I see that giant wall of blades behind you and I worry about your sanity..... Then I look closer and realize how many of those I own myself....... And I worry about my own.
I love the Chogan, I always take mine camping and it can split small logs quite easily, and the hammer is extremely useful. Plus, it's nowhere near as heavy as a full-sized axe. I pair it with a CS Kukri machete, they make a wicked team.
I gotta get one of those. I can't tell you how many times I was camping and or hiking, that I needed to smash cinder blocks but lacked the tool to do it. All smart-assery aside...I really want one of those. I really like the idea of the heavier head and the hammer poll on the end for tent stakes, nail thumping etc.
Are there any ax hatchet machetes in the sub $100 price point that come sharp? I know the fiskarsx7 does... but that thing is ugly and I don't like it.
Thanks for reviewing this, I was looking for a hawk/hatchet for some small chopping during camping trips or mountaineering. Looks like Skallagrim likes it too.
Welther47 the under edge can be for snag cutting or improved pain moves(small edges hut more than thick). You can catch a wrist or run it down a rifle of an opponent. If you catch a leg behind the knee with the sharpen lower edge you can cause more damage.
Great review, love them all, always reference you when looking into buying cutlery. That being said, for the Kangee and chogan, how would you keep the head of the axe in the handle? With my luck, paracord hasn't ever really done well. With my cold Steel Hawks, obviously I can drill a hole right into the wood. Can't with these. What would you recommend? Thanks man.
Dude I totally agree that if I needed a melee weapon against zombies I'd much rather have a hammer or a tomohawk like this. Even for home defense if I didn't have a gun I'd rather have this than a machete.
Law enforcement and army breaches use shield more then any other weapon. In fact shield are used more that anything else in riots/ protests and so on. Look at all the crowd control when protest happen. Shields are literally best defensive tool/weapon.
vikings were 3 inches taller than the English, the vikings also had a longer reach , ever wonder why 30 inch long swords were the standard ??? ... to have maximum killing power the handle on a 1.5#- 2# axe should be between 19 and 22 inches long ... balance and reach are what sets the standard ... was all trial and error back then and even now !!!

You can call me Mr. Smith LOL if you have that many you should make vids, it's a sweet gravy train
+WeAllJuggleKnives what do you mean by gravy train?

I agree with BenrokEarth from 5 years ago, please show us how you did the double-wrap!
Now this is a tomahawk I can justify purchasing. Lots of power. Lots of uses. Nice review
Thank you, this is overall my favorite wood handle tomahawk, all things considered including price.

A bit dissaponted .... first thing I needed to do was sharpening it to get a nice edge.

A shield is part of my EDC. Great video man.
Love my chogan! Its a beast! Use it all the time both in camp and at home
I would recommend wrapping the bottom with tennis grip
"Most people don't carry a shield with them."
I couldn't stop laughing when you said that.

It's what I want for my birthday this year!
I like how the heel below the cheek can be sharpened.
Great hawk videos .What brand are your magnetic wall knife racks? I need strong ones.
Please can you do a video detailing how you do the paracord and gamma grip wrapping. Thanks.

By far the best knife-channel....keep posting them awesome vids!
Thank you, I really appreciate it!
Keep being who you are friend your vids are awesome and very informative!
What about using it with a 2lb hammer to split wood
My only complaint is that it came very dull. Had to re-profile removing a few degrees, and polishing up to a chisel sharp edge.
Is that electrical tape under the blade? And is that just so it stays tight and sturdy? Looks a lot cooler that way too.
What would you need the under-edge for?
I can see a reason for having it on the top, though.
Cause it looks cool. And maybe for hooking and pulling stuff.
How does it compare to the Cold Steel Rifleman Hawk. That would be a good comparison reveiw
Can you show how you put the para cord on there for us challenged viewers? lol I just don't wanna do it wrong somehow.
check out the variety of blades behind
Was that the edge out of the box, or did you sharpen on the same angle, or did you completely change the edge geometry
That is how it came.

I love your office!
would you recommend this tomahawk over the cold steel trailhawk?
Shadrach Hanohano I have both and yes, this one is a bit better.
Very good concise review and very well presented. Thanks.
mohawk14616 Thank you!
Is the woods Chogan slow like the cs riflemans. Or fast like a trailhawk or pipe?
It's slow, more like a hatchet, so it is not as good for some of the quick moves that a lot of hawks facilitate. But it does hit like a wrecking ball
I want one but with a longer handle
Will you be doing a review of the RMJ Kalihawk in the future?? :)
I know it's very pricy though :(
Nope. Next one is the CRKT Woods Nobo Hawk :]
Cool :)
I would reckon that the spike on the Kangee would serve the same purpose as a pickaroon. Anyone ever use it as one?
I've used many an axe and hatchet..this one is my favorite cuts like butter stays sharp and for fuc sakes it's a Hawk
Costs more than an equivalent piece from Cold Steel, is it worth the difference?
Yeah, the CRKT hawks are finished a bit better, although I think both brands hawks are made by the same factory in Taiwan.
Great review, nice product. How does it compare to the Cold Steel Riflemans hawk in weight?
Thanks! The Rifleman's Hawk is slightly heavier.
And I've looked all over and can't find anything so I'll ask you, what kind of steel is the blade made from? I hope a strain of American Steel.
HighFiveGuy13 It's 1055 Mid Carbone Steel
Thanks.
excellent write up. thank you
Not related to this product but I've just spied the Extrema Ratio E.R. Commando. Do that! Please. Pretty please with sugar on top :)
in an ideal world i would like the chogan blade with the kangee spike
guess ill just have to get both ; )
the first test makes a good asmr
true words about the spike vs hammerhead !
How did you wrap the Chogan?
Atomsk0192 I just wrapped two layers of paracord around it and electrical taped the bottom so it's easy to remove.
WeAllJuggleKnives
Thanks
how did u wrap that?
oldfatbaldguy48 so the handle doesn't get dented if you accidentally hit it on something when hammering or chopping
"most people don't carry shields these days" good stuff lol. thanks for the video , subbed
thanks!

Impressive hawk I need one
One question do you have a Facebook page
Yes I do. I never write anything on it, but you can like the page if you want LOL.

looks as good as it performs
nice bro, u know I like it muhaha
Man i like it great vid sir
yeah, you are right, I too have never seen a zombie carrying a shield.
Blunt is bonus dmg vs undead(zombies) and piercing is bonus vs armored opponents. Everyone knows that! :P
My gog , great collection
badass hawk

Are these blades made in China?
Awesome will be doing the same build as you have done. But will also sharpen the beard.
Just got this finally 😍😎 and of course through your link. Love this damn review.👍👊🤘
Awesome, thank you, bro! This is my favorite CRKT hawk.
Thanks man
awesome man
Mine looks exactly the same with my mods
needs a longer handle, but you can always get an aftermarket !!!
+Robert Walters why do you say that? curious?
