"don't always STICK to this shot. You need to BRANCH out". Clever 😂
😜😆
@@BadmintonInsight please, can you do a tutorial for the new spin serve who's everybody's talking about these days?
I missed so much training due to injuries but thanks to you guys I'm still learning ❤
Glad we could help you, and hopefully you're back to full health soon! 🙏🏼
get well soon!
What happened ?
I'm relatively new to badminton and i really find all your videos very fun and engaging! Keep up the good work! :)
Great structure on how you explain and demonstrate. Good for players new to the sport, like me. Fun to watch too, thank you! Great to watch your matches in Madrid, congratulations!
Excellent and concise instruction, as usual. Great comeback in Spain following a difficult first game against the Danes. Solid advice from Anthony Clark regarding keeping Mathias out of those attacking mid-court positions he absolutely loves, and it certainly showed in that second game.
this is one of my favorite shots because its easy to follow up when its hit clean
never formally learned badminton, picked up tricks like these from playing often enough with friends and playing with better opponents .. wish i had all these videos to learn from when i started, wouldve progressed so much faster lol
hey jenny and greg, thank you for giving us lots of tutorials! i really had improved after watching the two of you! ❤
Ah that’s awesome to hear! 😁
Your videos are very helpful
And u also explain them very systematic way easy way due to which it is very easy to understand and implement it in my game
Your videos are helping me to improve my game and I now have become confident with my strokes
Keep posting!!!!
chortled at your surprise when you actually hit the shuttle with the stick!
Lacking power in my full smash, I've always found the stick smash /punch clear combo useful. Glad to find I got that bit right!
Too good. Thank you soo much you guys. You never disappoint us 😄💯
Hi Greg and Jenny , I’m your fan from India , thanks a lot for uploading such amazing videos . I was able to improve a lot just by your videos . Your videos are up to the point and amazing , thanks a lot
Great video! I have been watching badminton for many years and I have realized that in particular, Lin dan's stick smash and cross court smash, especially from the forehand, seems to be slightly steeper and more powerful than most. Can you guys do a video on why this may be so?
i always wait until you upload a vide. i love all of you tip's and tricks. and i love your vlogs😊
crazy accurate stick shot there in the intro, greg! loved the vid
Thanks! 😁 Glad you enjoyed it!
I saw you Spain masters quarter final match. It was amazing ❤️
Waiting for the vlog :)
thanks for your videos it helped me improve so much❤
Thanks for another great video. The production quality was excellent.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have been training 🏸 for 7 years and this channel has really helped me!
Thx

Congratulations. Your camera work and editing has improved dramatically. I can just imagine how much time it takes to make those overlays. But they are so well illustrates the point. Respect and admiration. Thank you for your efforts
Thank you so much Oleg 🤗
I love the content you both are giving us
Thanks for watching 😃
Great video, always good to build up on my badminton armoury knowledge from you guys. All I need now is to execute them on court :-). Well played in Spain and good luck next week !!
Glad you enjoyed it Simon! And thanks ☺️
awesome tips as always guys. since it is ramadan, my usual team has stopped playing for the month, so i'll just be taking notes for now and use it later when we resumed playing again 😁
Thanks 🤗 Hope it goes well when you get back to playing!
Great tips! Can't wait to try it on my next session. Thank you!
Thanks, and enjoy using this awesome shot 😁
I don't play badminton at competitive level but these videos definitely keep me ahead from others in the game at some point
Thanks a ton for the great videos!!!
Glad you like them! 😁
Thanks for the tutorial guys!!😊 I am now just waiting for analysis video to see.
I hope I am there😅
Need to try this out.
your content has helped me very much
Thanku
thank you friend for the technique provided.
Welcome 🤗
Love seeing you guys playing against top competition all the time these days.
Thanks for another great tip video here
Thanks 😁
i always thought this is something like a late-to-the-shuttle kind of smash variety, but apparently not and much more complex than that. thanks for the tutorial!
Welcome 😁 Glad we could help you learn something new!!
Lzj favorite 😍 my favorite video so far!
Wow, thanks!
I hope you guys would come to singapore soon! I rlly wanna meet u guys in person
Hopefully soon 😁
Awesome Videos, Keep It Up!
Thanks, we'll try our best! 😁
Best channel ever
It’s such a good advice for me to improve my game. Thanks very much for making this video. By the way, congrats on your semifinal result in Madrid and good luck on next week’s tournament in France. Hope you go as far as possible.
Glad we could help you improve 😁 and thanks!
I just joined badminton and i have my first tournament on Monday. As a teenager ,ur videos help me a lot. Can u pls make a video abt how to play against older players(seniors)?I appreciate it .❤❤
Hi, and thanks for the exellent content. I really enjoy your channel!
I would love to hear your take on the speed of shuttles, particularly in a tournament setting.
The reason I ask, is because after many years of recreational play, my partner and I recently started taking our doubles game to a more serious level, so we started participating in club tournaments. When we play practice matches, we use cheaper shuttles of varying quality, which usually (~80% of the time) results in us having to add weight to the head of the shuttle in the form of blue-tac in order for our underhand test-strokes to reach near the doubles service line, as specified by the rules. We opted for this solution thinking that we would be training ourselves to play with shuttles of proper-ish speed without breaking the bank.
However when we play in our club tournaments, the rules specify that we should play with the shuttles that the club stocks in their refrigerator, which are the Victor smash it #1's. While these are expensive high-quality shuttles (atleast by our standards), no official testing has ever taken place, and it seems like my partner and I are the only ones concerned with the slowness of the shuttles during play. It feels like there's almost no danger of ever hitting any shot too long.
So my question is as follows: how does this work in pro level tournaments? You mentioned that Greg got to test the shuttles at one point in your "Malaysia Open 2023 behind the scenes" video; I would love to learn more.
My reasoning is that: given that there is variance in the skill and power levels of individual players (particularly at the lower club levels), one could make the argument that there is a lot of subjectivity when it comes to testing shuttles. - For example, as a mediocre club player, how can I be sure that it really is the shuttle, and not the quality of my under-arm stroke that is at fault? Being used to "correct speed shuttles" (for me anyway) I struggle a lot with the timing of my shots when I play with slower shuttles, and make easy mistakes because my reflexes and muscle memory is incorrectly tuned. - Is this something that I just need to learn to deal with? - What if I now learn to play with slower shuttles, and then eventually enter a higher-level tournament where the shuttles are of "correct" speed? - Again I would be out of my comfort zone.
For what it's worth, I tried reading up on the topic, but there is very little literature around this. The only corroborating sources I found were written by a British coach named Paul Stewart.
Congrats ✨️ Great week in madrid
masters🎉
Thank you 🙌
good progress in Spain, congrats!
Thanks! Another big step in the right direction 😊
Hello Greg and Jenny, i just started subscribe this channel, because i Saw so many knowledge about badminton in here. Btw, im from Indonesia and started like your performance and maybe be your fans😂. Idk why, i just like it. After Ellis and Smith rarely played, I started to see you guys, I wish you a brilliant career in the future.
Thank you so much Dyto 🤗
Nice pun hehe. I never realized this was called a stick smash, but now that I know the theory behind how they’re different, I can try to consciously incorporate it into my game a bit more ☺️
That cross-court stick smash especially looks sick!
Great video as usual. I know you guys have already done some videos on footwork, but i do think it'd be a great idea to make a video which covers everything there is to know about footwork.I assume it'd be a very long video since there is a lot to know. This such an important part of the game, and despite being able to find separate videos about footwork, i couldn't find one which covers it all. Also, you did really good at the spanish open, well played. Looking forward to see you play at the orlean open! Cheers 💚
Yes we’ve done a series on footwork (split step, 4 corner, Forehand corner footwork) and we’re sure we’ll add more in the future but these videos are hopefully good starting points 😊
Greg and jenny thanks for all these tutorials it helped me and others alot ❤
Glad we could help :)
I wish I could meet you guys in person some day hopefully it does happen take care until then
Awesome video as usual
Thanks team 💙
I’m trying this on my next training, thanks both of you
Have fun!
Thanks guys for another great video. You make learning badminton so easy!
It would be a great help for many beginner & intermediate level players on how to hit "round the head" shots. I am always late and have to resort to a weak backhand clear instead and lose the rally.
Thank you so much 🤗 And thanks for the video suggestion!
@@BadmintonInsight eagerly waiting for it! Evertime i try to hit "round the head" it goes out of bounds. I am just not able to work the angle and get the shuttle to go straight 😅
Another great video. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice to see your still doing videos. Not playing at the moment as mate has injury and it be few months😢. But the videos keep me going. Mind you i would prob do better with that stick😂. Saw your match in semi. Good progress realy but sorry for your loss. I think they moved the lines for them. And what was with the hulk the other side?...to much danish pastry i think. Whats your nxt tournament?. Good luck and look forward for nxt video.
Thanks for this tutorial 😊
Any time! 😁
Hey thanks for the video 😊
Hey guys
I was wondering if you could make a video on how one can manage themselves better as an independent player? I recently attended tryouts for a team and didn't make the cut, but I still want to compete. However, I'm unsure how to go about things. How do I know what to work on, which tournaments to join, things like that. A few tips would be really appreciated!
With that being said, great work on the video as always!
Congrats on the WIN!
Thanks 😊
You guys are insane, love you
Haha, that's very kind - thanks 🤗
Hi great video absolutely loved it, just a quick perhaps unrelated question does changing to a thicker racket grip cause issues in the wrist? ive recently changed to one and wrist pain has started thought id ask the pros.
Favourite shot of lee zii jia❤
rare instance of a lad not having the backhand smash as his fav shot
@@AnnaSue81 🙏
I was surprised to know that the elbow stops in the movement, I have been doing it wrong all along. Great explanation and examples to help the content stick 😉
Haha love it 😜
Great video,
I would like to ask , in this stick smash, the main power is from forearm rotation, or from squeezing of fingers, or a bit of both ?
Good video as always well played on the Madrid open
Thanks 👍
thank u so much
Hey! That’s my comment in the video! Thank you!! I’ve been waiting for this!!
Hope you liked it 😁
Well done in Madrid.
Thanks Alan 🤗
good job on the Span Masters ❤
Thanks :)
Thanks for this tutorial! Would this technique give you tennis elbow quicker since the stroke doesn’t follow through to the other side of your body?
Very nice video and also congrats for making it to Spain masters finals🎉🎉
Thank you so much 😀
Hey Greg and Jenny? This time you guys won’t make a video of Spain tour ??? I was eagerly waiting for that!!!
Thank you guyss
Thanks to you for watching 😁
Thanks
Can you please come out with a video explaining how players are choose to participate in bwf tournaments like the super series and international series..thank-you 🎉❤
Hard luck in Spain, I reckon you've got the measure of your opponents, you'll get them next time! Also, some of the defence you played was off the scale - amazing!
What was the conversation with the umpire near the start and the opponents at the end about? I guessed the shuttle speed had been changed?
Hi Greg and Jenny, i've started coaching 2 months ago and currently have been training 2 students, currently i can't help them improve that much because i don't have the equipments necessary to help them improve, can i do it without the equipments? or is there an alternate/temporary way of coaching them?
Finally! I've been wanting to find a good stick smash tutorial for a long time. Thanks so much!!
Hope this helped 😁
Hi Greg , my coach told me that i lack of flexibility in my swinging action, even tho my technique is quite good but my swinging motion is kinda stiff, would be happy for a advice 😊
awesome
Mantap...👌👍
This is my favorite smash when try to aiming opponent weakness point
i watch so much of your videos my coach said i was the best he ever saw at my age
I just started badminton, and I'm slow on the court. Its been almost 2 weeks since I started, and my shoulder hurts when I try to smash, and knees hurt after games. I don't know the proper cooldown and warmup. My ankle also hurts and player say body is rigid sometimes and there's no power in shots. HOW DO I IMPROVEEE
Maybe the method you grip racket and the energy used on wrong part. If beginner, can learn the simple tutorial first. Don't straight doing jumping smash and cross smash. You will get injury easily
Interesting
You hit the shuttle with the stick on first take??? Where are the outtakes? :)
Great video once again! There's a new wave videos on this spinning serve, I'm sure it'll get banned but are you guys going to cover it? (exciting times!)
3:09 this was amazing. Merging the videos is a great visualisation.
Thanks Sameer!
I want to come to uk n practice with u guys
Hey Guys! Are you guys going to upload a vlog on the Rest of the European leg?
Pls do a video on half power smash
I watdhed your match it was very interesting i know you will win next time
Thanks :)
Do Slice Smash please...and congrats on sf in madrid
Well played in the Spain masters
Still gono root for you in Malaysia
Congratulations on the 1st place in the Bundesliga with your team in Wipperfeld and good luck in Final Four! 💪🏿💪🏿
Thanks! 😁
Are you guys gonna do a video on the Spain masters?:)
Unfortunately not, we didn't film anything when we were there!
thanks
Welcome 😁
Can you do a breakdown on Koki Watanabe’s England Open run? Dude is a giant killer. Think it will help your fans who are not that tall. ❤️
hi guys can you please do a video or short about the correct racquet swing technique and how to implement it on court
We’ve done lots of tutorials for individual shots, we’d recommend checking those out! 😊
i just need to ask what's the best racket that i could use
Great video. My problem is exactly the last point you mentioned. I tried stick smash so much that now it has become muscle memory and I cant hit proper smash these days with full body rotation. 🤦♂
Thanks! Hopefully you can remember the normal smash soon and be able to use them both haha
❤❤❤
amazing spain open.
Thanks Pawan :)
3:18 nice edit!
Matter fact, this is the kind of smash I have been using since day 1, mimicing LZJ.
Every teammates and opposing teams told me that my smash needs more power, but the control is pretty well. Now that I know the full smash isn't this one, I have just found new way to increase power instead of doing gym workout 😂
I tend to injure my wrist from doing this smash too much during a session. Is there anything I need to look out for form wise? Too much wrist snap instead of forearm?
I'm gonna learn this if we have practice
Enjoy!
Nice stick video
Thanks! 😀
@@BadmintonInsight perfect tutorial, but I have an injured pinky finger. Looks like I need to wait until it heals!
