still not that good compare to what HSR had).
Im not saying this is 100% the real reason, I could still be wrong. but this is what I believe even to this day.

And I honestly couldn't think of a way how they could save Genshin from one patch to another without absolutely overhauling the Elemental system and reworking some of their characters (which would cause immense trouble across the playerbase).
I'm pretty sure they'll stick to their course, add some QoL changes over time but the core issues will stay the same.

Genshin is a good game if you put some distance between you and it. It's fun when grinding for a character but logging in e ery day gets old fast when there's nothing to do. And all of Hoyo's games are like that.
New players please just get crystcals with 4 stars and just pull on on 5 stars. Please just don't worry about events you have to have higher levels as there be events you can get crystal without having them. Please look up guides or youtube videos when you need help. Remember to level up attacks of the characters. 😅 this is from someone that been forcus on game this month in hopes of getting riden when she is next on banner. I still have a lot to learn and enjoy ice, water and fire with some great thunder characters. Being a new player sucks but keep going if you want to.....it the only main game I am playing.

Hard to disagree - I've been playing Genshin for 2.5 years and I will say, this game is actually great. It's not perfect - waiting for QOL updates in Genshin has become a running joke, but with WuWa, HSR and ZZZ leading the way in that regard, Genshin can get better (and it is). But the world, the music, the characters, it's all really incredible. And the game is FREE. There is no content you ever need to pay for. NOTE: you can choose to spend money for your favorite characters, weapons, etc., but none of the updates, games, patches, etc. are paid for... you just download the update and it's yours. You gotta give credit where credit is due.
and the longer you wait before getting into genshin the more content is at your fingertips.. i would be so happy if i could be able to play multiple regions when i first started the game and was in the hype phase.. then many months of drought and you just slowly wither away waiting for content. For a new player the amount of content you can do now though is insane, you can spend hundreds of hours and still not be done with the game.. all for free if you choose to.

Hating genshin is the meta to get money......hip and trendy and I don't even play any hoyo games.... That's the way internet works.
The only problem I see with Genshin is the Gacha system, other than that it's a pretty good fucking game. And sometimes I wonder if gacha is a part of why it's a good game, because of how much money hoyo makes that they have enough money to make these character demo videos, story quest videos, animations, voice actors etc.
But yeah gacha part is shit, I wish the characters would be locked behind a set amount of primogems and they get a discount the more old and powercreep they get.

there no point in doing dallies in gacha games. you play through the entire story, go through map, beat the non existent end game and you take a break for a few weeks or month and then come back when game updated. you play single player jrps or other gacha games or go play elden ring but if working nobody got time for that

Genshin Impact is a single player f2p game, meaning is design to log daily BUT the content in question is limited on how far the player progress, that content is good but once you do all, only you have the endgame, well can be fun at the start, once you get constantly 36 starts, it gets repetitive, specially floors 9 to 11 because are to easy, and 12 can be painfull for the worng reasons. I stopped played for 6 months and come back fo Natlan (I missed Furina twice aaaaaaa) and the content I have not complete is there (except temp events) and they are fun to play, the new endgame, the theater, sucks asssss.
Btw, funny how you say story is terrible when you stopped to the low point of that, Inazuma, since Sumeru, it was much better in that department, not perfect by any means, but they make such great ones like in the end of Fontaine.

Genshin is a great game. The problem is that it's not what a lots of people wants it to be.
It is a casual game, where a new area comes out, you play the content, explore the new area, and then put the game down until the next patch comes out. BUt this is not what a lots of the hardcore players wanted, and they started a pretty obvious hate campaign. Looking at you Mttashed, and Tectone.
I find their behaviour very shitty, because they give a pass for Wuwa for the same mistakes GEnshin makes. LIke they were criticizing Genshin for the artifact system, while Wuwa's echo system is no better either. They were also talking about Genshin players as mint pickers. While more than half of the 1.1 Wuwa patch was very dry, and there was literally nothing to do. (for people who already built their characters, defeated the hologram, did Toa, and Illusive realm)
They criticize Genshin for not having difficult combat events. Wuwa doesn't have them either.
Wuwa has the same problems Genshin has, since it has the same formula, but people give it a pass on them, just because it's fashionable to shit on Genshin.

story is good and its getting better from when it started, it has tons of exploration content and open world puzzles. Lots of different reactions and nothing feels better than making a team that synergize insanely well. Game isn't hard, but it is a great game to relax to, you can get home from work and just turn off your brain. Every game doesn't need to be extremely hard, genshin isn't that game so if that is what you expect or is expecting in the future not the game for you. Game is a lot better than tons of triple AAA games and you can easiely clear the content without spending a dollar.. you have hundreds of hours completely free at your fingertips.

Genshin being good yet not living up to its potential is why I really fell in love with wuwa. Wuwa gave me everything I wanted from genshin, and most of the improvements. I loved genshin. At its 1.0 release, it had massive potential. It had a lot of issues, but we all thought that with time it would just be improved and the issues fixed. Dragonspine rolled around, and I had an absolute blast. The region was the best so far and the dragonspine story was great. Then the event ended and the story disappeared. The improvements I had been waiting for? Nope, too bad.
Yeah this game is now actually good game since there are now tons of QoL, and a lot of contents right now. I do think new players will have fun with this game and very recommended to be played, however some people are just too ignorant that people will listens to veteran or retired genshin players like me rant about problems of this game when majority of those problems are already solved or they just listened to those boycotters, let's just say I will not go back to this game, because i felt like this game did treated me bad which is kinda true at my end but yeah doesn't mean they always have to listened to me, what I'm trying to say is try it out for yourself.

the game is good for what it is, a fun exploration/team building/story driven rpg. If you don't like the main story and just skips trough it or thinks the game is too easy and waiting for really challenging endgame, the game might not be for you. This is a casual game and if you don't like that, might as well quit the game, for what you are waiting for is never coming. Now if you do like the story, the exploration and the casual combats in between and the team building/reactions you will really enjoy genshin. If you been playing for years go take a break and come back in a year or a few years and the game will have tons of new content, don't just keep logging in every single day until you can barely login anymore from exhaustion.

Probably the most disappointing game I've ever played. Is it a bad game? No. It's just every part of it that is done well has serious down sides or could have done much better. The world is beautiful but so static and empty, not to mention that the npcs got 0 thoughts put into their design like they don't matter at all. The soundtracks are pretty good, but HV always save the best for the trailers and never use it in the game. The gameplay is smooth and good enough, but the enemies are designed and tuned like players are babies and don't know how to play the game. Even after 4 years, the hardest enemies to fight are still the ones that flee from you, not the one that actually fight you or have any interesting mechanics. The story... the plot is decent but it is let down by horrible story telling and pacing. Paimon speaks for you... Hours and hours of very static and lifeless dialogue scenes with horrible sound design, janky af animation, and nonexistent bg ost to set the mood and tone of the conversation. The characters are pretty good, but I wouldn't say GI is doing it any better than other premium gachas (pretty much no one after Yelan caught my eyes tbh). It just your preference when it comes to this. Gacha system (It is important because it's a gacha game!!!) is extremely unrewarding... yeah there's no up side to this one. It is hands down the worst gacha system in any premium gachas. And don't even mention the gear system... it's borderlined a crime against humanity.
