Wakajce well, in the very worst case the camera will detach mid-tunnel and be lost forever. The trick is to get a relatively inexpensive one that you're not too afraid to part with. In my case, I bought a pretty good quality camera used - and put it to use right away, before I get a chance to 'fall in love' with it, so to speak.

That's cool. The best way to get a really good view of the tunnel without risking your camera falling off is to actually go to the front or back of the train, have your camera zoomed in all the way and that's a risk free option
this is actually a pretty smart move just used for different venue, they use this kind of camera set-ups on drag racing outlaws and pinks to get the cars side and front rear camera shots but if it works...good, but if the camera drops off good luck in trying to retrieve it.....your phucked! !!!!!
Can you do this on an uptown express 4 train from Brooklynn Bridge City Hall to 42nd Street Grand Central??? If you recording during late nights, do it on the 5 because the 4 will go local via the 6.

You dont need to put our camera at risk of falling or someone grabbing it, just use an S plate with or without a sucker between the rubber seals on the doors. Bolt the camera to the plate. Hold the other end inside or use a sucker.
You are CRAZY for putting that thing on the side of the train! Don't you know that it can get stolen, fall off, or get knocked off by going into a tunnel that's just the right size for it's train line? And then you'll loose a perfectly good piece of equipment.

Use a magnetic mount instead. Bumpy subway train rides and a suction cup mount, sounds like a disaster.
