  • Last time, we introduced the general idea of "thought chunking" and how it applies to languages. Today, we're doing an exercise to practice identifying thought chunks and we'll also analyze the details. Like before, our main focus here is on pronunciation and flow of speech rather than grammar or vocabulary.

    I like this kind of lesson a lot. I think it would be good to use a clip of a real conversation, if possible!

    Could you please add some discourse markers in your next chunking exercises?

    • @NativeEnglishHacks
      @NativeEnglishHacks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, that's certainly related, but it's a bit of a different topic and more about vocabulary and navigating speech than pronunciation and smoothness of speech, which is the focus here. I'll be making chunking videos for grammar and vocabulary (including things like discourse markers) in the future :) I also might try to use clips from other sources as the basis of some lessons like this, so you'll probably see some markers in that.

    could you make a video on the consonant clusters kt, ft, and pt? ive seen some teachers saying it's a D, but is it really? doesn't it sound weird? and how do I even make that D?
    I don't know what to do with the words after, comfortable, chapter, actor, viktor, etc, because I would pronounce them with a strong t before. help

    • @NativeEnglishHacks
      @NativeEnglishHacks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I seem to be getting a lot of questions about this, so I'll add it to the list of the main course. I can tell you now, though, that you definitely *don't* want to do a strong T there.
