  • This 1931 Farmall Regular is one of my favorite tractors and so much fun to use. In this video, I added a disc and used it on a newly plowed piece of land. You get to see the great turning action of the steering and how the steel wheels grip the earth. I was going to shorten the video but thought you might like to see some green grass and sunshine. I know I do!
I ended up going over the plot again to work out more clumps before planting potatoes. We will be planting for the second time this year (2023) and hope to get even more produce. And yes, we will be rotating some other crops in there as well.
I encourage you to put your old equipment to use. Nothing gets better by setting around. That goes for humans, beasts, and machines!
    Peace,
    Deering Dave

Family tractor when I grew up (I'm 75) was a '24 Regular on rubber. It would pull a 2 bottom in 2nd gear. Dad added a flywheel behind the bell, starter, added generator and lights, and a belt drive hydraulics, nice snowplow. Front mount buzz saw. I threw away tons of wood from that thing. I used to "skooch" up in the seat and clamp my thighs around the wheel to keep control in our rough ground. Dad died in 95, we sold it ?? about 03. DROVE it onto the trailer.

I would love to have a starter on mine!

You really started that with just 1 crank, after the choke. Pretty nice tractor.

It's hard to watch these when I know I have eight weeks to go before I'm in the field like this! Great to see the old equipment running. All my equipment is 1950s era.

@@DeeringDave I suspect the carburetor is in dang fine condition too! Plus, the engine must have no vacuum leaks and good compression too. Very impressive indeed!

I had a farmall on regular and it was a fine old tractor but I thought I needed a more modern tractor so I traded it and got a 1935 f20😮

Yep, with the equipment of that era, days were long and hard.I grew up on a dairy farm and we were fortunate to have a tandem a tandem gang
wheel disc. I love the way the engine sounds, you have the advance set correctly for runing under a load, so many people film a tractor of this vintage(10-20, f20 etc) with the timingset in a retarded position

This old farmall is from an era when things were made for durability or reputation building , unlike now days made to fail in a few years so you need to buy parts or a new tractor ,none of the new tractors will be on farms in 100 years from now,

I hate to be the bearer of visdom. Discs like that are nade so that vhen the disc is curved to vork, the ends come forvard, NOT Backvard

Dang!! That plow doesn't do much on 1 pass. Flops the turf grass over.

It's a disc, made for breaking up plow furrows. It's also a single gang, so I had to make two passes. I like it for working small garden plots and tight spaces.
