See, if you think about it, Pearl being a bratty teenager is actually very sad. I have to wonder how she fared as a young little whale since her father freaks the hell out over one penny. Did she begin the tantrums and air-headed cheerleader persona to try and get attention from her own father? Not to mention, at school, all she wants is to be popular and have the approval of her friends instead of what SHE actually wants so someone pays attention to her. If we remember the episode where she worked with a nice old lady, she learned how to appreciate the elderly and pursue her own interests, but when her friends began making fun of her, it was the first time she realized she didn't have to care about other people's opinions of her. Not to mention when Mr. Krabs tried to get Pearl to manage the Krusty Krab and she changed it to what she WANTED to, then all her dad could do was start whining and crying about how much it cost him, though he apparently does love his daughter. It seems like he only ever remembers his daughter Pearl when she's right in front of his face or when it benefits him (like when he dressed up as Pearl to scare Plankton), not to mention when he sold the Krusty Krab and only talked to his daughter when he was dying of boredom and sitting on a mound of cash. EDIT: Okay, in the replies everyone keeps complaining that it's a kids show and I should be enjoying it. I love the show so much and have seen all these episodes and have drawn the above conclusion. This wasn't meant to be criticism, only an observation.
I do believe that there's a place, no matter how big or small that Mr Krabs loves his daughter, but yeah, it is very sad when you think about Pearl's behaviour combined with her dad's neglect.

I can relate to pearl on a personal level because my daddy is the same thing but instead of money it's basketball. Like for example I was waiting three hours for my mom to come pick me up and without knowing my dad drove to my sister's school to drop off some food before her game and then went home but here's the catch I was also at my sister's school and instead of taking me home with him, he just left me there to wait another hour for my mom to pick me up. It actually made me cry when I told my mom because he rather associate himself with a daughter who can play basketball then take his other daughter home. Also when mom asked him why he didn't take me home he said "Oh I forgot about her" how can you possibly forget about one daughter but then remember the next.

Him getting worse and her getting worse is actually good, I know it's a pure comedy show but her dad is obsessed with money and it's possible the money could take over over time, while pearl was bratty and if that goes unchecked it can get worse.
