There is a lot of interest in IDEA StatiCa these days and to make sure that new users get a quick start we offer this 1 hour FREE “getting started training webinar” with no strings attached! (Of course we also have our regular training courses that we suggest that you register for!)
    AGENDA:
    Steel:
    - Basic introduction to method on which the program is based (CBFEM)
    - How to model in Idea and how to get results and optimizing a connection.
    - We will look at the different analysis options: EPS, ST, MC and DR
    - Short introduction to buckling analysis.
    - The basics regarding generating calc. reports.
    BIM links:
    - What kind of workflow can you expect from working with Idea Statica, linking it to your preferred CAD and FEA programs.
    Concrete:
    - Basic introduction to method on which the Concrete module is based (CSFM)
    - Showing the different modules and the GUI
    - Showing some examples from the different modules, depending on what’s relevant. Walls/ beams/ columns/ connections..
    - The basics regarding results and generating calc. reports.

Sire about the stress the max value was 293.4 mpa , what is the max limit value? To compare between them ? Thanks . 💐

Hi, sorry for late reply :)
      Fredrik's reply:
In this case the fy for all steel parts was 355MPa. If the requirement is 0% plastic strans in the connection then 355MPa is the max limit value. But a check of an equivalent plastic strain also is performed. The limiting value of 5 % is suggested in Eurocode (EN 1993-1-5, app. C, par. C8, note 1), this value can be modified by the user in Code setup.
CBFEM method can provide stress rather higher than yield strength. The reason is the slight inclination of the plastic branch of the stress-strain diagram, which is used in the analysis to improve the stability of interaction calculation. This is not a problem for practical design. At higher loads, the equivalent plastic strain rises, and the joint fails while exceeding the plastic strain limit.

if fundamental, seismic and accidental load combinations are defined, can all these different load combinations, together, be selected for the code verification of the elements of the connection?

Hi, sorry late reply! All fundamental Load combinations can be selected to be included in the code check, but if seismic and accidental load combinations are enveloped, then they can not be included, as equilibrium will not be obtained. You can read more about import of Loads from FEA software Here:

@@BuildingPointScandinavia, no worries, for the late answer.
I have a steel support, for which Idea Statica will import only fundamental load combinations all unbalanced.
So, the explanation of Idea Statica just does not hold. These let's call them special, load combinations(see seismic) will not be selected by Idea Statica because of some equilibrium but, can be manually inserted, regardless of equilibrium.
I must say, Idea Statica must change something around here.
Thanks for your time and kindness!
