Wow this has sports car acceleration and the economy is excellent under 8 per 100 left me scratching my head why aren't these selling in bigger numbers better price than the Forester and way better eng and gearbox
Well, I've just picked up an AWD ST Line and so far, very little torque steer, if any. I've noticed that as soon as you boot this thing the AWD comes into play (a visual animation on the dashboard shows what's driving what) and the rears take up drive virtualy instantaneously. So far, well happy with this thing. Amazing number of safety aids and toys too. Nothing on the market able to touch it for price, gear and performance by a long way. Oh and bearing in mind it's a new car, averaging 9l per 100kms. That's for 183kw...
@@howardwall8743 hey Howard, do you think the AWD's acceleration suffers with the extra weight? I'm tossing up between the FWD and AWD but won't be able to test drive an AWD one before I need to purchase one.
@@scottlefevre3904... I highly doubt it. Extra weight is minimal anyway. Goes like stink if you ask me. Oh, also, I opted for AWD as I tow a boat, and have no issues on steep ramps or soft ground with AWD. Suprised a lot of other car drivers, I can tell you. Highly recommended...
Exactly my thoughts when I drove one / figured out these had a 2.0T. Plus these are cheaper than a Forester XT was. With the Escape you get this same engine and gearbox from the base model up. Only option for drive train is FWD or AWD. It feels loads quicker than the Fozzy and handles better too.
Have been waiting for this one. These are an absolute bargain and I have no idea why I'm not seeing them everywhere. In fact I NEVER see them at all. THIS is that car that reviewers always gush over about a performance car for people with a family. Your Octavia RS or some Suby before it. But because it isn't marketed as a 'warm' / 'hot' SUV this gets completely looked over by the sad state of motoring journalism. Better yet, if this WAS marketed as a warm / hot SUV or whatever, it would be stickered with $50-60k+. They should be drowning in orders. Really missed a trick with this car.
@@allthenamesaretaken2 my local has no stock, but they had at least a couple demos. Do you know what the wait is on them? I’ve seen quite a few demos for sale too.
I got the 2020 AWD 2.0T and it's great. It's like if I took my 2014 Fiesta ST and made it more practical in every way. More comfortable suspension and more ground clearance but still handles pretty well. More interior room, but still a compact vehicle. More power and torque to compensate for the extra weight, so it's just as fast. I just wish I could have gotten it in a manual, because the paddle shifters aren't very responsive. But an automatic is more practical if you're not going to be the only one driving the car. And Sport Mode does make it a little more fun through the hills.
Were did you get the turbo variant? I was at Ford dealership today to find out prices and they know nothing about a Turbo, they gave me a brochure and it's got nothing in there either. They even jumped on Ford Australia website and nothing in there either
Because this is actually the European Kuga, not the US Escape (confusing that they badge it Escape here I know), and they are actually quite different to one another. Same basic design but the Kuga is more upscale to suit euro tastes, the US Escape is cheaper to meet the price point the US demands.
We think the AWD version would produce some very interesting results - probably below 6.0 seconds, yes. We'll see if we can book one in to test. PS. Keep in mind, 6.44 seconds is not far off the 6.30 seconds we achieved in the manual Focus ST. And it develops 206kW.
