Thanks for your this tutorial. Can you explain about conditions of load applied at joint connections? I mean in which condition we can apply moment and shear forces and in which conditions we apply axial , moment and shear forces ?
Normally singularity in IDEA statica occurs when analysis cannot be performed due to some modelling errors. For eg. when two components do not have a contact or connectivity this would result in singularity. I would advise you to first thoroughly check your model component by component and ensure connectivity, Further applied load should be compatible with the support conditions assumed for the problem
thank you for the useful presentation. i have a question please how do you check if the stresses are safe or not ? you got the max stress 275 and used S355 as a material so you do you compare 275 with 319.5 (355*0.9 safety factor ) or what ?
Dear friend, First of all thanks for ur support. Please note that IDEA statica does not provide separate stress contour plots for bending /axial/shear stresses separately. Instead it provides a plot for equivalent (resultant)stress computed from stresses in orthogonal directions. You can plot the equivalent stress distribution and then check detailed results for various components on the right hand side of the menu . The calculation report in fact provide separately interaction checks for various components using which you can verify whether they are within permissible limits . Hope that this suggestion would be helpful to you.
Sir while modelling the connection welds are not visible in the connection plate but I have provided the weld of 6mm. Due to which connection is showing some error.
Normally this should not happen. Please note that only fillet welds are visible in the model while groove welds are displayed only as a line. 'You can try two alternatives. Delete the relevant manufacturing operation and define it again. If still it does not work use a standard model template from the library
@@puttattjayarajan1199 I am defining fillet welds only. When I extend the end plate upto the secondary beam flange then the weld are visible on the flange, but somehow welds are not viable on the web even though i have selected weld of 6mm. Pre defined templates are working fine but I wanted to know why this is happening?
This is because the welding operation will work only when the flanges of the M2 member is placed on top of the end plate. In this tutorial, this step is not shown. For M2 member offset ex =18mm needs to be defined then the weld will appear. This will resolve the connection problem
@@mjunaidasghar8613 : i'm a very beginner in IDEA, sorry. wher can i find this operation ? besides why in the movie tutorial it has never be mentionned ?
Your first model was unstable and the end plate operation was not working, you should add the end plane operation before the notch operation otherwise it does not work, may be a bug in the software !!!
Can you do one video wherein you show how to design using software and vis a vis manual design by extracting shear ,moment and axial tension etc...i.e. using spreadsheets ....
The best way for anyone to learn and verify IDEA Statica soft ware is to make as many hand calculations as possible and compare the same with the software ( I normally don't like excel sheets....due to its obvious disadvantage). Before making any comparisons , please note that the hand calculations do not take care the out of plane deformation effects of the components which software will include in its calculations
@@puttattjayarajan1199 could you please add a video showing the validation of simple end plate beam weld connection with IDEA StatiCA results. It's obvious that during plastic stage the shear weld check seems handy with manual checks. But not with moment!!
Please upload tutorial how to design connection using tekla structures & idea statica. very good explanation from basics . Thanks

Singularity problem what to do
its really a wonderful video sir. thank you so much
very useful presentation, looking forwaed for the next tutorials.

I do have the same issue. I have a singularity error in m2. Checked everything in modelling. Didn't help
In Member M2 apply the ex value as 18mm that's it.
@@jahangeerali1968 Thanks. It seems that the M2 member was aligned to the axis of M1, resulting in non-formation of welds.

I don't know why but when I perform the analysis it results that elements are unloaded, such as the software can't read axial force.
19:44 what happen here you switch to different window?
Yes after that there a new weld in the web

Very useful video!!!
I need this class if available in online
You can learn idea statica on watching 40 nos. of videos published from my end readily available on youtube.
Nice work.
👍👍👍
There is unbalanced forces.. Why is it so??
Dear syed,
interesting question. Will check and reply at earliest
I'm getting
Analysis X Singularity
I'm also face the problem
I am getting singularity warning.
Same here
