    My review of the new CRKT Chogan Hammer Tomahawk. The CRKT Tomahawks (Designed by RMJ) offers strong value and utility. The Chogan Hammer is a bit lighter than the Woods Chogan and is a worthy addition to their family of hawks. The Woods Nobo, Kangee, and Chogan have served me well over the years. For your convenience, links to the CRKT Hawks, Cold Steel Hawks, and more, are listed in the text description box. Enjoy! :]

    I was considering this as my new main hawk, but after comparing it with the Cold Steel trail hawk, I decided against it. They're both 1055 carbon steel with hickory handles and nearly identical designs. The trail hawk is just 20 bucks cheaper. Great video

      Thanks! Yeah, I have given up on some of the new CRKT Hawks and hatchets, the prices have crept too high, the Odr and the Skeggox are overpriced.

    That Hawk has the look of the old rifleman Hawk of the fur trade era. I took an old Carpenter's Hatchet and customized it into a hawk that looks much like the other one you had laying there.

    The Chogan Hammer and Woods Chogan seem very similar. It would interesting to see a comparison between the two to help determine which might be a better choice for specific uses.

    • @WeAllJuggleKnives
      @WeAllJuggleKnives  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Chogan Hammer is 1.8 pounds whereas the Woods Chogan is around 2 pounds. The Woods Chogan also has more edge length, and lacquer on the handle. Those are the main differences, but overall they are pretty similar.

      @@WeAllJuggleKnives Thank you! That was quick! So other than the weight and cutting edge length, it's probably a toss-up between the two. Good to know!

    Hey wealljuggleknives, I've been a fan for years and I have an idea for a video. If you had to pick one edged weapon with an emphasis on tactical use offensive/defensive, in each category what would it be? Example short, meadium, and long fixed blade, short, meadium, long folder, tomahawk, short sword, meadium length sword, longsword, machete, even impact weapons, throwers, and improvised weapons, the more extensive the better. Anyway I thought that would be a really good video. Thanks for the reviews and entertainment over the years.

    How would this compare to the Cold steel pipe hawk, ?? Is it heavier,?? ,, I've been doing some fence repairs today, (following our storms ) using a Fiskars X7, And a Mora, among other things,,
    I've managed to stick the Mora into the end of my finger,,, !! Boy, what a lot of blood,
    🤣😭,,, I've been thinking about the Pipe Hawk, but not sure if this is better,, it's certainly more expensive, !!,
    All the best buddy,,

    • @WeAllJuggleKnives
      @WeAllJuggleKnives  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is around the same weight as a Pipe Hawk, but the Pipe Hawk is not available in most places anymore, so if you find a Pipe Hawk for sale, get that first :]

    Good idea with the paracord. Very helpful that the head can be taken off. I consider a lot of hawks - even those well-made ones from RMJ or so - to be rather too heavy. For a hatchet, it's OK, but for a tactical use, a tomahawk has to be fast.

  • @mattadler4710

    This seems like the move if you're in the market for a budget tomahawk. I'm actually surprised by how good this is, and from CRKT. In my case, I didn't even know I wanted a tomahawk, but I do think I'm gonna buy this. I think it will pair nicely with a number of my more compact belt or carving knives.
