- On August 21, 1992, Faust was visiting his mother in Lillehammer over the weekend. Whilst walking back from the pub, he was approached by an older gentleman who solicited him for sex. Faust followed the man out into the nearby woods, stabbed him repeatedly with a knife, and left him for dead. Two days later, after returning to Oslo, he burned Holmenkollen Chapel together with Euronymous and Varg Vikernes.

Its not sure about who made the arson. Its easy to expect from Varg, than from Faust. The questions are why Bard took a torch, when he knew very well, what will be his future. Varg just lost his life in the prison, and Bard was in the prison relatively short time, he agreed to claim, that he killed the quire, but he never took responsibility for the arson. Actually Varg never did it too. They were guilty about the murder, but Varg got 21 years, and Faust much less. Actually the same crime had very unequal punishment.. Maybe in Norway lows are very strange, but looks like someone was interested to take Varg away as far as it possible. Its not so simple issue. The only evidence of taking a part in the arson was the picture, that nobody never saw. Not less interesting, how Ihsahn, one of this company, became VIP in Telemark, and Faust and Samoth still have a bad reputation. I am generally "A Mayhem guy", but sometimes I think, maybe Varg wasn't welcome in Norway? Maybe he is really better, than I think about him, but something is wrong here. Anyway, better to play a monotonous riffs, than to burn historic places! The most normal was Ihsahn. He was playing guitar and teaching in his
Nottoden. But in the end they found the crazy Finnish girl, who was the real criminal. Typical story from the European town... For 90-s. Today its has no meaning.

Good points. Sometimes the most "obvious" choice may not be the suspect at all. They certainly wanted to make an example out of someone due to black metal's truths. We know from history who that someone was.
Faust’s murder was more spur of the moment while Varg’s was more premeditated. Varg was also found with weapons and explosives in his home. He was also charged with burning Fantoft. So different charges to Faust.
i miss this era. now black metal is trash. no fire again :(
