My sweetie...I'm a 74 year old widow who could not have children and I'd like to think that if I had a granddaughter, she'd be just like you. You use a fork instead of a wisk just like my mama did. Bless you, my heart.
One of my favorite meals this time of year is mixed greens, buttermilk cornbread, pintos with fried fatback, and sweet potatoes! It don’t get much better! Them greens ought to be extra good now that it’s had some frost. Hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving!
A day in the kitchen provides so many meals for so many days so we enjoy watching you work in the kitchen knowing that you are having a good time too. Thanks for sharing with us, now enjoy your family times with all your families. God Bless each and everyone of you. Fred.

My wife's cousins saw their Mam- Maw picking greens out in the yard and later after they had ate some of them, she said Mam-Maw cooks the best good ole yard that ever was. Ever time we eat greens we say man that sure is some good ole yard.
Thank y’all both for the vlog, definitely learned a bit. Was considering to grow greens and can them, thanks for sharing and confirming for me. Next time your prepare your green beans try a bit of Balsamic vinegar and minced garlic in them… you talk about taking to the next level, yes indeed! Also applies to fresh greens as well. Appreciate y’all, God bless from the foothills of the Ozarks!
My parents always had a patch of greens every year, a mixture of turnip greens, curly and flat leaf kale and he would throw out radish seed too. Always fun looking for the radishes cause he casted the seed, never in rows. And we would parboil the greens and then freeze them, so good.
We grow kale in ohio and have only had to plant it once it spreads everywhere but that stuff WILL survive 4ft of snow..😂 we've picked fresh greens all winter ...Thinking of you Megan since this is your first Thanksgiving without your dad. Im watching my dad battle cancer and i dont know if this is his last. Definitely going to cherish that time❤
Just want I needed some inspiration on sweet potato casserole, my daughter doesn't like nuts, so I'm gonna do half marshmallows, too! Everything looked great! Have a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving! 🥧🦃🧡🍂
Your green patch is beautiful, i love all greens and i wish i was there to help you pick them. My moma used to can greens, they was so good. Hope y'all have a Happy Thanksgiving. Love all your videos, please keep them coming.

We wash our fresh curly mustard greens in vinegar several times, trim and cook with fat back/salt pork, then can them in late autumn so we have them to eat during the summer with pintos and cornbread. They just don't grow well in the summer heat we have in southern NC, down next to the SC border. That's good country eatin' right there!! Yazzzsureeee.
Another great video. Goodness gracious goodness gracious if I had all them greens I’d cook them up but you know Megan I freeze mine when I cook them to the fullest and I freeze them and put them in a Rubbermaid containers and then I put them in the microwave when I’m ready to eat them And they taste like I just cooked them. I’ve been doing that for years and they are delicious but they buy make some different. I never did make them in the jar. I always froze mine but it’s good to know you can do it your way. I hope you guys have a wonderful Blessed Thanksgiving. 🍁🦃🍁
My grandmother was from Stokes County, came to Guilford County in the early 1900s when her father william Pearson Hicks found work in the textile mill. She always had a turnip patch, but she called Salit. Guess Salit is a word not heard much anymore. I love a good mess of Salit.
Yall have got it going. Canning the greens and cooking for the holidays. I know that it's takes a lot of time. I saw the steers the other day ,and I told my wife, how big they were, ready to go to the packaging plant. What a good way of life. God Bless
Megan, I really did enjoy this video. I did learn something. Thank you very much. Happy Thanksgiving to y’all .. i’m gonna be super busy preparing. I’m gonna start today chopping up stuff. We have so many appointments that we have to go to in between so everything has to be made in between. I’m only doing the turkey and the dressing and all the sides are come from from my daughter-in-law‘s thank you Jesus.🌱🌱🥘🥘🦃

Getting cold, ain’t it?! Those greens are looking amazing! We gave up on the garden outback because deer & rabbits ate it up two times in a row so we only did raised beds and bags. We’ll get back to ground garden when we figure it out here! Lol We grew Chinese cabbage for the first time this year and they might just be my favorite green after spinach & arugula! Please post another hog video because we have piggies for the first time and have never butchered before! Hope y’all had a blessed Thanksgiving! I know it was yummy! ❤
Shore enjoyed watching this video maggan I have to sons but if I had a daughter i would pray that she would be like you and I'm shore she would because she would be like her mama my wife stays doing something all the time God bless yall have a wonderful Thanksgiving see yall on the next one
Sure looks windy and cold.. my days are getting hotter here.. and a 104% of almost 3 weeks of heatwave.. then got rain, rain and more rain.. one of my fruit trees was looking so healthy, then pow..it was like it died overnight.. My vegetable garden was almost underwater for days.. my tomatoes were bursting.. But I keep going, and hopefully will move my garden to the other side of the yard for more shade as summer comes along
Andy I do believe that's the best looking salad path I've ever seen bar none. That's a great looking sweet potato casserole Meagan and Mama would love those turnip greens which was her favorite. That ham meat in those green beans reminds me of Grandma. She always put a big chunk of meat in hers. I wouldn't trade that pot of green beans for all the green bean casseroles ever made. Y'all have a great evening!
You use the same pressure cooker I have because I got my mum's old one and I was pressure cooking a rabbit yesterday I watched a video on youtube and how to do it I see your rockers rocking pretty good but they said to turn your heat down so it's only four rocks per minute and I remember mum's rocker rockin pretty good like yours did five jars in total and only three sealed I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't have watched that video in about the the rocker the weight so today I guess I'm putting two more jars back in pressure cooker this time I let it rock like yours thank you for the video love your channel take care and be safe😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Broad leaf mustard greens oh boy they all look good to me I could put me some in my freezer and eat them with cornbread and a baked sweet potato or sweet potato casserole and I don’t care if I have meat with that yummy yum
Maggan if I said anything in that msg yesterday to make you feel bad I'm sorry I love watching yalls videos so God bless yall and have a happy thanksgiving see yall on the next one

❤ I always learn from your channel. Like you, Meagan, I love greens. Turnip greens 🥬 is my favorite but I have not had any greens I did not love. Even as a child I loved greens my Grandma Bonnie used to cook so often…they are called Creasy Greens. I see them in the grocery store canned items but never see them fresh and ready to cook. I remember well Grandma taking me to fields and digging up creasy greens. Grandma left this world in 1997 but I know she would love watching your channel. Enjoy some greens and cornbread for me next time you have some. Love n prayers to one of my favorite families. God bless you always. 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️🦃🦃✝️✝️🥬🥬
I have to laugh. We don’t like canned green beans. We only eat them fresh, and only steam them for a short time, kind of al dente, and add butter and garlic and sometimes a few craisans. lol. Must be a California thing. 😂 And to really embarrass myself 🥴 the only “greens” I have ever cooked is Kale and spinach. 😊😉 Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. 🦃🦃
Boy oh boy it’s nothing better than a pot of turnip and mustard greens with a skillet of cornbread and sure wish I could come up there and pick me some for dinner I love them
It is only supposed to take about 50 to 60 days for turnips to bulb up. You should try peeling and roasting some of them like potatoes with your favorite seasoning. My family loves them that way. I don’t like to let them super big, the one you are holding up is about as big as I would want.
You all are so industrious, timely getting the most food grown harvested and preserved for your family. You inspire me to grow what I have room for. Thank you for making these fabulous videos and including us in your daily lives❤😊
Your greens are beautiful! I love greens all most all kinds! I’m not really a lover of collard greens! I will eat them but mustard greens is my preferred! Wish I had greens like that in my garden I would be canning a bunch! Big pot of greens n fresh pone of cornbread! Love me some turnips too! Do y’all sell your greens! You sure have enough beautiful greens to do That with!
My mom would blanch greens and put the in freezer bags and freeze them. You had to finish cooking and season them. They would taste like fresh picked on a cold winter day. You need to try this.
Oh gosh Megan & Andy, that salat patch is beautiful. Have you a pot of beans, chicken & rice or pork & rice, sweet potato casserole, pot of greens & pan of cornbread...oh my goodness a feast for sure...YUM YUM
Instead of marshmallows I barely warm some marshmallow cream in the microwave then spread it over the entire casserole and top the whole thing with the brown sugar/pecan mixture. So many compliments every single year!

So enjoyable. Hope you are able to harvest the greens and the peas before snow hits you. I’m a collard greens person. Love them. However, I really enjoy turnips and parsnips and potatoes boiled with a piece of beef. But, the turnip greens are not a favorite. Today, I’m making my Shoofly pie and cutting up my apples for an apple pie. Wednesday, I will make the pumpkin pie and chocolate gooey brownies. Daughter is bringing the green beans, potatoes, and salad, also a big ham. I will put the turkey in the oven early Thursday morning. Filling goes into the turkey and the cornbread stuffing will be another side dish. Cranberry sauce is getting made today. Rolls are in the freezer. Did I forget anything. Yes, I have whipped cream in a squirt can.
Send me some of the pretty greens I have not been able to plant any in a long time I love the turnip greens better than mustard I love the purple top turnips too I would plant mine in rows too get big turnips a lot of people eat greens out of my garden I like to give them to anyone who wanted some
Thank goodness I had some greens saved in the freezer, I’m still waiting on a good frost to get on our greens. I went out to pick some yesterday, and stopped when I pulled a leaf that had some type of bug eggs on it. Never seen these type of eggs, looked like what was on our squash leaves this summer. These eggs were green though all bunched up together. So that got me lol Happy Thanksgiving! Blessings from TN❤
I made the cobbler you made in the last video, but i used cherry pie filling. OMG even my very picky son loved it. I sprinkled chocolates chips on top before i pit it in. Cherry chocolate, yum!
Your greens look amazing. It's been really warm in Mississippi and the bugs got into ours. I canned greens last year for the first time in my life and they have been so good!
My sweetie...I'm a 74 year old widow who could not have children and I'd like to think that if I had a granddaughter, she'd be just like you. You use a fork instead of a wisk just like my mama did. Bless you, my heart.
