Not really. Not so long ago kids didn't rule the parents and we all turned out better for it. Children need boundaries. Catering to them in all things is never a good thing.
Yeah, that’s the thing. You can be kind, but still firm in guidance. Being gentle doesn’t mean they walk all over you, it means you understand their humanity, that they’re new to this world, and that neither of you walk on each other. You recognize the good inside, and regulate yourself, but still guide them. It’s also recognizing your own messy humanity, that you’re learning too. It’s a balance. Being kind, but leading. You don’t have to be scared of parenting. Your love is enough.

There will be no place for inflicting suffering, or fear, or heartache. Your love will be enough. Your child will respect you when they trust you. When you see the innocence you once held, the good inside that means no harm, the newness to this world, learning how to be in it, and the love that can be stronger. Because I know you are afraid too. I know you are hurting, I know you are angry, bitter, aching, and scared. I know the burden it is to live in a world that doesn’t value you. Your child’s shoulders were never meant to carry this heavy world that you bring home every day. They don’t need to be strong yet. Their job is just to be a kid. Your child doesn’t need an iron fist. We become our worst selves when we are isolated, cast out, looked down upon, when we believe that is all we are and all we can be. The best of us comes when others believe in us, and know our ugliness, and love us anyway. Believe in your child and they will believe in themselves too. They just need you to be a home. What I got from this (and watching many people parent at nursery and playgroup) is parents who don’t know how to say no & mean it, will get kids who abuse the word and Lord it over their parents 😂

All generations parent their children differently. You do what works best for you and your child, regardless of what you’re told and what you should or shouldn’t do. Even in the same family, different discipline methods have to be used sometimes for different children.
No, some ways of parenting are better than others. We do understand what ways of parenting lead to strong, loving and happy, independent adults. There are ways of raising children that give them self confidence, inner strength and self control. Punishment based parenting does the opposite. My mom’s gentle parenting was telling me to act right at the store or else she was going to whoop my ass as soon as we got in the car! I always got in line way before we got close to the car!! I only got spanked twice as a child that I remember, and I definitely deserved it. I turned out just fine.
Lol..the point is this AINT gentle parenting! Key word TRYING to gentle parent but really giving permissive parenting. Everybody I hear that say gentle parenting don't work give examples of permissive parenting not gentle parenting. They don't kno the difference. In this world many confuse gentle & kind for weak & doormat.
