I am still curious to see how it would have turned out. According to Tim, the Cat was his idea and wanted to give some edge about a creature loose in the house and closer to the book. But, sometimes, it is better to fantasize the concept than see it acted out.
The reason Charlie was on the naughty list was because he was acting up in school, which is how Scott got involved with the principal, so yeah, we did need that subplot.
They still could've done it in a different way without Charlie being on the naughty list. Like something with Charlie being a talented student in school and the principal wanting to let Scott know about it or something like that.
Santa Clause 1: "Wow, they really captured what I imagined the North Pole to be like." Santa Clause 2: "Huh, they're a bit goofier this time. Even Bernard...wait why do the reindeer speak gibberish?" Santa Clause 3: "Okay what the fuck."
+Souji Monaru Exactly.I loved how we got to enjoy Charlie's growth, from a kid(protecting his dad's secrets) to a young adult (sharing his gift with Lucy) No matter what many people say about the 3rd one, there's something I'll always appreciate from this series:Consistency. PD:I'll miss Bernard, though. V_V
Josh Barnes The head elf in the first two movies. Santa's right hand man. The teenager with the artist cap and the crazy head. Judy wasn't in the third movie either....
I liked the first two Santa Claus movies, and tbh, I kinda like the second one better. Also, I don't know why Doug didn't mention this, but the little sister was just adorable. Definitely on my top 10 list of cute characters. You would think that she and the actor who plays Charlie really are brother and sister. There was something that felt so... genuine about that final scene and the few other times they interacted.
Seeing the Santa Clause 3 in theaters is still burned into my memory. Up to today, my mind can only recall the agony of that last scene with the little girl hugging Jack Frost, saying "I'm warming your heart" as he melts away into a nicer person. God, the epic amount of cheese in that moment was all I can care to remember. Like the critic says: second one was so-so, but the third one was something I couldn't find myself enjoying even when I was a kid.
I've just had a thought. If the current Santa Claus needs to have a Mrs Claus then what happened to the Mrs Claus of the Santa that fell off the roof? Was she harshly kicked out of the North Pole and froze to death? Is there a retirement home for all the Santa Claus widows? Was there a family? Someone call Film Theory cause I need this answered.
+Aqua Storm I meant what happens to the old Mrs Claus. In Santa Clause 1 there was no old Mrs Claus waiting for her now dead Husband. So when 1 Santa dies where does his wife go Do they throw her out. Does she die to. Does she just vanish. Does she go back to her former life.
+Vlane Tepish I'd assume she would either or back to former life or die with him. I mean the movie was done in the 90s and seeing as its still Disney they can't really say or show "this" and "that" happened. Thought you did bring up a good point, which I never thought about : 3
Ok I know that this video is old. But I have to say that I liked the 2nd one better because of one plot line........The one about Charlie suffering the consequences of having his dad as Santa, and how he can't tell anyone. That is a pretty good idea about how he just wants to tell everyone about his father and what he does.
I remember binging all 3 when I was a child. Though since I live in Florida most of my Christmas spirit has died because there literally is no winter here. It's been a constant summer for a year now. On a side note, I did a little research on the rating for these movies. First movie was good, second movie was fair, third movie was slammed. I didn't think 3 was THAT bad... I'd still watch it. Why do people ridicule Tim Allen so much?
People don’t like him because he’s sarcastic and He’s conservative which is like having a target on your back these days. Sorry for getting political 😅😅😅
I’ll Admit I Hated That Scott Was Being Forced to Find a Mrs.Claus,But That’s Really Only Because I Was a Teenager Who Had Become Cynical Towards Love,&,The Whole Notion of Love,I Still Kinda am
I very much like The Santa Clause 2 for being very heartfelt with the romance and with Tim Allen and his son...But The Santa Clause 3 bored me to tears...I never even finished it.
1: nice but yeah, didn't age well so a bit of cringe here and there 2: still nice, a bit funnier, but no reason for the fake Santa since, the elfs would've been cool with Scott caring for his son and trying to keep on being Santa anyways 3: NO BERNARD!!!!!!!! And a bit cringy too
I remember really wanting to like the third one as a kid, simply for Martin Short alone. But I do agree, he wasn't given as much funny material to work with, especially considering how creative the scenario could have been with the character of Jack Frost trying to knock Santa off his pedestal as the holiday mascot. Plus....I miss Bernard! :( How much more interesting would the interaction between him and Jack Frost be, considering his no nonsense attitude and Jack sabotaging everything? Wasted opportunity of a film, even though I remember it fondly.
I love the 2nd one but it barely gets played at all, and the December specials hardly had play time last year. The stations that use to play specials all month now only play them for like a single week, and that was in Nov around Thanksgiving where most were played for a few days. Christmas has just gotten really sucky on TV imo. I didn't even see Christmas Story, and they buried Charlie Brown specials again like they always do in some god forsaken timeslot like some bad juu juu.
Brandon Roberts I don't really remember it, but I would love to hear what the critic says about it...I just remember that it was about the daugter of ariel and that she is wanting to be in the see? hmmmmm I remember a bit....wow this movie could have its own review! I hope he does that!
I really enjoy the second one. I like that Charlie has emotional problems because who wouldn't after all that not seeing his son because he is an immortal being and shit
I saw the first 20 or so minutes of the 3rd one and almost couldn't stomach it...but I had no IDEA they threw in a time travel aspect lol. That makes me want to give it another shot to see if they at least try to pull it off well...
Anyone else wondered what happened to Bernard's character. They literally just gloss over the fact a head elf for two films is gone. Which sucks since I liked his character alot more than the kid who replaced him. Damn you cash of a third film!
"The Santa Clause 2" is not so bad as people said. It's a decent flick about Allen/Santa is trying to find a right woman to become the new Mrs. Claus. It's a charming looking film with gorgeous Christmas decorations, the sub plot where the evil Santa is taking over the North Pole is interesting, and it's much better like the original. Good sequel to a good movie. "The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause" is a complete piece of shit. It's Santa Claus going to be the ugly Jack Frost in confusing timeline that looks like we're watching "Back to the Future, Part II" or that shitty "Terminator Genisys," the dumb suplot were the couple is planning to get a baby, and the rest were whack. Overall, prefer the second one than the third movie. It's forgettable.
Hey, did you know that Aisha Tyler who played the Tooth Fairy? Well the actress was recently doing the voice of being the sexiest animated spy, Lana Kane from "Archer." Yummy.
Eh, I now they really don't hold up, but I always liked all three a lot. They're some of the christmas movies I always go back to, along with The Muppet Christmas Carol and Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer.
I've always felt that DreamWorks Rise of The Guardians handled the concept of The Fellowship of Imaginary Friends way better than Disney in The Santa Clause 2
What the fuck! I know I watched the second movie when I was 11 but I don't remember anything from it except for the reindeer. It's like it's completely erased from my memory. Weird...
you know somehow I have a feeling that the third one was only made just to give more screen time to Charlie's half sister, good thing I never found her annoying.
I'd liked The Santa Clause sequels I'd thought they are as Funny and Charming as the first Santa Clause and Tim Allen is Great as Santa Clause and Marty Short is Funny as Jack Frost
When I was watching the third one as a kid, I had no idea who Martin Short was playing as (cause Jack Frost was not enough popular in my country, and still its on the low side) and always though he was looking like an anime character like Asian Santa Claus - Goku Iceicle
The Santa Claus 1 is a true classic, it had a lot of real life stuff in it, its touching, its funny its great. The second one has a few good moments and you pointed out the pros and cons. Its a good Christmas watch. The third one....eh. Happy Holidays 2019! Merry Christmas!
The romance in the second film (especially the party scene) and fake Santa make it worth watching for me. The third one has so many good ideas but executed poorly. I feel like if they leaned more into the idea of Scott being tired of being Santa (like Shrek Forever After) and made the alternative timeline stuff the main thing, it would've been so much better. You see them advertising the time travel stuff and Jack Frost as Santa but when it happens, it lasts a few minutes out of the whole film and goes back to normal again. It's so half baked even though it's the best idea in the whole film
The first one didn’t hold up for me when I rewatched it this month. The second film... while not great and not that funny, it did charm me, and I really like the world it fully establishes in the 2nd film where we really see Tim Allen as a creative Santa, and all the other spiritual characters like Mother Nature and Father Time, I will watch this one a few more times.
My favorite one is the third i cant stop liking it, i love the jack frost but true... It has too many things happening in there i cant focus o every part of it
The second film was great, just as much fun as the first. The third... eh? I mean, it had a great concept, but it really didn't go anywhere. It ended up being more about the boring, cliche family drama rather than the natural chemistry between Tim Allen and Martin Short.
They could've made the second one simply about him falling in love with the principal. The whole bit about having to get married in a month or he can't be Santa anymore was unnecassary and dumb.
2 is my personal favorite of theses films. First movie was good but kinda basic, 3 is just kind miserable to watch. Weirdly though I can watch all three fine it’s just something about 2 seems the most balanced.
I liked the original and liked the second one a bit, but I don't think a third one should have been made, especially not with Martin Short. I found him too creepy.
Me personally I don't like either The Santa Clause 2 or 3. I only like The original Santa Clause It's a shame that you don't like The first Santa Clause Nostalgia Critic because it's a modern classic
I really enjoyed the first and second ones but, you're right, the third movie is pretty bad. It just feels kind of tacked-on and corny and...Yeah, the whole "change the past to make my life better/simpler/non-existent but now I'm unhappy with it so I've got to make things go how they were supposed to go" plot is so lame and played-out. Too many T.V. shows have used it for it to work well in a movie at all.
The Santa Clause 3 sucks shit. It's painfully obvious Disney is trying to milk a cash cow with that one. The Santa Clause 2, it's not so obvious but still could have been done better.
One of these sequels kept Tim Allen out of having to do the Cat in the Hat movie.
So at least Allen's career got out of it in one piece.
I wish
I am still curious to see how it would have turned out. According to Tim, the Cat was his idea and wanted to give some edge about a creature loose in the house and closer to the book. But, sometimes, it is better to fantasize the concept than see it acted out.
Until Shaggy Dog.
Not to mention that Tim Allen also has the Toy Story movies under his belt.

Santa Clause 2: "Huh, they're a bit goofier this time. Even Bernard...wait why do the reindeer speak gibberish?"

Well put
I do like how they bring back the kids aged up in the movies. Not every sequel does this.
+Souji Monaru Exactly.I loved how we got to enjoy Charlie's growth, from a kid(protecting his dad's secrets) to a young adult (sharing his gift with Lucy)

@@StriderRyu7 Bernard and Charlie reappear in The Santa Clauses Disney+ show.
Sara was the only returning character who was recast.
Not to mention getting rid of Bernard in the third movie was a really stupid move.
who?
Josh Barnes The head elf in the first two movies. Santa's right hand man. The teenager with the artist cap and the crazy head.
Judy wasn't in the third movie either....
Jarrett Smith oh yeah sorry bout that its been a while and i only say the first two
+Jarrett Smith David Krumholtz was busy with the series Numbers when they filmed the third one I believe.
THATS RIGHT!

Agreed
I thought the fake Santa was hilarious.
Me too
The 2nd one is my favorite tbh, mostly because of the romance.
Seeing the Santa Clause 3 in theaters is still burned into my memory. Same. SC3 was the only Disney movie I ever regretted seeing in theaters.
That movie made me a bit scared of the myth of Jack Frost. Until _Rise of the Guardians_ came along 😍

Mabey when The current Santa Clause falls off a roof and disappears Mrs Clause disappears too
@@thing1thing2themediamaniac43 What if they go back to their old, everyday lives but without any memory of them being Santa and Mrs. Claus?
They're psychically linked. If one dies, the other other dies in the exact same way at the same time.
Does the Mrs. Clause apply if you’re aro or gay?
The 1st and 3rd movie are always shown around Christmas. But I'm with you, the 2nd is my favorite and it makes me mad it's not shown more

Maybe an elf pulls a Men in Black and gets rid of memories and leaves them with just a general sadness inside
I think that there was no original Mrs. Claus in this film universe.
Basically something like this: "Mr. Stark, I don't feel so good."
Ok I know that this video is old. I think the first one is the best
Santa Claus Sequel Idea. Santa gets caught trafficking in north pole snow. Which is just cocaine but processed by elves
Well, we just left kids' movie territory, haven't we?
Tim Allen was never kids movie territory
what about Toy Story

Santa Clause 2 was decent, but Santa Clause 3 was hot garbage.
2 was far from decent LMAO. I agree about 3 though
Lol 😂
The santa clause 2 was, amusingly eough, the second movie I ever saw in a theatre

Im so glad he didnt outright hate them like I expected. I know theyre cheesy but I just love the concepts!
It would have been nice to see Santa Clause be happy being the single guy in Santa Clause 2.
I'd liked The Santa Clause sequels I'd thought they are as Funny and Charming as the first Santa Clause and Tim Allen is Great as Santa Clause and Marty Short is Funny as Jack Frost

Nintendo Video Gamer I meant as part of Disneycember, not the NC version.

Am I the only guy that liked Bernard in the Santa Clause 2?
Everyone loves Bernard, it's a shame he isn't in the third movie.
no you're not alone actually, he was kind of more laid back in the SC2 than in the first one
Here’s my thoughts on these movies
Santa Clause:Good but not great
Santa Clause 2:Decent
Santa Clause 3:Awful
I actually liked Santa Claus 3, better than the 2nd. Probably cause I haven't seen the 2nd one in a while.
The 3rd ones enjoyable for me just to see Martin Short ham it up as Jack Frost

I love Santa Clause 3
What about Fred Claus?
oh my god that movie SUCKED
Robot? You mean toy clone?
good movies
Honestly the 3rd movie is my favorite
i like 1 and 2. like you said, the 3rd has too much bullshit.
The second film was great, just as much fun as the first. The third... eh? I mean, it had a great concept, but it really didn't go anywhere. It ended up being more about the boring, cliche family drama rather than the natural chemistry between Tim Allen and Martin Short.
I honestly think that the second movie was the best film in the trilogy.
3:40 not happy
I completely agree with your opinion, the first two were pretty good! The third was eh, okay.
Santa Clause 2 had a better plot, but i feel the first film had better execution. Let's not talk about 3
Am I the only one that likes the third Santa Clause movie?
I love the 2nd movie. I don't remember the 3rd
Unpopular opinion: I actually prefer both of these sequels over the first movie!
the first time I watched the santa clause 3 I was like wow this sucks wait... what the fuck happened to Bernard
Why did they spell it with an E?
clause as in contractual clauses?
the first 2 are really good ( i enjoyed mores the 2nd one ) but the 3rd one is eye cancer
I've never seen the Santa Clause sequels.
I like the second but the third was aweful
I've only seen the third one
They could've made the second one simply about him falling in love with the principal. The whole bit about having to get married in a month or he can't be Santa anymore was unnecassary and dumb.
Think santa claws 3 would of been better if the villain was krampus instead of Jack Frost
These movies were made by disney? I had no idea lol
I just watch the first 2
Pulp Fiction doesn't have this many sub plots
its all hell

I like these movies, but Nick Frost is the best Santa.
I LOVE THE ORIGINAL SANTA CLAUSE The other 2 not so much SANTA CLAUSE 2 is mediocre and SANTA CLAUSE 3 IS JUST AWFUL
the 3rd one did suck, and that was such a shame.

The third Santa Clause movie was rubbish.
Hated the third one with a passion.
